creatures, and evidence thereof
azaleas from last year. if you have the chance, visit the us national arboretum for azalea season
i’m a big fan of foliage
plenty of things are in bloom in january and february
spring starts as early as you want it to
i’m really trying to move past my first experience with fothergilla
wild ginger is imperative for a japanese woodland aesthetic
taxonomy is ever-changing, so i have no hope of remembering if this was mahonia or berberis
this is a fern, latin name osmunda. it’s my favorite type of fern.
some cultivar names are really interesting! this variety of solomon’s seal is named after byakko, the white tiger of the west, which has had cultural significance in a number of east asian countries
i don’t have much to say about fringe flowers. they’re pretty cool
a lot of the crepe myrtle cultivars introduced by the us national arboretum are named after indigenous peoples, or just kind of vaguely native-themed words
this is a really cool hybrid of a fatsia and some ivy, latin name xfatshedera. the cultivar pictured was introduced by the us national arboretum, i believe
i don’t have time for art so i’ll be posting photos i took at work
this is a full-moon maple!
