The difference between the progress of Lloyd's relationship with Arin and Sora is a very interesting look on how reputation can completely change the way a person is viewed way before one meets them for the first time.
To Sora, the ninja in general, were nothing more than overexaggerated stories told to her by her enthusiastic best friend in the middle of the night. She took those tales with a grain of salt, not really thinking much of it. Ninjago was not a world Sora came from. She didn't grow up with the ninja, they were never part of her life, her story or her culture the way they were of Arin's. So until Lloyd came along, she didn't really have much of her own view of him.
To Sora, Lloyd was a blank slate - someone she based her opinion on purely on what she saw in front of her. And what she saw was someone far from perfect. She saw someone who is incredibly skilled at what he does, but also someone messy, sheepish, self-conscious, a bit of a dumbass, and more often than not just as unsure about things as his own pupils. But also someone kind, gentle and safe. The only adult in her life thus far, who, despite taking the role of a teacher didn't feel overly strict or demanding, who she didn't really feel all that inferior to, who didn't like being called master despite being levels above her...like a friend. A caretaker, an authority figure, but also someone more than that, someone who wasn't too imposing, who made her feel welcomed. Sora, just like Arin had been doubting herself constantly ever since she decided to live in the Monastery. Because of the way she was brought up, she had a habit of basing her value on her skills and usefulness alone. So whenever she felt like she's failing, like she wasn't meeting this invisible standard that she made for herself, she started believing that she wasn't earning her place. On the other hand she saw Lloyd, someone incredibly powerful, regarded and accomplished, someone who by all means should know exactly where he belongs and what he's doing, and yet all she could see, was someone struggling in the exact same way she was. And it felt so reassurring to know she's not the only one who doesn't have quite everything put together yet. That this radiculously important adult is just as much of a loser as the rest of them, that she could connect with him like that, that she could relate to him it that way. I think it really helped Sora believe in herself so much more.
To Arin, the ninja were everything. Strong, brave, untouchable, legendary, everything Arin ever wanted to be. They were role models, an example, and a sense of safety. It's clear that Lloyd was Arin's idol, his hero, way before he was his friend and mentor. Just like many citizens of Ninjago used to watching the ninja from afar, Arin had put Lloyd on a pedeatal. To him, he was a figure close to divine. Similarly, being a ninja was an idealized concept. An illusion of a life full of thrilling adventures with very little peril in-between.
So it was a bit of a shock to Arin to see Lloyd act so painfuly, unbelievably human. During their time together Arin, for the first time experienced the ugly parts of being a hero. He got to see Lloyd fail, he got to see him frustrated and stressed out. He got to see him enter battle with little to no plan, he saw him panic and freeze. He saw him lose sleep over nightmares, visions, nearly suffocated by the amount of work ahead. He got to see him so wrapped up with so many things that he could barely keep up, not only with the world as a whole, but also with his own promises. He saw him stupidly promise even more. In all of that, Arin had to make peace with the fact that Lloyd is not invincible, that he won't always be able to fix every problem, that he might not have time to fullfill all the promises be made, including those be made to Arin. The idealized view of Lloyd shattered and for a moment the illusion was so far removed from what lied beneath that it made Arin feel like he'd been deceived. But deep down Arin knew he wasn't. Not in a way that could make him truly hate Lloyd. Lloyd is a creature raised to roam among the divine while never being divine himself. In a world in which the public expects him to be god, Lloyd feels like he has no choice, but pretend to be one, destroying himself in the process. A creature that loves with his whole heart, and tries to do right by everyone, losing sleep every day so others can sleep soundly. And the more Arin began to understand that, the more willing he was to forgive his mistakes. The moment Arin accepted who Lloyd truly is, he realized that he cares for him more than he could ever care for the faceless idol he used to follow. Lloyd finally felt to Arin like something real, something more than a poster in his childhood bedroom, someone who cares for him and someone he can care for and support on return. And that meant to Arin more than anything he thought he wanted Lloyd to be.
