Yeh Rishta Kya Kehalata Hai?
You know they say monkeys are our ancestors and we have evolved from monkeys to become modern-day humans . Then I guess my ancestors either hate me or love me to an extreme level and, either way, it's way too complicated to understand.
In the past 16 years of my life (basically my whole life) there have been numerous ancestral encounters, i.e. many monkey encounters with me, and the craziest one is still beyond my intellectual level.
Okay, so once, I was at my nani's place and a quick brief about her city is that, at that point of time, it was terrorised by monkeys, like literally every time you come out of the house, you'll always be greeted by a full family of monkeys.
Anyways, back to the story,  yeah so.. I was at my nani's place and they went to fresh dairy to get milk, so me and one of my cousins decided to accompany my nani to the dairy farm (dunno why I decided to go on that particular day),  so everything was going smoothly (or maybe not that smoothly), but yeah when we were on our return journey back to home there was a building under construction and there were some kids playing in the background, there were some uncles having conversations (maybe politics was the subject coz that's what majority of uncles in India usually talk about)so yeah it was a proper set-up for some adventurous and thrilling scene and thrill did happen a monkey jumped out in front of us from that building out of nowhere and then it was one monkey against 3 of us.. The monkey looked at us. We looked back at him and a sudden wave of tension  spread all over us. Then the monkey decided to play a game, "the game of kabaddi" . The monkey ran towards my cousin but she escaped, then he went towards my nani but she "shooed" him away.. And by that moment I realised that the next target was going to be me. I turned around and was about to run, when,  suddenly,... he grasped my left ankle and was adamant and wouldn't let me go ...I guess that monkey came to me to apologise for some mistake he must have made in our past lives and that's why he was at my feet but anyways...
So, I tried to kick it away and I was trying so hard like one of the uncles you can observe on the roads trying to restart your old scooter. But just as the scooter didn't start easily, the monkey also didn't let me go easily.
By that time, some of the neighbors arrived with sticks and bricks [PS: those were just for self defence and to scare the monkey, no need to contact PETA..]
And yeah , the monkey finally ran away and I ran towards one of the neighbor's houses who rescued me!!
By this time , I was just happy that I had survived, but then one of the kids shouted and pointed out towards my ankle. It was bleeding and everyone assumed that the monkey had probably bit me..and then I saw the blood and suddenly I started feeling the pain and started crying (what else would you expect from a kiddo!?) And I cried and cried so much that the neighbours had to drop us home, which was just 30secs away from the action sequence location...
I had to go under medication and take several shots of injections for a couple of months, although the reason for the wound and bleeding was still unclear to all. Some suspected it to be a monkey bite while others said it was just his nail scratch or something... âYeh raaz bhi ussi ke sath chala gya.."
And that's not the only money encounter!! There's more ... Last to last year I went on a trip with my maternal side of the family and we were on this trek kinda thing when I was wearing cargo pants that day and I had a yellow mask (I know .."wHo WeArs A yElLoW mAsK..!???" but that's the way I am ..crazy!!)
Anyways,  while we were returning from the Trek, I stopped at a point to tie up my shoe lace and I had that mask in my hand, so as I was trying to tie my laces I heard one of my aunts shouting out my name and said "TERE PEECHE BANDAR!!"(THERE'S A MONKEY BEHIND ME!!)
I just caught a glimpse of the monkey and ran  as fast as I could..the monkey probably took it as a challenge for a marathon and started chasing me.
I ran towards one of my younger cousins as she was in front of me . And then maybe the monkey had seen that drinks advertisement, "aaj kuch toofani karte hai!"..and he took it literally..so he snatched away her handbag and, after 30seconds of their impromptu tug of war, the monkey won!! And decided to celebrate on a tin roof which was way too high and out of our reach. At that moment he turned into BUNNY, coz woh udna chahta tha , daudna chahta tha ..maybe girna bhi chahta tha bss .. rukna nahi chahta tha!!
And we lost all hopes of getting the bag back..but wait! Here comes our hero on a horse ...oh sorry with a horse...one of the locals who heard us and our sad story and decided to help us.. That Superman jumped onto that risky roof and stared at the monkey and he ran away!!!(is it this simple to scare away a monkey???) Anyways, he got our bag back and saved our trip...
Well, not only monkeys, but there are several other animal stories, like one about a cow, Â wasps, a calf, a pigeon, a puppy and a cat too...but I will tell you some other day, in some other blog...
