One thing that makes my blood boil is when people hate characters for not being a badass.

How shallow and banal you must be for only liking a character that punches and is a baddie. Grow up.

People say they want complex characters or characters with flaws but they often hate weak or vulnerable characters, especially the male ones. Especially if they used to be one dimensional stoic, intimidating and badass. I can understand if writers nerf someone in order to elevate another character or for some idealist or plot reasons. Boring.

The moment in which a character is shown to be complex, have weaknesses, to love, to forgive, to be soft, to be depressed, to need help, to be helpless or scared or beg forgiveness, to have mercy suddenly most idiots don't like em anymore.
