“Yeah. I wasn’t as surprised when it happened, but when Spiderman literally turned into dust, I’m pretty sure that my heart broke into a million pieces right there and then,” she said and laughed, shaking her head in the process, and covering her face a little. Lifting her gaze, she looked at Kai and bit her bottom lip gently. I don’t know… Stranded on an empty planet seems like it would be pretty horrific. “Yeah, at least he’s not dead, which is good because it means that they can bring him back for Avengers 4! Though, I do have a scary feeling that either Stark or Steve is going to die in the movie. There is definitely going to be a huge death, that’s going to shake the whole thing. That’s going to have a huge impact on all of the stories told from now on. And, they did say that Spiderman’s next movie, would be the start of the new era, and I don’t know, I just have a bad feeling…” 

“you and everyone else definitely.” he agreed wholeheartedly with her point. “honestly i feel like thats the thing with marvel now, no one knows whats going to happen next, when or if someone will die or just, i don’t know.. retire or something.” he shrugged his shoulders as he stretched out his leg a little from how he was sitting.

“adorable. the both of you,” he commented with a small grin on his face.

“I JUST, um,” leo began before he shook his head. dammit. he needed to let addie go. he needed to let her be with kai. they would be good for each other, leo knew that. maybe he was selfish, though. leo tried to keep his composure as he ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head once again. “i didn’t know you two like, knew each other. i guess. i dunno. she’s really – she’s,” leo shrugged slightly. “what was the question again?”

“yeah, i mean-- we hadn’t seen each other in a while but i ran into her again and i just.. i haven’t really been able to stop thinking about her.” kai admitted, scratching the back of his neck. “it wasn’t really a question just.. it’s been a long time and i feel like i don’t really know what to do about it anymore.”

LEO ALMOST CHOKED. “addie?” he forced out. he knew that addie liked him, but he had no idea if kai reciprocated those feelings or not. he couldn’t be selfish. not now. they would be good for each other. that leo didn’t doubt at all. “oh, that’s uh, that’s really – great. she’s a great girl.”

“YEAH,” he looked at leo with a concerned look for a moment, “didn’t think that would be so surprising.” it’s how he took the way leo reacted at least. “i know she’s great, i’m just so out of practice with this shit man.”

Adelaide looked over at Kai as he stretched out his arm along the back of the couch, and she felt herself keep looking at him. Taking a deep breath, she shrugged her shoulders slightly. “Yeah, they probably are going to do that. If they kill Robert Downey Jr. though, I’m going to hunt them down and murder them. No one is allowed to touch RDJ. I honestly thought he was going to die in Infinity War, but thank God he didn’t. Though, he is alone on a planet, with no way of getting home, but you know… At least he’s not dead.” 

HE GRINNED, letting himself just relax into this moment. “i was pretty prepared for all the wrong deaths in that movie honestly. i was pretty much expecting the ones who survived to be the ones who were gone. i don’t know.. stranded on an empty planet seems like it would be pretty horrific.”

“i know that, but if you ever don’t want company, you can kick me out. it won’t hurt my feelings, swear.” the brunette was looking pretty rough. she tried to hide it, really. “kai, i should give up, shouldn’t i? if every time ends in a break up, i should just give up on it working out?”

“I’M NOT gonna kick you out el.” he assured her, he loved her company, they got along amazingly well. she was one of the few he had first trusted with his story upon coming back from his tour. kai closed his laptop and stood up, moving to the couch she was on. “i think that depends on what you want. yknow how much you love him and i guess, why the breakups happened factor in too.— i don’t think you should give up on someone you love, not when they love you the same way.”

“I know.” She smiled. “Awesome. I’ve already gotten attached and picked out a name for him.”

KAI chuckled, “yeah? what’s the little guys name?” he asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

Adelaide turned her head and looked at Kai with a happy smile on her lips. Resting the side of her head against the top of the couch, she stared at him as he spoke. I went into that preparing for the worst and somehow still ended up being completely shocked by what happened. “Right?! Exactly what happened to me too. I mean, I knew something was going to happen, but I didn’t expect that, at all,” she said and laughed softly, nibbling on her bottom lip. “I’m very excited to see what Marvel will do next, though.” 

KAI had decided that the best thing for him to do was not to overthink things, he knew that would be when he’d have trouble. it explained why his arm stretched along the back of the couch, the way his fingers almost absentmindedly brushed against the ends of her hair. “i don’t think anyone was expecting the way that ended. marvel will probably try and pull another huge surprise on us.”

after being alone for a while, elodie didn’t want to be alone anymore. she didn’t want to spend her time on the couch, crying and feeling insecure. she made her way to kai’s place and made herself at home on his couch. kai was like a brother to her. they always leaned on each other and that’s what she needed right now. someone to lean on. she wasn’t going to tell him what had happened. she wasn’t going to ruin anything for him especially with everything he had been through. but the least she could do was warn him to be careful.. at least a little careful. and all he needed to know other than that was that she and leo were over and that she was sure it was final this time. knowing that leo had feelings for another girl while having feelings for elodie hurt more than anything else before and she wasn’t sure if they could recover from that.

