Should a 30-year-old supermodel help lead a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Emily Brontë?
That question is at the crux of a row that broke out after the Brontë Society in Britain, one of the world’s oldest literary societies, anointed Lily Cole a “creative partner” for a festival about Brontë, the author of “Wuthering Heights.”
The collaboration, announced this week, spurred a Brontë biographer and society member to write a scathing blog post denouncing it as a “rank farce.”

Despite Henry Holt’s decision yesterday to push up the release date of Fire and Fury to today, independent booksellers are hopeful that they will have enough stock on hand to meet quickly increasing demand.
Michael Wolff’s White House exposé has become the book everyone is talking about. And wants. After excerpts from the title were released earlier this week, the book has become a thorn in President Trump’s side and a media sensation. The White House has even gone so far as to issue a cease-and-desist letter to Wolff and Holt, claiming the book is libelous and its publication should be halted.
The best thing that could’ve happened to that book was for Trump to throw a temper tantrum about it.
Happy Mew Year!
I’m gonna take this advice. I will give the bodies of my enemies to my best friends. Luckily we hate the same people
Solid.
Went to library. Meant to leave with 1 book. Didn’t work out that way. Oops. (Trips to Target tend to yield same results.)

A new year, a new TBR list. (Unless you, like me, have a TBR list so horrifyingly long you’ll be reading it into your grave.) But where to begin? With so many amazing new books coming out every year, how can you possibly decide which books to read first? Well, if you’re a fan of YA then I’ve got you covered. Here are 25 YA books to add to your 2018 TBR list and get your new year started off right!

This “Best of 2017 Mystery & Thrillers” list originally ran in our mystery newsletter. Sign up for Unusual Suspects.
The mystery genre puts out a lot of mysteries in a year, so while it’s always hard for me to wrangle a Best of anything list, it’s especially difficult when there is so much to read and choose from. For me, the best mystery & thrillers of 2017 are those that I shouted about as must-reads, I immediately needed someone to discuss the book with, and those I found myself still thinking about either the character(s), story, or twist after having finished.
