She listened to what he has to say, shifting slightly on the bed to readjust herself. It's hard to get comfortable on this hospital bed and she wants nothing more than to be at home. Where, she can rest in the comfort of her own bed. However, she knows this is impossible as she has to wait at least one or two days before the doctors will allow her to leave. It's frustrating to say the least, but she understands why this is a thing. To make sure no complications arise, according to her doctor.

An exhausted frown spread across her lips. His response just made the situation more complicated, but at least he's being honest with her and not lying about his feelings. "You're right. We have plenty of time to decide on feelings later. I don't even know if I love you either." Anna admits. "I just want to be the best mom for him and to give him the best life. I'm glad you changed your mind, I never wanted him to grow up without a father. Without you."

Hazel eyes stare down at the sleeping child in her arms. A soft smile spreading across her lips. "He's so precious. I wonder if he'll end up with lots of freckles like me?" she wonders, glancing back at Kaito for a moment. "Do you want to hold him?"

Kaito could sense how restless Anna was; she was like that during her pregnancy as it was, which caused some of their fights during too.

“Exactly.” He also knew he had just made things more complicated by being honest; it was easier if he stayed an asshole and cut ties with Anna. It would give her one less thing to worry about; however, he knew they would both regret it eventually, especially for their child together.

“Thank you.” Kaito was relieved that his lack of romantic feelings for her was mutual, but they would still put their best foot forward, for their son. He looked so precious, and he really didn’t mind if he had any freckles like his mother, as he went to picture it as Anna held him.

“Yes, of course…” he replied, reaching over to hold their son gently. It was so surreal, holding his son for the first time. All the hardships from Anna’s pregnancy seemed to wash away; it was worth it for this very moment. So he made another mental vow, that he would be the best father for him.

“What did you decide to name him?” Kaito asked, having no intention of having it changed, doubting Anna would choose a name that he’d hate anyway.

Don't worry It's not bad being sick! At least Naruto didn't make others sick from anything but he tends to. Almost sounds like Lee when he might carry you to someone that an help you bridal style. It's sorta funny to see if it's possible.

“Right, that does sound like something Lee would do…”

There was in fact a time when Kaito might have pushed himself while out on a mission with Lee. He couldn’t move, so Lee actually carried him bridal style into the hospital; it was so embarrassing…

Expanding on Kaito’s genMinato verse, I think I want to make Hayate be the other teammate of Minato’s in their shared verse (with my Jiraiya too).

Hayate’s (lightning) movement jutsu is similar to Minato’s, but he has to pin down metal chakra rods (like Pein’s) in specific locations to teleport there via lightning. They could have bounced ideas off each other while creating their jutsu, and Hayate probs has his own inspired version of the Rasengan too, which I will figure out later haha.

“You really do spoil me, Hanoka, I’ve just recovered from being sick. But it almost feels like it’s my birthday all over again haha,” Kaito commented at the big brunch Hanoka made for him. She probably had a lot of time to prepare while he was recovering too, knowing her.

“I love you, and I really cannot thank you enough, for taking care of me,” he added, grateful to have a partner like Hanoka. She had been taking care of him ever since they were friends, and he looked forward to the day when he could call her his wife too.

“I’m sorry, dear… I wanted to work on our wedding planning some more too,” Kaito apologised, then coughed hoarsely into his hand. All he could do now was rest as best and as fast as he could, so they could resume; he didn’t want Hanoka doing more work than she needed to.

He somehow got sick, despite being very careful with his hygiene; some could say Kaito was even a clean freak. So he rarely got sick, and he used to just wait it out on his own. But it was nice to be taken care of, especially since he got close to Hanoka. She was dependable, unlike a certain friend (Naruto) who meant well but could be really sloppy with his methods at times.

"This is nice, thanks for inviting me out, Hanoka," Kaito admitted as he walked beside Hanoka, hand in hand. He took in the woods, trying not to subconsciously chakra-sense around them out of caution; he was supposed to relax, after all.

Kaito wasn't the biggest fan of camping, missions aside, so he wouldn't suggest it. But a nice walk in the woods was not a bad idea, especially if it was with Hanoka. The fresh air and scenery would do him some good too, as nice as it was to relax at home.

Just realised it is also Kushina Uzumaki’s birthday (July 10)

Which makes me want to expand on Kaito’s genMinato AU more, for Kaito (Minato’s best friend) and his (future) wife to have the same birthday! Also, it will help Kaito friendzone her to be a sibling like bond since they share the same birthday, lmao. I do see an initial love triangle, but (my) Minato was faster in making a move on Kushina haha.
