I cannot express how happy I am with this tattoo. @gennykat did such an incredible job not only creating a beautiful piece, but covering up a large, really bad tattoo. The cardinal is the official state bird of Ohio, where my grandparents both grew up. The male cardinal is a fierce red while the female cardinal is a more muted brown with flecks of red. When a male and female cardinal mate, they do so for life. The same morning my grandmother passed away, we saw a male and female cardinal dancing around my aunt and uncle's yard as we sat on their patio. It seemed a fitting reunion for them.
