It is finally put into words!!
Beautiful sunset to end Day 1 of Week 2
this speaks to me on a spiritual level
the most important thing to know about the plot of hamlet is that it’s so convoluted that the main character is kidnapped by pirates and it’s not even really a major plot point
THIS IS IT
THIS IS MY FAVORITE POST
And everything that happens in it happens because Ghost Dad
and ear poison
And Hamlet’s plan to avenge his ghost dad involves staging a play
love Hamlet
“‘Sup guys? Can we come to the BBQ?”
Some days you just have to say ‘fuck it, I did what I could today’ and just let go of all the stuff you wanted to do. Life is too short to be angry with yourself for being human.

A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.
Lemony Snicket, Horseradish (via theperksofbeingabookseller)
It's from Please Like Me, an Australian comedy by comedian Josh Thomas.
when you know something is spelled wrong, but you don’t know how to actually spell it
If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.

When I threaten a consequence and the kids don’t think I’m actually going to follow through with it.
*finishes coffee* I really want more coffee
But nobody should feel guilty for wanting a decent income.
When we focus on how “we’re not in it for the income,” which believe me, I have said and do believe to some extent we under-value ourselves and our profession.
Teaching is an important profession. We need good teachers. We need to attract the best teachers we can AND create circumstances to help retain.
If you don’t allow me to make a salary that a) shows a respect for what I do b) allows me to be able afford things reasonable things, c) doesn’t force me into looking for additional income, d)isn’t competitive to professionals in other fields with the same amount of experience of education, and e) you teeter on basically requiring me to spend my personal income on things NEEDED and REQUIRED to do in my job because you don’t provide them….
Why in the world would I stay?
The kids of course. The passion. But the mindset of not in it for the income makes teachers that seek a decent income the bad guys. Because we should “do it for the kids.” There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be able to support yourself. Teachers are underpaid. Teachers are underpaid.
Teaching: In it for the outcome; deserving of a better income.
