Is it time for healthcare providers to reinvent the wheel?
Owning a hospital is easy, successfully running one is not. While the hospital costs have been rising, the occupancy rates have been steadily falling. The balance sheets look redder than ever, posing a serious conundrum for the hospital management. More than 80% of India’s population works on an out-of-pocket expense giving way to lack of accountability, transparency and trust between the key stakeholders; Hospitals, Insurance and Patients. This lack of trust is the key reason behind leakages wherein patients opt out of hospitals and choose to get admitted to another one of their choice. This avoidable leakage causes hospitals to lose at least 20% of their revenues, if not more.
In a scenario like this, what is the elixir that will get hospitals to outperform? It’s the 3T model – Transparency, Trustworthy, Tangibility
TRANSPARENCY in clinical outcomes. Service delivery with honest outcomes makes the patients at ease with the organization they put their health in the hands of.
TRUSTWORTHY in health monitoring. Hospitals that show empathy and prolonged care coordination, not only during but even pre but also during post hospitalization stand out in the minds of the patients
TANGIBLE in data. Hospitals that make promises and deliver based on empirical data prove to the patients that they have stood by their promise.
It is only through a NEW SERVICE APPROACH that the hospitals in today’s time can emerge as true testaments of medical service and not just an entity with a short lived brand cognizance.
Do you feel that hospitals need to change the way they look at premium service delivery ?
