“AH, economics was a tough one for me.” naomi breathed out sincerely, picking up the speed to get to er apartment that much faster. “a vet, huh? i think that would be good for you. i could definitely see you doing that, addie. maybe the humane society in town is looking for volunteers.”

“ –– It’s not an easy subject, that’s for sure. I’m not its biggest fan,” she said and laughed softly, though her arms were wrapped around her body slightly and she was hugging herself tightly. I could definitely see you doing that, Addie. Maybe the humane society in town is looking for volunteers. “that’s not a bad idea. Thanks, Naomi. I’ll definitely check that out,” she whispered quietly, before looking over at the blonde beauty sitting next o her. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, “for just... Springing on you like this.”

“IT’S NOT your fault, addie. i wanted this too, you know? you can’t put the blame on yourself.” leo wouldn’t let her. sure, she’d kissed him first but he’d gone back in for a second. this was on the both of them, no doubt, not just her. he wouldn’t let her think that much. he chuckled softly at her words, tilting his head up to reciprocate the brief kiss. he nodded gently at her words, humming softly in content. “yeah, definitely. are you busy today?”

I wanted this too, you know? Adelaide swallowed thickly and nodded, smiling at him softly. “Do you know how long I have been crushing on you for? Hmm?” she asked and laughed, her cheeks turning a soft pink. “Seeing you with other girls, it was... It was torture,” she whispered and blinked as her gaze dropped to the ground. yeah, definitely. are you busy today? “Nope,” she spoke, popping the ‘p’. “I’m free as a bird. What did you have in mind?” she asked softly, tilting her head a little to the side as she stared at him.

“no.. i-i know that. i just..” she shook her head, drawing her lip between her teeth as she pulled her knees to her chest and turned her head to face her sister. “i just wish he had told me, i never pushed to know.” she gave a tiny smile to adelaide, “it’s okay. i mean.. looking up my boyfriend isn’t the best thing you could have done but, i get it.”

Adelaide swallowed and nodded, feeling his heart break a little at the words coming from her older sister as she had pulled her knees up to her chest. It’s okay. That’s what sisters are supposed to do, aren’t they?" she said and tilted her head a little to the side while looking at the redhead. "Also, I’m sure he will tell you, Mal. Just… Give him some time. I mean, it’s not like he told me, either, you know? I snooped."

LEO FEATURES SOFTENED at addie’s words and he shook his head a little. “i don’t want you to worry about that, okay?” he whispered, his eyes scanning quickly all over her face at once to ensure that she wasn’t crying. he inhaled at her words and shrugged slightly. “it’s easy for me to do when it comes to you. that’s for sure.”

"How can I not worry about it, though, Leo? It’s my fault. If it hadn’t been for me, then... Then it wouldn’t be like this.” She swallowed and sighed, shaking her head ever so gently as she was doing everything in her power to keep herself from crying. It’s easy for me to do when it comes to you. That’s for sure. Adelaide swallowed against the lump in her throat and she looked at him, the expression on her face softened though, at the words that had come from Leo’s mouth. “You are going to be the death of me, Leonardo Alders.” she whispered softly, as she let her fingers trace his chin carefully. “And I do not mind that one bit.” She leaned in and kissed him on the lips, before pulling back and looking at him again. “We should probably get out of bed soon, shouldn’t we?”

NAOMI NODDED QUICKLY, managing a small smile at addie’s words. “an a+, really?” she asked with raised eyebrows, hoping to take her mind off of what was happening even just for a few minutes. “what subject? more importantly, how is school? do you like it?”

what subject? more importantly, how is school? do you like it? “It was an economic test,” she spoke, breathing heavily. Adelaide knew what Naomi was doing, and honestly, the young girl appreciated the effort of trying to get her mind off it all. “I like it, yeah. I want to be able to help animals one day. I want to be a veterinarian some day, and... I need to find somewhere I can work soon, too, as we’re about to have like, work experience thing.”

“Expert is a strong word.” he chuckled, “But, the one I have is happy and healthy, so, I can’t be all that bad.” He smiled, he was always proud of his work with Buttons. Parrots like her were all too well known to pluck their own feathers when they were unhappy. Something Buttons was yet to even dream of. “I’d love to visit puppies with you. You’ll have to restrain me from bringing one home though. I always did want a King Charles Spaniel.”

Adelaide smiled and nodded, while tilting her head a little to the side as she looked at her friend. I’d love to visit puppies with you. You’ll have to restrain me from bringing one home though. I always did want a king Charlies Spaniel. “Yeah? I always wanted a golden retriever pup, to be honest. They’re just so damn sweet, loyal and loving, you know? Right now though, I don’t really have the time to have a dog, but hopefully one day I will be able to bring one into my life,” she said and giggled softly.

