[ Our bonds were severed by fate ]

Whilst father had forbidden her from going near the outrealm gate, curiosity had gotten the most of her. What was the worse that could happen if she went near it? There were always other outrealm gates in the worlds they led to so she’d always be able to return home, and she was very skilled with a sword, despite what her father thought. She wouldn’t be defeated so easily.

She’d asked Anna to take her to the world where her father was from since she was curious about her family, and sure enough, she was taken to Ylisse.

Soleil found herself in a field outside a beautiful castle, much brighter than the Nohrian castle. There was so much to take in, like the blooming green grass below her feet, or the fluffy clouds in the peaceful blue sky above her, or the hoard of monsters approaching her, this place re– WAIT. A hoard of monsters approaching her?

“E-Eh?? What are THOSE MONSTERS?!!”

She screeched, grabbing her sword and preparing for combat.

Ever since the others had left for the outrealm gates, off to some strange other world, Cynthia had been focussing on her training as a Pegasus knight, rather than missing her friends that had left ( though she did miss them a lot ). It just so happened to be her shift, flying over the wide expanses of the Ylissen fields when she spotted the hoard. Immediately on alert, the princess swooped down to the other person who was currently caught in the middle.

Darting in front of the other woman, lance at the ready, Cynthia swiped at the monsters, managing to dispatch a few before another large wave came at them again. She had thought that the most of them had disappeared after the vanquishing of Grima - she never expected to see this many at once.

Another fell to the end of her lance as she rode, positioning herself between the other and the risen.

“A-Are you alright, miss?”

♦: Slow dancing

NONSEXUAL ACTS OF INTIMACY.

One thing that Cynthia had never had the patience for back in Ylisse - learning to dance for important balls that her father had made her attend. She just didn’t like how slow it could be, and her clumsy feet were no help at all, ending up with her tutor giving up her after the few hundred times she had crushed his feet beneath her own.

Something seemed different with Inigo though, she actually enjoyed the times when he pulled her close to him, hands taking hers to spin her around and waltzing them around the room. It was fun, and she liked the closeness and the intimacy they had in these blissful moments of peace. Most of the time, someone would burst in the door ( mostly Owain ) and disturb their moment of serenity, but this time no such thing happened.

With the music playing softly through her ears, hands enveloped by Inigo’s warmth and the gentle swaying movements, all she could think was that she never wanted this to end - to carry on like this forever.

♘: Cuddling in a blanket fort

NONSEXUAL ACTS OF INTIMACY.

Now that they had completely built their blanket fort - there was only one thing left to do. The fort was made up of both Inigo and Cynthia’s blankets ( and also the one they may have stolen borrowed from Owain ) as well as the dining room chairs to keep it stable, countless cushions taken from the beds and couches and finally fairy lights that had been hung up inside the cosy nest to give somewhat of a light source.

Grabbing Inigo’s hand in her own, the young princess stole her prince into what she would like to thing of as a blanket castle. Though the fort was barely tall enough for Inigo to sit upright, Cynthia herself managed to fit in snugly, pulling Inigo by the arms until they were both laying down in a pile on the soft blanket floor.

Cynthia wiggled so she was comfortably laying with her head on Inigo’s chest, blue hair spreading like the sea below her as she took Inigo’s hand to trace with her own.

“This is fun!”

There she was. Admittedly, Inigo hadn’t been expecting Cynthia to rush out so quickly, perhaps she was hungrier than he’d realised. As she plumped over his shoulder, the smell of her angelic perfume replaced that of the pancakes cooking. Inigo took a moment to appreciate if before replying.

“Apparently there’s a whole day dedicated to pancakes, so I thought i’d make us some! Gaius said they taste better with a lot of sugar, but he’s a sugar addict so we can probably tone it down a bit, love.”

A chuckle followed after, as he lifted the pan up suddenly, flipping the pancake into the air… Unfortunately, inigo was as good as cooking as his father, and the pancake stuck to the low ceiling.

