Daily Drop Cap Challenge - E

this is my drop cap challenge for the letter E. I have no idea why but this letter was the most difficult for me - I have tried making it several times now, but I have always given up. I decided to go for a look where it is melted and shiny. I don't think it is too successful, but it is somewhat playful and I did not want to stress over it too much when it is really just a simple letter.

this is my drop cap for the letter o. it is supposed to be a lifesaver in water. this was probably one of my more creative ones. I wish I knew how to make the roundness of the lifesaver more apparent.

This is my U drop cap. I tried to go for a more renaissance-feel drop cap. I messed around with different textures until I found something that I believed worked.

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - Q

This is my drop cap for the letter Q! It is supposed to be a coffee cup. I think my drop caps are finally becoming more creative. I am getting way more comfortable with illustrator and indesign, so while this definitely needs improvement I am still very proud of it!

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - T

this is the letter t for my drop cap challenge. I think the colors go well together. I tried to make a more basic drop cap look, and I really played around with the different features that illustrator has to offer.

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - L

This is my drop cap for the letter L. The green background isn’t as strong on illustrator or in my files, but when I upload it to tumblr it is super bright. I like how I included the drop cap. It is strong but still cool how it is cursive

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - S

This is my  S drop cap. It is supposed to resemble a scarf. Originally, I had the background as purple but for some reason whenever I export things from illustrator, they come out as weird. The colors are a lot softer and blend a lot better/everything looks cleaner on my screen. If I were to edit this, I would like to add a couple more folds around the scarf.

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - J

this week I did the letter j. I made it to be like the tail of a cat, when they’re sitting or laying on a table let their tails dangle behind them. It is a simple interpretation of this type of event, and I think it is cute, simple, but fun. I think I would maybe like to learn how to add some more depth to make the cat body more obvious.

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - i

this is the letter i. I tried to make it look more of a person, and I think it looks like some sort of priest. I added little dashes throughout the letter and added the neck as well. I also played around with the “head”, or the dot, part of the letter, as well as making what seems to be a form of hands.

this is the letter f. I chose this green because I thought it would be young and vibrant. I decided to make a more traditional drop cap, and while making it I realized that it looks like a book mark. I am actually pretty proud of this

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - Y

I made the letter y for this weeks challenge. I tried to keep it clean, simple, and sleek. I manipulated the thickness of the letters and had them interact with each other in a way that enhanced the drop cap.

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - W

I made the W a little sloth or monkey. I thought it would be better if I became more creative/imaginative for this drop cap, and I played around with different fonts and this is what I came up with. I went with a gray background because I haven't done grey yet and I think the colors don’t clash. If I were to work on it more, I would probably think of ways to make the head and tail work well with the letter w without it completely changing the perception.

Daily Drop Cap Challenge - Z

This is my submission for the letter “Z”. I tried to make a more traditional drop cap that I have seen online, and while this one is definitely not as “classy” as the ones that I have seen, I thought that it was cooler that it was boxier and different. I also think that the colors all go well together.

Drop Cap Challenge - h

This is my drop cap for the lowercase letter h. I think the colors are very fun and go well together. The h is supposed to look like a chair with cushioning. I believe its simple but still has enough detail to look like the letter h.

Drop cap - A

This is my drop cap for the letter A. I was inspired by my boyfriend, who is always wearing AirPods. It is supposed to be funny but the inside of the a is an AirPods. It was supposed to be very simplistic, hence the white background and black lettering.

Drop Cap Challenge - G

This is my letter “G” for the drop cap challenge. I decided to go with cooler/calmer colors, and I wanted to make the G look like it was flapping in the wind, or as if it was pages of a book. I think it is simple yet still captures this idea and I can see it used in different logos. I especially like the top of the G.

Drop Cap Challenge - R

This is my drop cap challenge entry for the letter R. I did it so that the R inside was sharper and had random jabs/needles, which was a huge contrast from the bubbly R on the outer side, with the opacity down to 60%. I think it makes a good contrast for each other.
