Sufism is mystical Islamic belief and practice in which followers seek to find the truth of divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience. It consists of a variety of mystical paths that are designed to ascertain the nature of humanity and to facilitate the experience of the presence of divine love and wisdom in the world. Though the roots of many Sufi practices can be traced to various non-Islamic religious practices in ancient Europe, Africa, and India, the movement itself grew out of early Islamic asceticism that developed as a counterweight to the increasing worldliness of the expanding Muslim community. Later on, elements and practices from other religions that were compatible with the mystical theology of Sufism were adopted into its fold.

I am a fat girl and I hardly ever see fat people, fat people of colour celebrated in these moodboards. Fat people such existing, doing amazing things, their style, their aesthetics, their art and their drive to live life gloriously inspite of the pain of fatphobia that is prevalent in the society is so beautiful.

What is it about a fat body that is so offensive? How on earth does the melanin in my skin incite a frown? Have you seen this skin in the sun?! Whew! The golden undertones that highlight my cheekbones are glorious! The rolls that make up my person are warm and inviting. No one that has been embraced by them leaves unsatisfied. In my hands there is healing. In my presence, I house joy.