“I –” leo began slowly. she was right. he did have a right to know. what kind of friend would leo be if he didn’t tell kai? that didn’t make it any easier, though. kai had it hard enough with everything he’d been through, the last thing leo wanted to do was make it worse which was exactly what he felt was going to happen. he looked up at her and upon seeing her eyes well up with tears, a frown overtook his features. “hey, hey. what’s wrong?” he breathed out as a hand moved to the side of her face gently, he let his head fall to the side as he looked at her intently, shaking his head slowly. he listened to each word that left her lips carefully, nodding slowly. he fell silent for a moment before surprisingly, a chuckle slipped through his lips. “you can’t leave it up to me, addie. i’m too damn selfish.”

hey, hey. what’s wrong? "Nothing, I ––," Adelaide spoke, but the tone of her voice gave her away easily. And the look on her face, probably too. "I just don’t want to be the one who fucks everything up between you and Kai," she spoke and swallowed against the lump in her throat, as she was trying to stop herself from crying. You can’t leave it up to me, addie. I’m too damn selfish. "Maybe that’s exactly what I need," she whispered quietly and kept her eyes locked with Leo’s. "Maybe I need you to be selfish. Maybe I want you to be selfish."

“you and everyone else definitely.” he agreed wholeheartedly with her point. “honestly i feel like thats the thing with marvel now, no one knows whats going to happen next, when or if someone will die or just, i don’t know.. retire or something.” he shrugged his shoulders as he stretched out his leg a little from how he was sitting.

"It’s really horrible, isn’t it?" Adelaide said and giggled, shaking her head in the process as she thought about what she was saying. "I mean, we all go into them, thinking that it will be fine and that we’re not going to get our heartbroken, then… they pull one out on us and we all act as if we didn’t expect it to happen when we all know we did," she said and shook her head, laughing softly as she rested the side of her head against the inside of her palm. "Honestly, as long as Tony Stark doesn’t die, then I’m happy. If he retires, then so be it, but that sure as hell beats him getting murdered," she said and shook her head a little.

LEO NODDED HIS HEAD GENTLY IN AGREEMENT. his eyes widened slightly at addie’s words and he sat up, ever so slightly. he couldn’t even do so if he wanted to since she was on top of him. “wait, what? you’re gonna tell him. addie, i – i,” leo stammered, at a loss. “why? he knows that i know how he feels about you.” leo was concerned. he was absolutely concerned as to what it would do to their friendship. what it would mean for the band. he was probably being selfish, but still. he calmed down slightly when he heard her requests, nodding slowly. “yeah, of course. you don’t have to ask.”

Adelaide looked at Leo, who sat up, which surprised her a little. Blinking, she looked at him. I - I... Why? He knows that I know how he feels about you. Adelaide swallowed and sank her teeth into her bottom lip. “I... I don’t know, I... Shouldn’t I? I mean, shouldn’t he know what’s going on?” She looked at him confused. She wanted to be honest with both of them. But at the same time, he understood where Leo was coming from. She understood that he would be worried that this could ruin it for them and that made her lips turn into a sad smile. She was going to ruin everything, wasn’t she? Yeah, of course. You don’t have to ask. Adelaide took a deep breath and looked at Leo, before nodding her head in agreement. Nibbling on her bottom lip, Adelaide looked around and blinked back the tears that were threatening to slip through. “Leo, I don’t want this to ruin anything for you and the band, I... I love you, I really do and, I would love to figure out if this could be something but if it’s going to ruin anything for you, I... I want you to let me go. If you think it will ruin your band or the chance of it, then tell me. Be honest and tell me. And if we need to stop this, before it goes any further, then I’ll understand.” It’s going to fucking hurt. “We won’t even have to tell him.”

LEO WATCHED as she leaned down to press her lips to his, reciprocating the brief kiss with ease. when he was with addie, things just came easily. he didn’t have to hold back when he was with her. he trusted her, trusted her enough to tell her everything. he hummed softly as he nudged his nose against hers slightly, his arms moved to wrap around her middle as he pulled her down on top of him. “i know, addie. me too,” he let out in a whisper. he rested his head against hers as he looked up at the ceiling, exhaling slowly before he closed his eyes. “me too.”

I know, Addie. Me too. Me too. She took a deep breath and swallowed against the lump in her throat as she stared at the wall next to them. She felt her body being pressed against Leo’s and honestly, it wasn’t a bad feeling. She felt safe. More safe than she had in a long time. “I need to talk to Kai,” she whispered and closed her eyes, “I need to tell him about what happened between us. And how I feel. I don’t know what I’m going to do, but... I want you both to have a chance to tell me to fuck off,” she said and then laughed softly, although that was a rational fear she had. That at one point, both of them were going to hate her. It was one of her biggest fears, truthfully. “Leo...” Lifting her head, she looked at him. “Could we do something together this weekend? Go to a fair or the movies or something?”

