case #1: recruiting members
It was nice to have a day to himself sometimes, to sit around outside and read ahead for Care of Magical Creatures. Because why not, it wasn’t like he was doing anything bad, at least. But as far as days went, today was going pretty boringly. A small smile crept onto Fubuki’s face, because Atsuya hated slow days like these. He’d probably be grabbing Fubuki’s hand and dragging him off god knows where to do god knows what.
Actually, that was a lie. Fubuki knew exactly what they’d do: get in trouble.
But now he was just sitting around and read -
Hang on, something was blocking his light.
Fubuki squinted up at the sky, trying to find the offending object, ready to catch it in case it fall down, but… It was just an owl. Well. Could’ve been worse, the way Fubuki saw it.
Actually, it did sort of get worse when a guy came stomping out from the shadows, yelling up at the bird.
“It’s fine!” Fubuki called out to him - Bossun? - as he stood up. “It wasn’t being a bother or anything.”
“Or at least, not that much of a bother. Nothing I couldn’t read through, anyways.”
“But we probably should get it down. It’s probably someone’s owl which got out of the owlery. Maybe we should go and return it, while we’re at it? I wonder how…” Fubuki tapped his chin thoughtfully, his (probably very useful) book left open forgotten on his lap.
"O...oh!! It... it's not bothering you?" The in-control and completely cool heroic exterior that Bossun held upon his entrance shattered in an instant. "Well, that.. that's..."
That just wasn't really the reaction that Bossun was expecting! And he received a bunch of different reactions over the years that he'd been doing this. Granted, even if Bossun had been expecting such a response, he still would've been unable to properly handle it. It just wasn't in his character. (Quite honestly, if his victim had been shocked or played along, he still would've flubbed around for what he had to do next.)
But he couldn't let this get to him! He was a club chief, for Pete's sake! How could he lead a group of students to help others if he couldn't even get through recruiting a single member! What a disgrace!! He cleared his throat and did his best to put back on a seriously serious look, the type that could frighten small children.
"Alright, let's get this owl. First, we're going to need a net!"