“you know, you can kick me out any time. all i’m gonna do is sit here and steal your snacks.” she let her head roll over on the couch to look at him. “that’s what you get for opening your home to me.”

IT had been a while since he had told elodie that she was always welcome at his place. he’d only needed to say it once, sure she didn’t need a reminder and that was clear now. he could tell something was up as she lay on his couch and he was sitting on the single chair beside it, laptop open on his lap. kai hadn’t pushed for her to tell him what was going on, he knew elodie and she’d tell him when she was ready to talk.

“you say that like its an issue for me, el.” he commented, looking over his screen at her. “you know you can come here whenever you need to, besides, you really think i’d go and kick you out?”

You know, i don’t mind what we end up watching Addie. You have any preferences? She bit her bottom lip and thought about it for a second. “What about the first Iron Man? I haven’t seen it in forever, and I mean, it’s Robert Downey Jr,” she said and laughed softly as her eyes found his. Although, she had a feeling that she was going to be looking at him through the whole thing and not the TV screen. She didn’t tell him that, though. Reaching forward, he grabbed the TV remote and found the Netflix button, pushing it and waiting for the sign to appear on the screen in front of him. Adelaide leaned back, pulling her leg up so that she could lean against her kneecap. “Have you seen Infinity War yet? God, the feels that movie made me have was insane.” 

KAI chuckled, “sounds good to me, personally its my favourite iron man movie anyway.” he placed his glass down on the coffee table before he lent back against the back of the couch. of course he was still close to adelaide, a respectable distance. “oh shit yeah. i went into that preparing for the worst and somehow still ended up being completely shocked by what happened.”

“no, i’m completely serious. i can’t make a living on just the gigs we play, so i’m being an adult and looking for a part time job.. all of these suck though or are things i definitely cannot do.. so..” beck shrugged his shoulders, looking over at the other. “if only there was a job that would pay you to nap or drink. i’d be amazing at that.”

LEO’S FEATURES softened at the mention of kai’s late girlfriend, nodding slowly. “oh? that’s big, man. who is it? do i know her?”

KAI ran a hand through his hair before nodding, “yeah uh-- it’s addie.” he admitted, chancing a glance over at leo.

“Aww you’re too cute.” She chuckled and looked down at the kitten. “Yeah that was my next step. Wanna come with?”

“NAH, i just care.” kai replied, shaking his head. “sure, i got nowhere else i need to be. lets get this little one checked out.”

The gentle touch to the lower part of her back, made her smile as she pressed her lips to his cheek. Pulling away from him, she batted her eyelashes at him and her cheeks turned a soft pink when he said he didn’t want to be anywhere else. She walked into the kitchen area of the apartment she rented and pulled out two glasses from the cupboard while making sure the dinner she had made for them hadn’t been ruined in the meantime. Soda’s fine. You sure you don’t need a hand? “No, no. I’m good,” she called out and she could have sworn she felt butterflies fly around in her stomach. It was weird, definitely something she hadn’t felt often; maybe it was because she was on a date again, after so long, or maybe it was the fact that it was Kai? Maybe he was the one making her feel like this? As Adelaide walked into the room, she walked over to the couch, sitting down next to him and handing him the drink. “Here you go,” she said and smiled as she lifted the glass to her own lips. “I found a couple of different movies from the rental store down the street, but I also have Netflix, so we have a lot to choose from…” 

KAI was telling himself to just relax, to just enjoy himself and her company. he was trying at least. his nerves were pretty prevalent though. maybe if he had tried dating before now, but he knew he hadn’t felt an interest in anyone since chloe died. not until now, until adelaide. looking at her as she entered the room again, he couldn’t be surprised that she had caught his attention. she was gorgeous and he had noticed that immediately. he sent her a smile as he took the offered glass from her. “you know, i don’t mind what we end up watching addie. you have any preferences?” he asked, taking a drink from his own cup.

“GIRL ADVICE?” leo repeated with raised eyebrows. “well, i’m not an expert in that department but i can do my best. what’s up?”

KAI shrugged his shoulders, though he blew out a heavy breath. “i’m not really good at this. i haven’t actually liked anyone since chloe, not until now and i don’t really know what to do.”

“Oh i hope i didn’t worry you. I heard this cutie and had to see if he was okay and he is.” She smiled. “He’s homeless and I thought about taking him in. He looks a few weeks old.”

“A LITTLE but thats why i came to see what was going on.” kai let his eyes drift from natalia to the little kitten and he smiled. “i’d probably take him to the vet first and get him checked out.”
