“Oh! I’ve been promoted t’Inspector now! So that’s summat. ‘Ow’re thin’s at the law firm?”

“The office has been running real slow as of late, but I’ve enjoyed the accompanying peace. It can get lonely though but I manage.”

Turnabout Storm: Prologue

She grabbed her notebook from her pocket and began scribbling down the notes from her meeting with the inspector... detective... whatever, almost bumping into the younger man from behind, but managing to keep herself steady while writing. "What do you think of the case, Mr Burner?" Emmy asked, "any ideas? I mean, you obviously know Mr Storm better than I do."

"We should go see him down at the detention center." Spark sighed. "I've known him since I entered Law School, but I never knew that he grew up here." He knew many things about Logan, but he never expected something like this. Talking to him was his main priority at the moment. "...You know a way out of here?" He chuckled, acknowledging how clueless he is on his current location.

"Logan Storm?" Emmy repeated, stepping protectively in front of Spark. She could tell that he was obviously not happy with the inspector’s results. "Inspec- I mean, Detective Fulbright, I am acquainted with the prosecutor, and he can’t be much older than Mr Burner here. By the state of those bodies, he must have been little less than a teen when they were killed. Surely this must cast doubt on your conclusions. What evidence is there?"

The woman had, fortunately, recovered from her previous shock, and was now trying to sound as much like him as she could. Though, it probably was best that she got out of this situation as soon as possible, considering her actions with Targent. Still… she couldn’t let Logan get in trouble for something he didn’t do.

Fulbright kept his confident smile intact, as he ordered one of the police officers to bring the weapon found… A lightweight katana. “Allow me to present the murder weapon… An interesting fact about this sword is the name engraved, ‘Logan’.” He informed, not mentioning the obvious bloodstain. “The autopsy is currently in the making, but it will not be done for a while. So I suggest you leave this to the police.” Our lawyer wasn’t expecting this kind of evidence to pop up. But as of right now, the only thing on his mind right now was to see Logan. They probably have him at the detention center already. Without uttering a word, Spark turned for the exit, only releasing a sigh.

"Why would a big sword like that have a little kid’s name on it…" Emmy thought aloud. Unless… it was put on after the murder? Though that seemed very unlikely. Only then did she notice Spark walking away, and hurried after him. "Mr Burner?" she asked. "Would you… like me to assist you?"

The brown haired attorney glanced over Emmy and began to think for a moment. "You know what..." He paused. "Sure." He then gave her a sweet smile. Spark understood that she wanted to help Logan out, and that meant a lot to the brown haired lawyer. He attempted to sort his thoughts out. A double murder that occured in what seemed to be Logan's past home in the middle of nowhere, both victims sliced in half. Spark already knew that he was in for one tough case.

Pepper comes up to the lawyer’s door in the middle of the night, dressed in pajamas with a store bought chocolate cake. When he answers, she smiles tiredly. “It’s 11:59 so technically I’m not late, and I swear I have a good excuse. Happy birthday buddy.”

"Aw, Pep." He smiles kindly. "You didn't have to... But thanks." He places the cake on his table nearby, to place in the fridge in a little while, then turning back to a sleepy Pepper. "You should get some sleep now." He suggested.

As the closet opened, Emmy let out a loud, ear splitting scream that rang through the field they had just passed through.

"Wh-What the hell is this?!" she screamed, falling back against the wall behind them. Strange… she had thought all this would end when her time with the professor did, and even during that time she had never seen something so gory. Her field was usually only old rocks and puzzles. "Mr Burner we… we need to call the police!" she exclaimed.

"No kidding!" Quickly, Spark grabbed his phone and called the police, as fast as he could…..

Moments later, the police arrived, most notably, one Detective Fulbright appeared on the scene. Spark explained the situation and showed him the bodies. After a few minutes of investigation, he and the police have come to a conclusion,amounts to this…

"With what little evidence of the crime has been found so far, the amount of suspects are limited to only one… One Logan Storm. The warrant for his arrest has been submitted, the police searching for him as we speak." Fulbright announces to the two.

"Ngh…" Is what Spark would say to this. His best friend getting arrested… Who knew it would come to this…?

It wasn’t Pepper who answered, however. It was Miles, a sleepy Gregory in hand. Miles appeared fine, but he looked…. tired as well. As if he hadn’t been sleeping. Never a good sign. “Ah…. Mr. Burner. It certainly has been a while…. how can I help you?”

"Edgeworth…" A while indeed. Spark just presented a simple smile and nod. Little Greg looked so cute…! …Anyways, the lawyer went on to ask, "Is Pepper here?" Something tells him that this visit won’t be as straighhtfoward as he thought…

Edgeworth’s expression darkened at the man’s question. “….. I’m afraid not. Pepper she…..” He sighed, holding the infant close. “She’s in the hospital….”

As Edgeworth's expression darkened, so did Spark's at the other's answer. "How did..." He looked away for a small moment, before looking at the Prosecutor once again. "What happened to her?"

Back to California he goes... Man, it's been a while. What, three months? Something like that. Anyways, Spark was just waiting patiently at the airport to board the plane back home from Europe. It's been a long three months of work and such, but he's glad to be able to go back home now. "Five minutes..." He said to himself, releasing a quiet sigh. He wondered as to what would await him back home..... Probably the usual, but you never know.
