Hi folks! My first ever post in this blog. Just want to say this blog is dedicated to discussing about what I don't like about character designs, tropes, lore, etc. I hope to keep conversations civil as this is all my personal opinions here, ciao.
i know it's a holdover from them being invented so that rwby could have a catgirl, but MAN i wish the faunus got to be more bestial. theyre supposed to be a perfect mix between animals and humans, but theyre SO much more human. im gonna start drawing them with more animal traits and fur for fun

Problem with RWBY's Faunus Designs
Let's start with the fact that if you like the designs, it's ok! I don't mind your opinions. However, I feel like RWBY's faunus designs feels lazy. It's ironically what's memed on the internet when it comes to anime. Look at Blake and tell me she's not your average Google image cat girl that's on your first result.
Her cat ears look like it's those cheap headbands that you get for a dollar and a half. If you think Blake's bad, you should see the rest of the designs.
They're just humans with extra ears, or limbs with barely anything different. I personally don't think whatever the storyline has aligns with the designs. Why are humans oppressing faunus when the faunus just looks like them with extra set of limbs or barely any physical changes? I also think that the faunus as a race are also put at an advantage, as they have extra set of abilities to; see in the dark, balance body/hang on an object with their tails, and countless abilities that are like an extra to the remotely human body.
My Problem with Adam Taurus
Adam Taurus is a terribly written character up after V2. The problem with him lies with the fact that everything about him changes after V2 - We know him as this idealistic faunus man who's been tortured all his life by the Schnee Dust Company and wants to fight for faunus rights. That is all he cares about, fighting for his race. He does not pardon himself with other trivial matters and focuses on the main picture of everything. Sounds interesting, right?
Unfortunately, at and after V3, everything about it is thrown into the dumpster. He is now Blake's obsessive, abusive ex that misses her so much that he's willing to cut down everybody she loves because it's revenge for the fact Blake is leaving him. He is undeniably a lost potential of a character. Nothing can justify how the writers fucked him up, especially with the fact he was technically a victim of slavery. Where is the confrontation to Weiss as she is a Schnee?
Um no, he's actually written incredibly well just not in the manner that your incel ass wants. Namely him being written as a psychopathic terrorist vs. some gray zone vigilante.
The things known about him leading into v2:
him smirking as he dismissed killing a train full of INNOCENT people; which likely included faunus which puts him as a psychopathic terrorist
he had a close relationship with Blake that was broken by said train incident
he's in the White Fang
That's it, that's all of his character up to v2. None of which was altered and instead was built on in v3+.
There was no
"idealistic faunus man tortured by the Schnees" as not only was it never posited that he was idealistic at all; but the "tortured by the Schnees" wasn't even a confirmed thing till v6 (SIX).
proof that he cares about his people or fighting for them at all, instead he's once again shown not giving a single shit about INNOCENT lives on the train that likely include faunus. He USED the faunus cause to excuse his own psychopathic bloodlust.
I shudder at what your incel ass considers a "trivial matter", cause I'd wager it/they isn't/aren't one/s. Like killing a train full of innocents isn't a "trivial matter".
Actually no, nothing was thrown away. He's revealed as what he always was: a manipulative, abusive, own-ego-boosting focused, power-hungry, and co-opting psychopathic terrorist piece of shit. He goes after Blake because how dare anyone undermine his power, undermine his authority, and risk damaging his ego. Which is furthered in v5-6 where his collapse is shown happening as he steadily starts losing status. Things which match irl abuse survivors stories of their own abusers.
I don't give a single fuck what bullshit ass violin your sorry incel ass wants to try to play for him, he was a psychopathic, abusive, co-opting terrorist who got what he earned via his acts. The writers didn't fuck a damn thing up, they just didn't write him the way your dipshit ass wanted; which wouldn't be THEIR story it'd be yours. They aren't writing your damn story, they're writing theirs.
This whole "confrontation with Weiss" bullshit is just that its naive/ ignorant ass shit. What happens is you end up with the daughter & heir of the racist family auto-winning said confrontation, because the alternative is killing off a goddamn main character. Which isn't exactly a great damn image to portray, especially for a fucking psychopathic abusive terrorist. Instead his story and the WF story were split into separate things as it should be, where his goes towards Blake and then Yang. His victims and survivors that are the ones to take his sorry fucking ass down.
So no not a damn thing was altered or changed; because your dumbass fanon/headcanons are NOT canon. Your wants not being a thing do NOT translate to being bad writing. And your dumbfuck ass wanting to play the worlds smallest most out of tune violin for an abusive psychopathic terrorist who has no care about killing a train full of INNOCENT people doesn't change him being those things thus deserving his fucking fate. "Incredibly well-written"? What is so well-written about Adam Taurus? What were the writers trying to send a message about with his character when it comes to the topic of slavery and abuse? I'd like to argue about your points that I think are completely absurd. 1. "Him smirking as he dismissed killing a train full of innocent people; which included faunus." Are we even watching the same show or read the same RWBY manga? He was slaughtering what seems to be ROBOTS. Where were the faunus you talk of? the people that are not guards with armours? Hmm... The other points such as 2 or 3 is his status with Blake. Blake ran away not because she was "abused", but because she didn't agree with Adam's method of endangering HUMANS, NOT faunus. As for the reveal of the torturer being the Schnee Dust Company at V6, there have been clues that could have been theorized it's by the Schnee Dust Company... It's a plot point for a reason. If your argument is that it would be irrelevant because it's on V6, then I can't imagine you knowing such thing as "WRITING the PLOT beforehand" so it makes sense. Not all writers just write as they go. Question, how do you know that the train also had faunus lives in Blake's train trailer scene? Where are you getting this information from?????? I feel like your post is just dedicated to ranting about people who disagree about RWBY's writing. You just can't handle the fact that RWBY actually has plot holes and questionable lore. You're forgetting that Adam was a victim of abuse and slavery too and therefore must be handled carefully by the writers. But he wasn't even handled with the slightest care. The characters you care about are only Blake and Yang, unfortunately huh? You don't seem to be able to differentiate between head canon and criticism, how sad. Do you just drag a conversation when someone doesn't like your favorite brand of coffee? Or perhaps, SOMEONE having a different preference? Wild right! Someone having different opinions than you. It also looks like it's you who's making a strawman argument. Other than that; Your insults mean nothing to some strangers on the internet who doesn't give a shit; You don't know me, nor you don't know the others in this blog post.
