Final animation for MINI ME
I finished my mini me animation using the lip sync feature on adobe animate. Unfortunately my audio will not play on the video, due to an error myself, and other class mates are experiencing. Im happy with the animation, however i wish i made my mini me blend better with the back grounds.
Group project 4:
Today we began making our final panels. Maia and I were in charge of backgrounds and established a colour pallet. Lucy and Roe developed the characters.
I did the red panels + some extra for the interior and exterior of Mary's house.
At first my colours were too bright so I had to darken them. I wanted the interior of the house to look twisted with sliding panels and have the angles be off. This, on my opinion would give the viewers a visual insight into Mary's mental state based on her home life.

Group project 3:
Since I was placed in charge or asthetics this meant I worked with Maia to create a vibe through how the backgrounds look and our colour pallets. We created a story board and began doing prototype panels just so we understood what we were going for.
Group project 2:
Today we continued with our work. We also presented our idea to Paul and the rest of the class.
We decided to research two styles for the project. Scooby doo: hex girls and Dont starve.I was in favour of don't starve as it is a simple yet erie style.
Roe made a draft of the script, which we found extremely helpful. After the presentation, we all worked on character designs for the animation.
We decided on the Hex girls style and assigned ourselves roles.
Group project:
Today we began our group project. I was very happy with my group as I got my friends Roe, Lucy and Maia. We are group 8.
We were all given nursery rhymes to base an animation pitch around. We got "Mary had a little lamb.
We began brainstorming on how we could warp the original rhyme into something different. Roe suggested making it a horror based on the 2014 Slender man stabbings. We went along and decided to do our own research.
Animation7
Today we went on our trip to fota wildlife resort. There I had the opportunity to sketch the exotic animals in many different poses.
At first, I found it difficult to keep up because of some of the animals speed. But I eventually adjusted my style and was able to make many sketches which I am proud of.
Animation 6
Today we did group exercises to better allow us integrate with the community we have in first year animation.
First we had 3 groups. Group 1 did character heads, group 2 did the torso and group 3 (my group) did the legs.
Then we did life drawing in the church hall. We were put in groups of 4. 2 modeled while playing with toys and the other 2 drew them
Animation 5
Today we worked on our lip syncing. I was late coming in but I began prototype work digitally using the PC. First I used the templates that Paul gave me and then I began work on my own caricature.
Animation 4
Today we made and recorded our sentences for our caricatures to lipsinc to. My line was originally "I am in a custody battle, custody is being forced upon me". I thought it was funny but Yvonne though it was goo long and I agreed. So I settled for "She took the legal mini figs".
I then made mouth drawings depending on the words and sounds used. After this I made the mouths out of plasticine.
Then I painted the bust.
Animation 4
Today, my animation class went on a drawing walk around Limerick. We went by johns Castle to the treaty stone and back to arthurs Quay. We did quick sketches of the areas.i was happy with how mine came out, but I wish I was faster at drawing so that there would've been more.
These are most of the locations I sketched.
These are the sketches
Animation 3
Today be began making models of ourselves. We had the option of using either paper materials or clay materials. I chose clay. I used plasticine to make my caricature. Before that I sketched myself out in a stylistic way.
I chose my first drawing. I made a base for the head, neck and shoulders using cardboard and paper. It was only visible from the back
I was actually very happy with how it turned out. Since I only had access to white plasticine, I decided that I would paint the bust in acrylic the next day.
Animation 2
Today we went to people's park in order to sketch the world around us and developed our skills of world building. While there I became attracted to the steeple of a church in the distance and began pencil sketching it. Then i went over it in markers to give it a kind of "Maus" look to it.
I wanted it to feel cold yet lived it.
Animation
Today we went to the limerick library to fund books that could inspire us ,through illustrations, on the art of world building. I got a few books including A Chinese life, Batman: Death in the family and Because there was a fire in my head.
The book that had the most influence on me was the graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegleman. The book follows his father's experience of the holocaust as a Polish Jew.
The backgrounds are black and white and very sketchy. They give a cold feeling to the world around it.
I decided that I would emulate this in my work on world building going forward.
Reflection
I much preferred this semester to semester one. I lobed how fast paced it was as it gave me a creative burst from the pressure of a time limit. This allowed me to make a fun animation, a class looking skull and a painting that my friend is going to love. I really did enjoy it, but I found that even missing a day could set you far back. Thankfully, despite a family emergency, I feel I was able to fully show movement through the theme of fighting.
Painting 6:
Today I finished my painting of my friend. At his request, I decided to bloody him up in order for him to look tough. For the face I felt inspired by the way Jack b yeats painted people's faces in his later years.
I was so happy with the way it came out. I wish I could have worked on the face more to make it look more realistic. I also wish I could have attended more workshops. Over all I am delighted with how it finished.
Animation 6:
Today I had time to finish my animation and get it to the goal of 10 seconds. I decided that the last two seconds should be of the nazi falling and then bleeding out.
For what it is I am very happy with my animation and I genuinely had a lot of fun making it. If I could change one thing I would have done it digitally. I feel like it could have looked much sharper from a computer than on a white board.
