OK so Till losing it at the memory of Ivan's death only to recover his will to live at seeing Mizi in the crowd makes sense and no, I'm not talking shipping.
I'm talking that Mizi has always represented hope for Till, the will to endure bc there's something/someone good beyond the suffering he's always under.
And Ivan is the painful reality, the practical comfort he offered Till after the torture an punishments, the hand that loosened the collar temporarily. And he's dead. And he died kissing Till and saving him.
Of course when Mizi appears he breaks away from that flashback and starts singing again with hope; she's what inspires him to keep living, and also he thought she was dead that he had no friends alive. And right now the memory of Ivan pushes him to death; and Till is a rebel at heart.
(he was sooo angry and heartbroken on this final round you guys.)
However just like the symbol of unreachable goodness that Mizi is on his heart, that spot of hope was never his reality. And so Till dies like Ivan (and Sua the other realist of the quartet; that scene of him and Mizi reaching to each other even has parallels to Sua).
Come on people, this is basic analysis. Besides much as it weights on me, the effect his death will have on Mizi (she's now three for three down the count for friends, including the love of her life Sua and Till dying on her) and the unresolved emotional tension between HyuLuka meant Till was condemned narratively if they wanted to kept the stakes high.
