[Never did I think I’d be writing thought posts about Basile but here we are]

I’m still proper emotional about today’s clip but I think the loveliest thing for me is that we are now able to see, because of the POV, why Arthur was so supportive and loving towards Basile in s3. He was his hype man, always helping him with Daphne, always encouraging him, always seeing the best in him... and because we were with Lucas, it wasn’t making sense

Basile was saying gross stuff and being really crass and constantly putting his foot in it. He was over the top and even when we were supposed to feel sorry for him, we didn’t have the emotional connection to him to be able to do that

Now, we see him in such a different light and I’m endlessly obsessed about this aspect of Skam and always have been. Now, we see how compassionate he is, how loving, how full of love and emotion for those who cares about... we see exactly how Arthur feels and suddenly all of that past behaviour makes perfect sense.

Basile holds Arthur to his heart. He has a ridiculous dumb enormous heart and he can’t rest if he knows those he loves are hurting. He has learned a lot and grown but I think that strong line of emotion has always been there and now we get to see how unsettled he is by his friends being in pain, how much he can’t stand when something is wrong, the way he wants to cry when he feels like he can’t help, how reassured he is by confirmations of their love for him, how he has instant intense reactions to his friends and loves loudly and unashamedly but also how he’s affectionate with his love. He clings to his friends and keeps them close. We know how much friendship means to Arthur, how he has always lit up and sighed with relief around his friends... but with Basile that’s a soul connection. That’s a soulmate, right there. There’s so much genuine love.

It’s fun because Basile and Lucas are close and Basile cares a great deal but his dynamic with Lucas is so different. They tease and bicker and play fight more. It’s like Lucas has that “he’s an idiot but he’s our idiot” thing with Basile and seeing the difference in friendship dynamic change because we’re in Arthur’s head is so much fun and so meaningful too

I guess I just can’t get over Basile saying that he knows there’s Bac stress and that his dad gets on his nerves... but that he knows Arthur and he knows there’s more. That deep emotionally intelligent friendship is so moving to me especially because it comes alongside teasing and gentle hand holding and squished cuddles. How bloody refreshing?!