“Pancake... day? Woah!!” watching with wide-eyed amazement as Inigo continued to work on his cooking - it was true that Gaius did make things with a lot of sugar, she had seen what happened when her mother had tried one of his pies. It was not something she liked to experience again.

The amazement didn’t last for long, as soon enough there was a pancake sticking to the ceiling, dangling precariously over their heads. Cynthia stared at Inigo for a second before erupting into a fit of giggles and tiny snorts because, wow, she thought Inigo was good at cooking. “I-I don’t think that w-worked.”

She managed to stop her laughing right up until the pancake finally fell back down with a splat on top of the oven, wherein another long string of laughs came from her mouth.

Now that she was officially engaged to Inigo ( something she still couldn’t believe had actually happened ) there was thing she ought to do for definite - and that was speak to Inigo’s father. Approaching him with a skip, she gave him a big smile and an enthusiastic wave.

“Hey! I was wondering if I could talk to you about Inigo~” A small giggle because, this was kind of embarrassing after all, and she wanted to make a good impression on his family. Just better keep up the good manners like her father had taught her to do.

“Far too long since we’ve seen each other” hug

Cynthia hadn’t seen him for days, not since he had insisted on holing himself up in the library with Morgan and not coming back out for a few days, so when Inigo finally came stumbling back through the door to their shared apartment Cynthia was running at him full force.

Flying at him with her arms outstretched, she quickly wrapped her arms tightly around him as she squeezed him tightly.

“Don’t go for that long ever again!”

Her complete and utter shock was evident on her face right from the second Inigo dropped to his knee. A hand clasped over the princess’ mouth as a squeak escaped her lips. What was he doing? Was he really–

The question was answered shortly enough, Inigo speech making her cheeks hotter and hotter at every second, Cynthia’s eyes were wider than any moon could ever be as she gaped down at Inigo. Not only that, but she could tell that was his mother’s ring. Something that she knew he held very dear to him, and there was no way he would give it up easily. She couldn’t stop her own words spilling from her mouth in a mixed jumble.

“You’re the only person I’ve ever liked Inigo, all this time! I never thought that we would end up like this, I thought I would always be watching you chase girls around but I can see now that was stupid! I’ve wanted this for so long and every moment I’m with you my heart still goes like crazy and it’s been the best time of my life! I love you more than anything Inigo and I hope I can spend the rest of my life with you, you’re my number one hero!”

With the biggest grin on her face yet, she could help the genuine laugh that sounded through the room, the princess falling down on her knees to meet her prince as she wrapped her hands around Inigo’s own.

“Yes! Of course I will!”

She said yes?

She said… Yes?

If this was a dream, then he never wanted to awaken. This was an act he never wanted to repeat. If it was a dream, then it really did feel real. The lack of words able to come out of his mouth, the rising in his pulse to an almost dangerous level, the redness of his cheeks, they were all signs that this was not a dream. Such feelings could not be replicated in any way.

Standing up suddenly, Inigo placed the ring onto her finger, before pulling her into the tighest hug he’s ever given, picking her up and spinning around, placing his lips delicately onto hers, eyes closed, already imagining their future.

“Cynthia… I…. There have been so many speeches i’ve planned for this moment. I could talk about our past, how we changed time and slayed a dragon, or about our future, which is luckily unknown to us, but full of hope, or even about our feelings, but even that’s a little too cheesy even for me. Cynthia, I love you more than the sun likes to shine, and you are my star in the night sky, guiding my every movement. Before you, I had only one purpose in my life: To avenge my parent’s death and defeat Grima but now… I have you. You are the most important part of my life, and i’d be lost without. You’ve always been there for me and I know that’ll never change so… I want to prove to you how much I love you with a promise. A promise to always love and protect you. In short, Cynthia, will you marry me?”

The apartment is being filled with the pleasant smell of sweet deserts, slowly cooking to perfection. Cynthia’s been in her room for a while now but Inigo knows the smell will draw her out. He got the recipe for these pancakes by none other than Gaius himself, so he knew they’d be good.

