This is probably obvious already, but I’m not going to continue my ongoing Frender WIP. Maybe one day I’ll finish it, but I think I’m done with Futurama. Possibly for many years, possibly forever. I haven’t made this post yet because I was nervous to make it, but I think I should.

I think all the people in this little fandom are cool as hell and should keep making content. And I really appreciate the readers who supported me and commented on my works. I’ll always be grateful for this fandom giving me a push into posting my writing onto the Internet for the first time. Hopefully, I can keep writing. 

I’m not going to delete this blog or my fanfiction. At the most, I might lock my fanfiction in the future, or even orphan them, but I don’t have plans to do so right now. I can promise that I won’t take them off the archive. Deleting this blog means deleting my entire Tumblr account, so I won’t do that. 

To my readers, thank you for supporting me and giving my silly works a chance! I hope all goes well with the revival! :)

I don't usually make posts like these but I have a close friend named Viktor who's in a rough situation. Vik is a trans-masc, disabled man who is unable to work due to his disability. He has been denied food stamps and disability by the US government. He currently has no access to transportation and has to rely on family members to take him to get food, who are very inconsistent with helping him.

The only person he is currently living with is a very abusive family member. Vik cannot safely leave his room without being yelled at in his own home. His support system is completely online right now, and we want to raise money through a GoFundMe to help him move out. Right now, he could really use donations for food and groceries.

I got your second ask, but I may as well answer this one just in case anyone else was interested in joining the server.

I deleted the Discord server months ago. Not many people joined and it was pretty inactive. I should've assumed that would happen because that's just how it is in little fandoms.

I wanted a space for fic writers to share their fics/ideas because it was a tiny community. I wanted it to be inclusive to all fic writers in the fandom, not just one type of fan.

I don't think I realized that "tiny" meant more like the fandom had maybe three active writers? And I'm not really in this fandom anymore, so it didn't make much sense to keep the server.

I find it helpful to join general fic writing discord servers. You get to meet authors who are also in inactive and dead fandoms. It's also nice to have a place to share your work, and sometimes, someone will be interested in what you write even if they aren't in that fandom.

the robots in futurama are so fucking funny. they aren't male or female because they are machines instead of biological organisms (there's even that snu snu episode in which bender avoids a death sentence by arguing he's not a man) but some of them have two half spheres drilled onto their chests and others arguably have toxic masculinity and there are fembots and manbots and they just, like, LARP human gender roles. these things are free from the confines of meat and sex and they choose to have gender anyway. it's so fucked up

Sometimes, I see takes from the Futurama fandom that people are crazy or weird for shipping and liking Frender. Or they get upset it’s a thing at all. You guys really want to die on this hill? This is the most basic friends to lovers ship between two characters that have nice chemistry and you’re shocked that people ship them? What the fuck? 

I’m tired of seeing this in almost every fandom I’ve ever engaged with. Literally people going “this ship exists?! That’s disgusting! Childhood RUINED!” It’s almost always a queer ship. Every single time, it’s a femslash ship or a slash ship and I hate it so much. How long have you been on the Internet? Two seconds? If you hate a ship, just block, filter the ship out, and ignore the shippers. 

Another take I see is that shipping Fry and Bender ruins their beautiful friendship. First of all, their friendship is toxic af in canon. Second of all, they can still be best buddies and boyfriends/lovers. Finally, fanon and shipping isn’t going to change canon at all, so why does this bother you? I will always despise the way people put male friendship on this weird pedestal and then dehumanize romantic and sexual relationships between men. 

This post is not an invitation to start hating on m/f ships either. I mainly wanted to get these feelings off my chest for a while. I probably need to grow a backbone, but it is genuinely hurtful to see the way so many people talk about same sex ships. And I don’t see many people talk about this due to the rise of popularity of same sex ships within fandom, but it’s still a problem.

What are your thoughts on how the series handles Freela? I'm not a fan because I feel like the writers think that they HAVE to end up together because Fry's interested even though Leela declines again and again. I realize that she can change her mind, but when they ended up together (kind of), it just struck me as "Fry finally wore her down!" Same problem I have with The Simpsons episodes where future Lisa ends up with Milhouse, although I guess it's debatable how canon they are.

I'm not super comfortable talking about Freela, especially not right now. The short answer is that I prefer them as friends.

I grew up watching ship wars play out on forums and Tumblr blogs, and it always upset me to see people be cruel toward each other over fictional characters. I do prefer one ship over the other but I don't want to say why because I don't want to make anyone feel bad about their favorite ship. I hope that makes sense.

Freela has turned into a squick for me as of late (yeah, I know that's super weird ,^^). I'm not quite sure why, and it's one of the reasons I'm trying to distance myself from the fandom. It wasn't that way when I watched Futurama, so I'm hoping that my personal discomfort with the ship will go away over time.

I've seen a lot of Freela fans produce amazing content for the ship (including writing and art!), and I have mad respect for them. It's wonderful that the ship brings them so much joy! Unfortunately, it's just not for me.

To anyone keeping up with my current Frender longfic, To Err Is Human, I’m really sorry it’s still on hiatus. I’ve been depressed lately, which I assume is because of the new year. Just looking at or thinking about anything Futurama-related has been really upsetting for me. I can’t really tell you why; my brain is just weird sometimes.

What I’ve learned is that it’s incredibly difficult writing a longfic for a small fandom. I greatly underestimated how tough it would be to write, plan, and properly execute a project this long. It seems super obvious I guess, but I’m still a young writer, and I’m still learning new things.

Writing is very lonely. and it’s hard to get people to read what you’ve written. I’ve had works professionally published, but Ao3 is the only time I’ve ever had more than a handful of people read my work. And this is in a small fandom. I love writing, it’s what I’m good at, but it’s a punishing hobby. I want to say that I only write for fun, but it’s so difficult to not let the insecurities get in the way.

I don’t want to abandon my WIP. The idea of abandoning something that I have invested almost 100,000 words into makes me sick. It would help me grow as a writer if I was able to finish my first really long project. And I love Frender enough to want to keep writing for it. But right now, this fic is holding me back from other writing projects, so I have no clue when it will get finished.

I don’t know how many of my readers follow me on here, but to people who have commented and kept up with my fics: thank you from the bottom of my heart. It does mean a lot to me. My ideas are... weird and niche to say the least, and I’m grateful for those who have given my fics a chance despite that.

Frender is absolutely a robotfucker ship, and a god tier robotfucker ship at that. However, I will argue that it has the potential to be a monsterfucker ship.

Yes, Bender is an evil asshole, but calling him a monster is a slight exaggeration. However, robots have the capabilities to upgrade themselves, change their forms, and even turn themselves into godlike beings. 

And this is perfect for Fry, because we see that he’s into robots AND Lovecraftian eldritch abominations. Bender can become both of those things, while Fry gets a robot boyfriend and monster boyfriend for the price of one.

I love human/non-human relationships. They’re queer as hell and cool as fuck. The existence of robosexuality in Futurama is such a good way to explore being queer in this universe.
