Dear new Sparty's worker, The greeter in the front lobby of the building does not know where you are supposed to park when you come to work. They are also not responsible for figuring out where you can park so you don't have to pay. That is up to your boss, manager or someone that is not the greeter in the front of the building.

Patient Pharmacy Tech: How can I help you?
Says the same thing Patient: Hi, I am calling to get a refill on a medication.
PPT: No problem, Can I get your name and date of birth
SSTP: Yes my name is... and by DOB is ......
PPT: Ok, what medication are you looking for?
SSTP: Well I need my .... and the phone system says there is no refill so I thought I would call to ask for it.
PPT: Well, I don’t see that there is a new prescription or available refill for this medication.
SSTP: I have been taking this medication for 20 years.
PPT: Oh, well in that case.... I still can’t fill it.
SSTP: Even though I have been taking it for 20 years?? You can’t just fill it this one time?
PPT: No problem!! I will commit insurance fraud and break the law to fill this prescription for you. Since you have been on this for 20 years, we certainly don’t need a new prescription from the doctor. I am certain for the past 20 years you have had to get a new prescription every year... but after 20 years, you don’t have to do that anymore.
SSTP: I will call the doctor.

What is the emergency
The phone rings and it’s a nurse calling the clinical pharmacy to ask how long her stock order is going to be. It’s 10am and she dropped it off at 8am.
“I just realized that we are out of Gardasil!!” - Frantic nurse
“Oh my, do you have a patient in the room?” - Pharmacy Tech
“No, just noticed we were out! When can I come pick it up? - FN
“Well if you need the Gardasil right now, you can certainly come pick up a box now.” - PT
“How long will it take for you to fill the order?” - FN
“I can have it all ready in an hour, but you can still come and get the Gardasil if you need it!!” - PT
“No, I will just wait and come in an hour for it all!” - FN *click
If you didn’t need the one product ASAP then why did you call? If you can wait an hour you can wait all day. Just so you know, a whole box of something needed ASAP is not an emergency. An emergency is a nurse running down the stairs to get a pill that will lower someones blood pressure that is out of control. ASAP means someone having a severe allergic reaction to something and you need some Epinephrine. The pharmacy should move quickly to refill a prescription for a rescue inhaler when the patient standing at the counter is out of medication and having an Asthma attack. What is not an emergency is when you don’t plan ahead and notice that you are down to your last vial or box of something.

Give them an insurance card. If you don’t have an extra then have them take a picture of your card. (front and back) When they come for freshman orientation they should establish themselves as a patient at a local pharmacy. If they are sick and need something ASAP the doctor can send the info to that pharmacy and it will be filled without your child having to wait to sign up. There is nothing more annoying then having to talk on someone iPhone trying to get all the information we need.

how many chances does it take
So everyone says that people deserve a second chance. How many second chances does someone get. How many times does it take before the day comes when you get it right. In life there is no cap to the chances you get to finally get it right. The real questions you face is who will still be there when you finally get to the time that sticks. So the real question is how many chances can you give before you give up. I wish I had that answer. I wish there was a way to know that this is the time to be sure of. Perhaps this time life will actually work out in your favor. Until I know the truth I must tread lightly and protect my heart. I give chances cause I know how hard it is. It be nice if this is the chance ...

Fears
It's interesting how the things some people fear leave others to not understand at all when you are afraid. I have a fear of falling. And while I don't really have a fear of being in the plane crash I do have a fear of air pockets and rough flights. That felling of up and down with no warning drive me crazy and into a complete anxiety attack.
At the same time I don't get why my sister has to get off the road and hide under eyes from lightning strikes. I also don't understand why my mother can't come into my house because I have a cat. It's no big deal to me.
So this is what I have decided. In order to understand how someone else feels I should put them in my place. As much as I wouldn't want to be forced to fall down or ride a roller coaster I can understand that they wouldn't want to encounter their fear.
I wish people could understand that riding in a plane would be for me like sitting in a room of cats you can't see or under a dark cloud that could crack at any moment.

TV rant
So I've had the last two days off. Here is my problem with the new fall daytime line up. How is it that show's like Maury and Springer are still on the air. They all are the same episode over and over. "you are the father" ... "that was a lie" .... "Jerry Jerry Jerry". I also found out that Anderson Cooper's show is off the air. Now that show was interesting. It contained substance. You could actually learn something and become a better person from it. So Anderson is gone and all we are left with is stupid annoying shows about sex, lies, and possible money hungry people looking for a come up. Dear all those people who are home during the daytime hours and watch these daily shows. STOP!! Don't give them the ratings. Then maybe they will just go away.

Contrary to popular opinion pharmacy workers do not get bored and randomly transfer your prescriptions to another pharmacy (where you have had others transferred around the same time) just to keep it interesting. As a matter of fact you may think about thanking them when you request a refill with one of their old bottles and they notice the transfer and get it back. No instead you decide to fly OFF the handle and get "heated" because you think they have done something you didn't want. How interesting it is when after a phone call by the pharmacists to the other pharmacy confirms that they not only was the transfer requested but you were the one that signed for the pick up. Further the sound of sympathy and hilarity over the phone leads the pharmacist to believe that you have a reputation. No one wants a reputation of being difficult. You don't want people to dread you coming in. The last thing you want to do is tick of the people that are giving you medication that is designed to keep you alive. As a matter of fact you should consider yourself lucky that you have chosen a place that will just take what you give and not find the pharmacy equivalent of spitting in your food. No they just talk about you the rest of the day and then rant to a blog about how stupid you are. You need to get laid. Perhaps we should randomly transfer a Levitra prescription in for your husband. That could be just what you need....

When a Doctor of Pharmacy is telling you that you got what the doctor ordered. That APAP stands for Acetaminophen you can believe it. You say the above statement in one breath and then continue to demand that the doctor be called to confirm the prescription because you don't think its right. I don't even know how to address this. The one thing I do know is that your wife has been out of surgery almost 24 hours and you haven't given her any pain meds because you don't like the word substitute. If I were your wife you would be punched in the face as soon as the pain subsides.

So by now most people have either heard about or watched the VMA performance of Miley. I don't know what I'm going to do now. After that I will never be able to look at teddy bears the same. Beetlejuice's tux is forever tainted. The foam finger ... well.. just ewwww. And no one's tongue should be out that much. When someone takes a shower and settles down on the couch to snuggle with their dog and watch some TV they should not feel violated, in need of another shower and like they have to cover their dogs eyes. Oh the horror... and ... ehhh.. just no to the foam finger.
Now Justin Timberlake... yes!!! YES!!!! That my dear Miley is how you do it. That is now you last in the music. The greatest performance of the night was a mash up of amazing songs by a legend. A man who got to that status by singing amazing songs and performing out of his mind. The performance that includes nothing more than a man and his songs dancing with amazing dancers. Take the lesson Miley. Say "Bye Bye Bye" to the gimmick and class it up a little... throw on that "Suit and Tie".
