OFFICIAL: Black Cat D.Va “exclusively for non-straight folk”

It’s official! Chief Representative of Blizzard of America confirmed no less than 24 hours after the first official trailer for the new D.Va skin was released, that this skin would only be purchaseable if you aren’t cishet.

“It’ll just lock up and refuse to let you buy it,” The representative explained. “It’s patented technology, reverse engineered from all the vitriol we’ve had to suffer at the hands of hets and all the times they’ve kept us from enjoying cute things before they come in and start making gross comments.”

The representative made a point of saying that people who weren’t eligible to use the console would simply be unable to buy the skin, not unable to play D.Va entirely or anything as some pundits have claimed could happen. They explained with a chuckle “That’s not something we would do! We will point out that D.Va is still fully playable, although her rockets are actually set to do 50% less damage if you’re cis and straight”.

“In addition,” They continued, “We’ve already sent out drones with Overwatch stickers all over towards the homes of every single man who has ever called D.Va their ‘waifu’“. Great news!

There has been some good news for cishet gamers who still want to have a crack at the latest Overwatch skins, though - if they can submit a letter to Blizzard citing 5 of their LGBT friends, or pay an monthly fee of $50 (£40), they can get a license to play with this skin and all future skins of similar nature under the new ‘Ally’ system. This feature will not roll out with the skin and has been projected to be released by Q2 of 2018.

Loads of new skins alongside Black Cat D.Va will be released on January 23rd, 2018, as part of the Overwatch Cosmetics Update.