What was that smell? It was a nice mix of sweet, baking and just something downright tasty. The princess simply had to check for herself. Delicate fingers curling around the door frame, she poked her head out carefully, taking a sniff before sneaking behind the sofa. This was an investigation after all.

Only, it didn’t last for long, it just smelt too good to hide any longer. Cynthia slipped behind Inigo into the kitchen, popping up next to his shoulder to glance down at his work.

“Watcha’ maaaking?”

He’d had the box for over a month now, keeping it well hidden from Cynthia’s knowledge. He knew there was a special royal family ring he was supposed to use but… Under the circumstances he wasn’t exactly able to acquire such an item, so he decided to use another ring just as important.

His mother’s.

It wasn’t permanent by any standards, but to him, the ring held the same value. Whenever they returned home, he’d be happy to get hold of the royal family ring he needed, but for now this would do.

As he sought out Cynthia, he knew he had to do this. He’d gotten Lucina’s blessing already, which was like fighting an all new war. She didn’t let up easy, but he was able to get her blessing, there was no way he could delay any longer.

Finally coming up to her location, he called her name gently, waiting for her to turn around felt like an eternity, his blood raced, chest tight, hardly able to breathe.

“I have something i’d like to ask you.”

“--Ah!” At the sound of her name, the young princess spun round suddenly, clutching her books tight to her chest. She had been reading up on the different sights around the island, intent on finding the most mysterious and exciting of them and dragging her friends along to investigate.

However, seeing Inigo, her eyes immediately lit up at the sight of her boyfriend. Placing the books down, she quickly zipped in to give him a brief but sweet peck on the cheek before drawing back to clasp her hands behind her back with a wide smile over her lips, cheeks a light red.

“Of course! You can ask me anything~” A nod of her head as Cynthia let a tiny giggle escape her lips. Inigo seemed a lot more... flustered than usual, and that was saying something. Whatever it was, she hoped he would be able to tell her, after those few weeks he had acted more than strange, especially around Owain.

“But Luciii, daddy said I could have this one!” Cynthia pouted up at her older sister, clutching the bear close to her chest. She was sure her father had said the plush was hers, though he might have said something about sharing, but she ignored that part.

“It’s so cuuute, look at it’s little button nose! I’m going to call it… Sumia, after mummy!” The younger princess giggled loudly, swooping the bear around the room above her head, as though trying to imitate flying on a pegasus. “You’ve got all those other toys you can play with!”

“ Keep your eyes closed ”

The young dancer whispered again, guiding Cynthia through the down center and up a snowy mountain. He’d already planned the upcoming evening together a few days ago, and had slowly been hiding things around the island so he could easily get everything ready when Cynthia and himself arrived.

Their first destination was on top of the very snowy mountain they were climbing right now. There were a few icy patches when they nearly slipped, but they continued onwards, finally reaching the top of the hill. Leaving Cynthia to stand alone for a moment, knowing only he had a surprise for her, Inigo grabbed a sledge from behind a tree, readying it in front of Cynthia.

“ …Open your eyes ”

He almost hummed those words with his excitement. He had a day of festive activities that they could only dream of doing growing up in their ruined future of Ylisse. Now, though would get to do all of them. Together.

Inigo was lucky that the princess trusted him to lead her all the way up a steep mountain. She could feel the snow crunching beneath her feet, soaking through her shoes slightly as they ascended. Inigo had told her earlier to wear lots of layers, so she had piled jumper over jumper onto herself, and wrapped a cute little scarf around her neck.

She was finally told to open here eyes, at first it was too bright for her and she had to squint to be able to see, but once her eyes got used to seeing properly again, she let out a gasp at the sight. They were on top of a hill, covered in pure white snow, and were met with the beautiful view of the sea not too far off.

Clapping her hands together excitedly at the sight of the sledge, she giggling and smiled widely at Inigo.

“This is perfect!!”
