to me saix is like a verbally abusive mother with unobtainable standards who makes sure you know you don’t meet them whenever you come home. he makes sure his kids are vaccinated but also wants them to pay rent once they turn 18. axel is like an overly involved mom who calls herself her kids best friend. “the fun parent.” he has been feeding the family take out for the past 25 days and gets upset when his kids suggest moving out for college. definitely not as bad as saix but he loses his luster once you get older. they’re meant to be weird uncles or older cousins at MOST and shouldn’t be someone’s sole guardians or else it’ll end up like this. this house is a prison

i don't think we talk enough about roxas going to destiny islands. that's crazy. he almost certainly did not actually receive a mission for this, but we do know for a fact that he went, because a) roxas's memories get caught up in the snarl that xion is experiencing

and b) riku witnesses him leaving

for that matter, we don't talk enough about RIKU going to destiny islands.....but let's focus on roxas for now.

at this point, it's been three weeks since xion ran away, and also been three weeks of axel avoiding roxas. he's lonely and confused and anxious and probably a little angry. he's stopped writing in his diary. i can imagine him dissociating through his days as missions blur together. none of it matters, but going through the motions is all he has.

he doesn't consciously make the decision to go to the beach. he just sort of finds himself there, wishing things were different. truthfully, he's not even sure how he found it. he's never been here, and yet it all seems so familiar, the salt in the air, the way his boots sink into the sand.

what does he feel while listening to the waves? does it sound like home? or is it just unnerving, like the flashes of memory he gets during missions? the feeling of being outside his own body, like his reality isn't his to command.

when he leaves, he isn't sure he ever wants to go back.

Kingdom Hearts - Destiny Islands

namine shouldn’t be locked up in that castle she should be posting her shitty crayon self insert fanart to deviantart. and repliku should be in her comments hyping her up and asking her to draw his feral wolf oc (made using a free to use base on the family computer before his brother came back to hog it). she doesn’t usually draw animals but they both like disney (or, repliku’s brother forces him to watch it) so she traces the wolves from beauty and the beast and adds his requested spiky hair and unnatural fur patterns (she hesitantly adds some of her signature stars onto it and he ends up keeping them). and they do online rp with many asterisks and emoticons and in hindsight really obvious projection. repliku always ended playing dramatic ℑ 𝔴𝔦𝔩𝔩 𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔱𝔢𝔠𝔱 𝔶𝔬𝔲. type characters to namine’s woobie cinnamon rolls. he’s a bit of a white knight and she’s a bit of a doormat but it gave her something to look forward to after school. they lose contact a few years later as their interests diverge but she remembers that time fondly when she’s a better artist and in a healthier housing situation. they lived like half an hour away from each other the whole time

something something aro-spec kairi yes but then everything with people making hearts So Fucking Important and equating the lack of a heart with Not Having The Right To Exist. kairi's heart having brought her and the people she cares about nothing but grief, it makes her a target it makes her valuable it makes her vulnerable, it's the reason sora died, it's the reason sora is gone again.

her as a princess of light being this big Thing where it has people treating her like she's so important but also like she's utterly incapable. having this huge impossible standard to live up to because her heart is all light and that Means Something. the in-universe perception of light as equivalent to all that is pure and good and innocent and naive but kairi herself is Literally Just Some Girl. she doesnt think or feel any differently from the people around her, the ones with mostly light hearts the ones with so much darkness that they struggle with the ones that are balanced or not and even the people who apparently have no hearts.

emotion and feeling exist without need for a heart. a heart of pure light doesnt mean being exempt from feeling "negative" emotions or causing harm or wanting to cause harm. a heart of pure darkness isn't incapable of "positive" emotions. a lack of a heart does not equate to a lack of emotion. people who struggle with their darkness are looked down on, it's not allowed, you need perfect control you need to keep it restrained no matter what. not an encouragement of balance or acceptance, but of repression and smothering.

why does it matter? why is it so important? why should her heart be her one defining feature, before her actions or thoughts or feelings? all hers has ever done is make her a liability.

not so much rejection of her heart, but rejection of this great significance put on it. rejection of the idea that her heart should make her any certain way. rejection that the heart equates to any "right" to existence or even humanity. it's just a part of her, like any other. there are plenty of other pieces of herself that she literally cannot live without, what makes her heart so important? what makes anyone's heart so important, unless they themselves WANT it to be important?

the idea that her heart does not define her. that her heart means very little to her. that being a 'princess of light' means very little to her, at the very least in the sense that it does nothing to define her. it's just a part of her. It's Just A Part Of Her.

IDKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK i think maybe i just need to explode forever. also something to be said about her knowing/recognizing sora even when he Did Not Have His Heart. his heart had nothing to do with that. IDK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was super confused bc Radiant Garden who a girl named "Kairi" is the princess of, and is the home of many very japanese characters made by a japanese company is super european, but then i realized oh my god it looks like magic kingdom. it's based on magic kingdom.