For as much trouble as Dragons Rising has had keeping up with its own roster of characters and dynamics, I will always adore how they’ve chosen to portray each ninja-in-training’s relationship with their respective mentors. They’re all so different but uniquely deep and beautiful. The sheer range of dynamics they’ve shown between each specific mentor/mentee is insane, especially compared to the original series. Plus it’s not like any of them have gone unexplored or been put off by the plot like with the ninja and Wu. They’ve each been carefully explored and explained in such a way that really makes you think, even amidst the battle and conflict of the plot.
The never realm AND Kai/Cole interaction in one season???? Oh we’re winning so hard
Honestly if I were an anti capitalist icon like the Grinch and my face starts getting plastered onto every low-quality mass produced soul sucking capitalist christmas cash-grab? I would simply steal it all away in a fabulous montage sequence and dump it from the top of mount crumpit.
Bring back the original move, you know?
It drives me nuts that people online are using Beach Bunny’s “Shut up, count your calories” line from Prom Queen to promote “health journeys” and diet culture when that entire song is literally meant to be a commentary on society’s expectations for women to change themselves through plastic surgery, dieting, and changing themselves to be “pretty” and gain the attention of men.
Marvel Rivals did WHAT to Captain America?!?
Ok guys I know it’s been common knowledge that tumblr posts get screenshotted and posted to Pinterest a lot but did you know
They’re spreading to Instagram. But they’re using the dumb “1 second long reel to get as many views as possible, probably with AI generated music in the background” format.
just thought I’d alert the people, because I keep seeing it and it’s annoying me that they’re using AI in the back.
I love Inuyasha, but one thing in that series has always been extraordinarily funny to me
9 times out of 10, a relevant character will have bangs. Like 15 characters who stay relevant don’t have bangs, but everyone else? Bangs.
You’re trying to figure out how long a character will stay? Easy, do they have bangs? If no, probably not long, but if they do, they’ll stay around for at least a few more episodes.
One expectation I am carrying with me into the theater for Brand New Day is this:
If this version of Peter Parker loses ONE MORE TRUSTED ADULT/MENTOR FIGURE, I AM GOING TO LOSE MY SHIT
THE PRECEDENT IS THREE. THREE TRUSTED ADULTS LOST PER EVERY ONE SPIDER MAN BUT THEY JUST KEEP GOING WITH THIS ONE
Tbh it’s gotten so bad I don’t even know who would have to go next. Bruce Banner? Dr. Strange? Fucking Mr. Delmar from the sandwich shop? They’re running out of adults in Peter’s life to tragically kill off
I love reading fanfiction pertaining to Spiderman/Peter Parker (specifically the MCU version) because at this point it is not an uncommon occurrence that I cannot tell the difference between fanon and canon. It didn’t help that when I first got into it I hadn’t actually seen Civil War or Homecoming in a minute, so some stuff I deadass forgot which was confusing.
I forgot that Peter’s class never went on a field trip to Stark Industries because it was written so many times I was like “man maybe this did happen?”
Flip side, I forgot the Hello Kitty pajama pants thing was actually canon and was confused as hell when it came up in so many separate fics. Then I saw Homecoming again and was like “SON OF A BITCH THEY’RE REAL!”
I posted a longer update to the actual fic, link here:

but tldr; The Boy in the Tea Shop is not abandoned, I don’t think I will ever abandon it, I’ve just hit a really funky place with the writing, and am now taking requests on what you may want to read about to try and get out of it!!
As always thank you for reading, the support I’ve gotten for this so far is actually crazy, and I hope I can get a new chapter out soon(ish)!
I love the difference between how people interact with Phoenix in the first Ace Attorney game vs how people interact with Apollo in the fourth Ace Attorney game, because I think we forget how many people were genuinely trying to murder Phoenix just for doing his job in the first game😭
like don’t get me wrong Apollo gets his fair share of that in the fifth and sixth games but dude like every person you talk to in Turnabout Sisters talks to you with sheer murderous intent💀💀💀
There’s something so inherently burnt out gifted kid about Lloyd Garmadon, I want to swallow him whole (lovingly)
Say it with me folks:
Even if Nya 'secretly had feelings for Jay deep down' all through the love triangle, it does not make any of Jay's pushy behavior durring that period even remotely more okay!
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!!!
Happy Narumitsu day! This is the image I send to my friends to grammar correct them😃
I absolutely did rip it off Pinterest, but it’s one of my favorite images to send to people🫶🫶
