Great Revival Turnabout

"It’s like I say. Some time in June I went for a regular checkup at the doctors when I was given the news that I had some rare terminal illness and had but weeks to live. I was surprised to have lived till August, so around that time I had left letters to those closest to me and drove to visit my father’s grave before vanishing…

"However, when I got there, I found myself assaulted and knocked unconscious. I awoke bound to the driver’s seat of my car and heading for a cliff into a deep river. I was… lucky to be alive. My vehicle washed up at Kurian Temple, where the acolytes there looked after me for a week while I was suffering from amnesia and severe wounding." Edgeworth paused here, taking a breath from all the talking. “When my memories returned and the lead nun there thought me fit to return, I visited the graveyard once more before announcing my return, where I was then attacked again, this time with a gun. I was shot once in the leg then in the stomach before my assailant fled and one of my friends found me and took me to hospital. That is… all I remember off the top of my head.”

"Now which graveyard was it where the crime was committed?" (I believe he mentioned his father's grave, however, just to be sure..)

Pepper chuckled. “My my. You’re a curious one, aren’t you?” She shook her head, smiling to herself. “I say most because I did already tell you my occupation. Things have been… complicated lately. Unfortunately that’s all I can say.” She smiled apologetically. “So what about you, Mr. Zexal? What does your job entail?”

(Way to go, Zexal… like a boss.)

"Oh, it’s not really that interesting, honestly. Most of the time I just do what I’m told.” No… he’ll wait. Only when necessary..

"If you don’t ming my asking, why did you leave interpol?" Maybe she shouldn’t be asking buuuuuuut…. he had asked her questions, right?

"No particular reason. I just found this new job a bit more interesting... But if you really wanna know, I could go in a bit of detail..."

"I apologize, Mr. Zexal… but most of it’s classified."

(Classified, huh? If that’s the case this “classified’ information might be useful to the Foundation. But I don’t wanna pressure her. I need to keep in mind that I’ll only reveal my true occupation when necessary………. Hm.)

"Most…?"

Pepper chuckled. “My my. You’re a curious one, aren’t you?” She shook her head, smiling to herself. “I say most because I did already tell you my occupation. Things have been… complicated lately. Unfortunately that’s all I can say.” She smiled apologetically. “So what about you, Mr. Zexal? What does your job entail?”

"It’s ugh…. been hectic, to say the least."

"Hectic, eh?"

"Y’mind telling me what’s up? I might be able to help out."

"I apologize, Mr. Zexal… but most of it’s classified."

She rubbed the back of her neck. “Unfortunately…” The whole smuggling ring business was really getting out of hand.

"Unfortunately…?" He questioned curiously, an eyebrow raised.

"It’s ugh…. been hectic, to say the least."

"Hectic, eh?"

"Y'mind telling me what's up? I might be able to help out."

She shrugged, as if life threatening danger was an everyday occurrence. Oh wait. She smiled. “Couldn’t be better.”

A sigh of relief from the officer.

"That’s good to hear… Last thing I want is someone getting hurt…" (Doesn’t matter if I just met them or not either…)

Pepper chuckled once more. “Not to worry. I’m pretty capable.” She almost said she’d been worse but that might have caused some concern….
