and what if i . . .
0 0 1 . / CHUUNIN EXAMS.
tenten’s reaction in the chuunin exams was one that was uncharacteristic of her. as a kunoichi that had a year more experience than the rookie 9 and just generally someone shown to be analytical ( as shown in her road to tenten episode where she knows she is in a genjutsu and does everything to prove it ), tenten being unable to see that her opponent must have been doing something to evade her attacks earlier seems to be quite uncharacteristic.
for me, personally, the reason boils down to my headcanons for tenten, in part; for my tenten, she was orphaned after the nine tails attack and never knew her parents. as such, she never had a sense of identity that she always had searched for. she thought she found her identity in tsunade; however, in her inability to master medical ninjutsu and the techniques that tsunade had called her own, she felt that she had lost herself again.
it was when she was placed on team gai and found her love and proclivity for weapons that she really found who she was. she was the girl who never misses.
AS SUCH; her reaction when temari seemed to evade every single one of her attacks was one of disbelief. her first instinct wasn’t to analyze, it was to continue firing off attacks, to prove that she could hit her, to prove that she could be the person she had come to think of herself as.
I love her
real talk I love taking care of someone I love
MY FAVOURITE trope is the
“leave all your weapons” *takes out far more weapons than expected (or logically able to carry)*
and then
“i said ALL of them”
*takes out a dozen more weapons from increasingly improbable locations*
And then *stern look*
*pulls out one more tiny pistol*
