modern art exhibit titled "I bet you won't kill yourself" that is just a loaded gun on a podium in a museum
ahh okay!! get into it!! i’m thinking of a few similar contemporary conceptual art exhibits / performances! in different ways they all ask the question “what would you do with a loaded gun?”
Chris Burden “Shoot” (1971) - title really says it all, a performance piece where the artist had his friend shoot him. yeah. he was just hit in the arm, he lived. also see “Transfixed” where he like nailed himself to a car
Marina Ambramovic “Rhythm 0” (1974) - performance where the artist sat in a room with various objects (including a gun) let the audience do whatever they wanted to her. at some point one audience member was yelling at her and pointing it at her head and another audience member pulled him away. the vibes of this one make me think of Yoko Ono’s “Cut Piece” too bc of the vulnerability and the audiences eventual devolution into violence
Ed Keinholz “Still Live” (1974) - a loaded gun on a random timer set up in front of a chair and the audience could choose to sit in the chair knowing the gun could go off at any time
