Here we go!
Considering about 3 weeks ago I had never touched after effects and only had used illustrator once for five minutes five years ago I’m pretty happy :). But want to improve.

Here we go!
Considering about 3 weeks ago I had never touched after effects and only had used illustrator once for five minutes five years ago I’m pretty happy :). But want to improve.
Sewing it all together!
I had 3 different files I had worked in so it was time to sew it all together :D
Strawberries again...
So its been a long couple of weeks internally swearing at illustrator and after following tutorials I feel myself becoming more comfortable with using it :) I have redone my strawberry with no tutorials just the same inspiration.
First attempt:
Now:
I am well aware it does have a certain radishy element to it...But rather a better looking radish than a worse looking strawberry :)
Ballooon text!
Going back to the first images I was inspired by one of them was from Marzia Bisognin:
I love the roundness and playfulness of the text here :).
So after watching a tutorial on balloon text:
I gave it a try myself for the video :).
Drawing an Island!
Since travel is very important and all of the places I love to visit are surrounded by water I wanted to have an flat design Island :). One of my favourite places I have visited was Enoshima and Ainoshima (cat island :D!!!) both tiny islands in Japan. And then of course in Finland my partner’s family live in an island city.
Anyways so I saw Gigantica’s tutorial:
Which I loved! But since theres so much detail there I wanted to turn it into my own so I drew up to here as a base:
And started tweaking it into my own. I also used these tutorials along the way:
To make my final big illustration:
I have a homage in there to my favourite places I have visited also ice cream as who doesn’t love ice cream!
Song choice!
Music is always really important to me so I wanted to find a song that matches the upbeat images I would like to use. After crawling down the youtube rabbit hole I found this song by ‘Ra mu ne’ called ‘Snail House’ who I hadn’t heard of before
Max Fleischer
Max Fleischer was the animation pioneer of his time. His work included Superman, Popeye and Betty Boop.
Seeing this really makes me appreciate modern technology as my patience is not that great...
Buzzy Bee!
I really wanted to have some more flat design in my project but didn’t know where to start so I used a tutorial by ‘Gigantic’ of a bee.
I much prefer pastel colours so I tweaked mine accordingly
Artist inspiration
I found a flat design artist under the name ‘Gigantic’. I really love how minimalist yet dimensional his work is.
Rotation!
After watching so many videos with the rotation tool:
I did some googling, found a tutorial and attempted it myself.
‘Out of Inkwell’
Its always such a great reminder to see how far animation has come along ands its origins
Drawing a strawberry
This time I didn’t copy from a tutorial but used one as an inspiration
Animated persona brain storm!
Things I like

More Video Inspiration!
I found that I was getting the same results constantly when finding motion graphic videos so I changed my search language to get more results.
I’d especially like to try to use the disappearing shape technique.
Learning how to use Illustator
For this project I wanted to use flat design drawings however I can’t draw very well and have never properly used illustrator before so today is the first day of following a tutorial
I was really inspired by Fruelos video so to figure out how they went about making it I slowed down the video and took screenshots.
Video inspiration
I love the use of colour and shapes and would love to incorporate them into my own work
