Logicality has such big childhood friends to lovers energy
A mindless ramble—honestly I feel a bit embarrassed about this post, but Tumblr at this point might as well be my personal page for all things logicality and other things that I post on my other socm on the side🙂
Especially like those types that used to be close in the beginning then start to estrange over time and which later, they truly start to find each other again.
I could perhaps think deeper about why I feel this way but the brief(hah, brief?)overview is just:
It just really does feel like the relationship between Logan and Patton is strangely, complicatedly personal at times (the onesies, the puns) in a way that I can see occurring in the childhood friends trope.
Like they don’t HAVE to know each other in and out like most complicated childhood friend relation(ships) do (Logan’s relationship with emotions and by association, Patton ..Patton not understanding practicality(?) at times)
but they still feel awfully… intimate? when they have moments together.
I can name around like 2 childhood friends ships that give off the same feeling as to what I’m describing above rn haha
Like. Like. I think about Logan’s insecurity of “not being taken seriously” due to “looking silly” which then becomes -> “not being listened to,” and then sometimes I look at Patton with those traits of him in mind. Puns, dad jokes, onesies, the constant statements of calling Patton silly, Oh brother.
Not sure if the reason I feel that way is just because of my bias towards the pair but it feels like that to me a lot.
I mean, another reason as to why I feel this way about them is because i personally do consider Logan and Patton to be hypothetically the first two sides ever formed in Thomas at birth as well and the fact that they were specifically designed to match and parallel each other, which is so resonating with me.
the fact that they are the only two sides who are authority figures who hold responsibility for their children’s life, matching designs (logos, to the fact their designated side colour falls under the same family -> blue, glasses)
I have a whole. Whole NOTES compilation about them, and their parallels and stuff guys. I think it’s only gonna get bigger and worse from now on as I continue to try and rewatch the Sanders Sides series without procrastinating but I digress
Where they are now? I feel like they’re in the “estranged” phase of the trope now, lol. It’s pretty apparent in the recent episodes—if you compare S1 to S2 it really did feel like they’re “broke up” lol
(I think it’s more so stopped “working” together. That incompatibility that has become more noticeable between them that I heard that people seemingly have brought up recently)
^ on the topic of that (yes I WILL be going off topic) that’s what makes them so compelling to me.
I feel like the general consensus of their ship in the fandom (especially seemingly during its prime?) was that they are opposites attract. Sunshine x not having it, yadiya…
IMO They are “Opposites Attract,” not in the way where their opposites/contrasting traits end up complementing each other, but rather separating each other.
The strangest part is? They could very easily be the former if their individual issues (Logan here mainly)(he’s my favourite character. I get to diss him) were worked out! Maybe it’ll improve by the finale?
That’s so lovely and awesome! Oh I love that. I don’t mean it in a sarcastic way. I truly do. I love these sorts of conflicts in relationships.
Anyways that’s enough. I sound absolutely off-kilter and I don’t want to further ingrain that sort of image of me into the poor reader who’s reading this. Thanks for reading if you got this far.
