I can't handle.
Such a fantastic response to silly stereotypes about opera.
Once more, with music.
In case you needed another reason to love the blues. This elephant knows where it's at. Yea, yea ending a sentence with a...
More summer jams. More Robin Thicke. I love great covers.
The catchiest song of this summer, now empowering women.
Ballet is to human movement what opera is to the human voice. That's how I feel anyway. Sure, it's technical and the training takes a lifetime's dedication. The forms are rigid and the institutions are ancient, but there's a reason it all still holds today. It's so intensely beautiful. And who doesn't like to marvel at human potential?
I am vastly amused.
I watched The Mask of Zorro last night and I loved it as much as ever. Don't judge me. Dat Antonio Banderas... yeeeesh.
I always remember this concerto. Know why? Because the second movement is basically Celine Dion's "All By Myself." No joke.
Second movement starts at about 10:40. Jump ahead if you don't believe me.
Grażyna Bacewicz. I've never heard her work performed live, which is one of my life's greatest personal tragedies.
And piano quintets are great ensembles. Love them.
Probably one of the most aptly named pieces ever written. I thought this was a particularly outstanding live performance.
For the lovers of higher quality recordings, Jeremy Denk's 2012 release, Beethoven/Ligeti was one of my favorite albums of last year.
Universally lauded, criminally underrated. That's how I'd describe The Raconteurs. This isn't just because I adore Jack White. Check out that live energy. That is something else.
This was my go-to song for teenaged angstfests. Full blast. On repeat.
It was also the theme song of my all time favorite TV show (Freaks and Geeks).
God. (It's Sacred Sunday.)
