Just in! A 1966 #fender Jazz Bass in its original black tolex hard shell case. - This is a relatively clean and original example of a "transitional" early-CBS era Fender Jazz bass, with typical 1965-into-'66 features. The most notable is the pearl dot rosewood fingerboard *without* the binding that appeared by early '66. The neck is dated DEC 65 and would be one of the very last unbound ones made. A Fender Jazz Bass they recently came into the workshop for an overhaul. This one was suffering from overly noisy electronics and an intermittent distortion on sustained notes.... easily diagnosed on an active circuit, but this circuit is passive. On opening the control cavity, there was a very small toothed washer from one of the mini switches floating around loose, and occasionally grounding out the tip of the output socket to the shielded bass of the cavity. A strange fault with an easy fix. I also improved the cavity shielding, replaces a faulty switch and given it a full setup and service. This is seriously one of the best sounding and playing Jazz Basses I’ve had on the pleasure to work on.
