Cora had become a professional on how to keep herself busy by now. If it wasn’t with the pups then she would find one of the kids or her husband. Busy was something she knew she needed. “I think it’s time to take the Christmas tree down, I just need some help,” she pointed out stretching up to start pulling off the ornaments. 

For the first time that Kaiden could remember, the holidays had been happy. He was sure there had been others, when he was too little to remember it, before his parents disappeared. And even if they had been back a long time, something about those years had still felt off. It was like the reality they were really back had finally settled in. “Where are the boxes?” He asked, pushing himself off the couch.

Victoria wasn’t sure if she was grateful for the holiday season to be over or if she was dreading the fact that now things would be going back to normal. She was wiping off the table in front of her. “Is it bad I’m already missing the holidays?” she asked no one specific as she sighed.

Kaiden shut the door to their apartment behind him, leaning down to unhook the leashes to give the dogs free reign as he headed further inside. “Yes.” He said, little hesitation in the grin that flashed across his face as he found his wife. “No.” Kaiden added a moment later with a laugh. “It’s always weird right after the holidays.”

“Husband,” Victoria called out as she closed the door behind her. She couldn’t get tired of calling Kaiden her husband, she was sure though he was tired of hearing it.

“Present,” Kaiden called with a laugh, the dog jumping off the bed and running toward the sound of the door. He wouldn’t ever get over the reminder they actually had gotten married, but that was probably a good thing.

Cora was happily on the couch under a wiggling pup when she heard her son’s voice, “I’m in the living room!” She responded picking up the pup in order to kiss their face.

“I heard from Hope that there’s a lot of very tiring puppies here.” Kaiden grinned as he followed his mother’s voice, dropping onto the floor in time for the dogs to climb all over him. “And also, I have a life update that I figred you’d want to know.”

“Ma, where you at?” Kaiden called, closing the door to his parents’ house behind him. He knew there was no reason to be scared to tell her about eloping, but he was still nervous about how his family would react because of how sudden it was.

“I suppose as much as I want to argue really the only opinions that matter are you and your siblings’.”

“Considering we all hold you up on a pedestal, I really think that’s for the best.” Kaiden grinned.

“I think you give me too much credit, Kaiden.”

“I really think you don’t give yourself enough, Mom.”

“Kaiden the last thing I need to know is just how distracting you are. I know that,” Victoria assured him as she dragged him outside.

“Okay, now I just want to test that.” Kaiden laughed, following her to the car.

“Will you be able to focus?” Victoria asked him curiously as she raised her eyebrows, “I might have to test it.”

“Do you want to drive?” Kaiden laughed, raising an eyebrow, “because I could be just as distracting, you know.”

“I am curious to know what you think.”

“You would totally do that, are you kidding me.”

“I want to go right now,” Victoria assured him in excitement as she reached for his hand in order to pull at his arm, “Let’s get married.”

Kaiden grinned and took her hand, letting her pull him up. “I’ll drive,” he offered, grabbing his keys.

“Would I do something like that?”

“Do you really want me to answer that?”

“I’m interested in what you have in mind on how to make it up to me, husband,” She raised her eyebrows as she pulled back from him, “I’ve been ready to be your wife for so long. I just never thought I’d get to be.”

“You’ll see them all eventually, wife,” Kaiden grinned, looking down at him. “We can do it. Right now, if you want to. I’m not going to change my mind.”

“I’m not against you proving you want to be spend your life with me. If anything I’m looking forward to it,” Victoria admitted as she moved to press a kiss to his lips before shaking her head, “If you want to elope tonight I’m not saying no to you, Kaiden. We could do it.”

“I have a lot of lost time to make up for, you know.” Kaiden reminded her with a small laugh as he returned the kiss, “Of course I want to. But only if you do. I don’t want to rush you if you aren’t ready.”

“What? My grandchild would need a puppy of their own to grow up with.”

“Are you sure you’re not just trying to bribe me into getting Victoria pregnant?”

“If she is pregnant in three months I’ll give you two.”

“Okay, now you’re just messing with me.”

victoriiastilinski‌:

“But is it me that you want to spend every day waking up beside me? Is it me you want to have kids with? If it’s what you want then I’m more than happy to run off and get married because it’s all I ever wanted with you.”

“It’s been you for a really long time, Victoria. Long enough that my mother and her mini-me have been on my case to do this for months now. I want that life with you, Victoria, and I’m gonna spend my life trying to prove that whether you believe it or not.”
