Finished mini-me animated piece.
“Thats the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard”
Mary Had a Little Lamb
•I edited the final Animatic for Mary Had a Little Lamb. Using the app CapCut. An app that Yvonne recommended and was easily accessible to me.
•I zoomed in on parts of each panel to more strongly tell the story.
•We were going to add music to our animatic. Like mary had a little lamb rock style. Or the Mary had a Little Lamb quiet lullaby. But we agreed it would take away for our animatic.
Edited the colour study.
We agreed that square colour swatches are much neater and easier to the eye. These colours match our aesthetic the most.
Here are the main colours we used for our Mary Had a Little lamb pitch. It mainly mixed the blues and the tans to get the right colours for the night time trees and background and added the white to the lightest blue to make the background sky for the day time.
Lucy’s Character Design https://k00278298.tumblr.com/
~
Mary, we were going for a gothic Wednesday Adam’s mixed with a hex girls vibe. We wanted to make a little innocent but also have this bad creepy aura about her.
Lamb - The hand drawn one was the original character design for Lamb but I didn’t like what I was doing with the character so I handed it over to Lucy.
She did the digital piece, which is what I was in-visioning for Lamb a sweet innocent like character.
Group project 4:
Today we began making our final panels. Maia and I were in charge of backgrounds and established a colour pallet. Lucy and Roe developed the characters.
I did the red panels + some extra for the interior and exterior of Mary's house.
At first my colours were too bright so I had to darken them. I wanted the interior of the house to look twisted with sliding panels and have the angles be off. This, on my opinion would give the viewers a visual insight into Mary's mental state based on her home life.
My work^^^
Maias work ^^^^
Group project 3:
Since I was placed in charge or asthetics this meant I worked with Maia to create a vibe through how the backgrounds look and our colour pallets. We created a story board and began doing prototype panels just so we understood what we were going for.
Group project 2:
Today we continued with our work. We also presented our idea to Paul and the rest of the class.
We decided to research two styles for the project. Scooby doo: hex girls and Dont starve.I was in favour of don't starve as it is a simple yet erie style.
Roe made a draft of the script, which we found extremely helpful. After the presentation, we all worked on character designs for the animation.
We decided on the Hex girls style and assigned ourselves roles.
Lambs mood board / character pitch.
When it came to Lambs character , i knew i would have to take inspiration from sheep. Sheep are pale animals.
I found that lambs are quiet innocent, bouncy and playful animals. I wanted to represent this personality in Lambs character design.
A lambs colours reminded be of albinism. After discussing this idea with the group we decided that Lamb would be an albino teenage girl.
I took exact colour swatches from multiple people with albinism for Lambs colour pallets.
For Lambs cute facial features i took inspiration from Blythe dolls.
After MANY different ideas and inspirations i finally decided on a lambs character design:).
I made mood boards to brainstorm more on Marys character. Due to the bloody scene at the end of the script. I decided that having accents of blood red in the characters design would portray Marys violent, bold and antisocial character.
I originally had Marys dress white but decided to change it later on as i felt it didn’t represent her character.
Also due to the fact it was very similar to Marys character design and dress. At this point i realised i wanted these two characters to contrast each other in their designs.
Wednesday Addams was a great inspiration for Mary’s style. I wanted it to be formal and uniform like due to the fact we see her in school that day.
Here is the character pitch I had created for Mary’s character.
Each person was in charge of a different area of our project. I was in charge of the protagonist (Mary) and the Lamb.
We decided to take inspiration from Scooby Doos animation style.
Alice May - Scooby Doo villian from Season 1.
I took inspiration from Alice May for my character Mary. The dark brows the how to shade and shape the hair and eyes.
For my new project I was paired into a group of four to create an animatic based off of nursery rhymes and two other genres that would influence our project. Our themes were Mary had a Little Lamb, horror and internet age 1990-present.
Firstly, the group and I began to brainstorm how we would incorporate each of these together to create a story. In the end this is the script we ended up with.

After a while of building up my paper mâché, I used a hairdryer to dry the piece and speed up the process. For the base, I colour matched my skin with acrylic paints I mixed. Again, I used the hairdryer t ray the paint in between layers.
Once the face and neck was completely painted I moved onto adding the finer details. Originally I was also going to use acrylic paints. Admittedly 1 am not the best at painting so , found using paints a little daunting.
So instead I thought it would he fun to experiment with makeup. I added my eyes, nostrils and eyebrows with makeup., found it surprisingly fun, it was although I was doing makeup on myself in the third person.
I used shades of brown, black and green for my eye colour.
For my hair, I cut and clipped on a large extension clip I had which matched my hair colour
Once I had finished, I felt as though something crucial was missing...
So of course, I had to add in my face piercings. I used a tiny bit of wire and little rhinestones. I stuck them on my nose and eyebrow using super glue.

The beginning of paper mâché.
The materials I used to begin making this mini-me 3D piece was a balloon, newspaper, glue, cardboard, brushes, and water. Building up strength in the structure with only newspaper was a tedious process, therefore it took a couple hours of layering to achieve the strength I desired.
I used cardboard on the nose and chin to create a little bit of skeletal structure. My face isn't completely round so I had to add cardboard to build my face shape.
1 kept a mirror in front of me so I could accurately build and mould my face.

Here is my wall spread of work, containing my brainstorming of my colour theme, how I will go about making my mini-me. I settled on paper mâché. I sketched some simple images of myself before making my 3D piece. I did this to help me visualise exactly how I want my mini-me to look like, keeping my facial proportions in mind.
Stephen green.
Stephen green has worked on 37 issues of comics. The comics he appears the most in is sea of stars (11 appearance, and also the book my piece was inspired by), the legacy of lither strode (2 appearances)and Hellboy and the BPRD 1954 -- black sun (2 appearances)

Completing my background
Using my sketch as a reference i redrew the landscape, this time adding coloured detail and shading. I used line art pens and ohuhu alcohol markers to complete this background piece.
I was happy with how the background turned out. I felt it represented the colour scheme i was going for and how heavily inspired i was by Stephen greens landscape piece.