LEO MOVED HIS HANDS TO HER HIPS, looking up at her intently as ever as she spoke. leo knew what he had to do – that didn’t mean he’d actually be able to do it and carry it out. how could he? addie and kai would be good for each other. great, even. with everything kai had gone through with his previous girlfriend, leo knew deep down that he needed addie. he hadn’t liked anyone since he lost his previous girlfriend, this was a big deal to him. leo simply wasn’t sure how selfless he could end up being when it came to her. he took a deep breath, shaking his head a little. “he could never hate you,” leo assured her gently. he nodded in understanding as she said she didn’t know what to do since honestly, leo couldn’t see how any of this would end, either. “yeah, me neither.”

He could never hate you. Adelaide swallowed thickly and blinked furiously as she looked at him. She bit her bottom lip and sighed as her eyes traveled to where his hands were. God, it felt good; she thought and she rubbed her lips together as she let her eyes found his. yeah, me neither. She didn’t want to lose Leo, though. No matter what, that was always going to be her number one concern. Whether it be as a friend or even something more. Adelaide reached out and touched the side of his face gently before letting her thumb press carefully against his bottom lip. Keeping her eyes trained on him the whole time, Adelaide sighed as she leaned downwards and pressed her lips to his softly, while her hands traveled from his bare chest to his hair, her fingers tangling themselves in the dark locks. “I don’t want to give up on this either. I’ve... I’ve wanted this for so long, I...” Adelaide pulled back and bumped the tip of her nose softly against his while a tiny smile appeared on her lips.

NAOMI WAS QUICK to lead addie over to her car, ensuring that they were both in safely before she pulled off. naomi’s mind raked the possibilities of what could have happened, who could have done this to her. Naomi knew addie to be nothing but good. so, if she found out whoever hurt her like this, it wouldn’t be good news for them in the slightest. she kept her eyes fixated on the road for a moment until she glanced over at addie. the sight of her made naomi’s heart break. “tell me something good. tell me something good that’s happened to you this week.” the blonde insisted gently.

Tell me something good that’s happened to you this week. Adelaide swallowed and took a deep breath, turning her head around and looking at the blonde sitting next to her in the driver’s seat. “I... I got a paper that I turned in back. I got an A+,” Adelaide said and smiled weakly as she looked at Naomi, nodding her head while absentmindedly playing with her fingers.

LEO FELT HIS WHOLE LIFE could be summed up as the result of one, big, butterfly effect. how he’d ended up in treeville. how he’d fell into music. it was surreal but as he’d previously stated, he wouldn’t take any of it back. the smallest sigh of relief left his lips as she confirmed that he wasn’t talking out of his ass, that he was actually making sense. he nodded slowly, shrugging a little. “it’s like a pendulum. what goes around comes back around, right? ” he let out gently, pushing some of her hair behind her ear. he looked at her intently for a moment before shaking his head a little. “what are you gonna do, addie? kai… he likes you too, you know. a lot.”

And there it was. The question she had been kind of dreading. And kind of avoiding as well. What are you gonna do, Addie? Kai... He likes you too, you know. A lot. Adelaide swallowed against the lump in her throat and nodded. “I – I know, Leo. I know that, and... I like him too. I do. And I like you, a lot, and... Everything is so messed up,” she whispered and she could literally feel her heart break inside of her chest. “I don’t know what I’m going to do,” the young girl whispered and closed her eyes. “He’s going to hate me when he finds out about us. And I never wanted to hurt him. I didn’t. Like you said, butterfly effect. Things happened, and I don’t regret it happening,” she spoke as she opened her eyes, looking into Leo’s eyes. “I don’t regret it one bit. I just don’t know what I’m going to do.”

NAOMI FROZE as soon as she heard addie’s admission. the blonde shook her head slowly, immediately her eyes began scanning over the younger girl in search of any indication, clearly getting the idea that it had only just happened. “what? where? who? i swear to god, i’ll –” naomi began quickly, falling short as she spoke up again. she didn’t remember. the blonde’s heart sank to her stomach for the girl that stood before her before she ultimately shook her head. “addie, what happened?” naomi asked slowly. her head dropped back to see just how dark the sky was and she shook her head a little before looking at addie intently once more. “why don’t we go back to my apartment?”

What? where? Who? I swear to God, I’ll... Adelaide swallowed and looked up at Naomi, tears sliding down her cheeks as she explained what had happened. At least kind of what had happened that night. Addie, what happened? She blinked and her eyes dropped to the ground as she felt a drop of rain hit the top of her head. Why don’t we go back to my apartment? Swallowing against the lump in her throat, Adelaide nodded her head slowly and wrapped her arms around herself as she slowly began to make her way over to the parked car that Naomi had come running from before. What would Naomi think of her if she told her what had happened that night?

“I’M THINKING THAT, because,” leo began slowly, his eyes finding hers as he managed a smile. “–because of how much has changed for us alone, you know? if i had never seen you in the park, had i not went with you to the party. it was all butterfly effects that led to this.” leo whispered, shaking his head slowly. “i’m not saying i would take it back or anything. life is just unexpected in every aspect. i’m okay with it, too.” leo let a brief silence fall over them for a moment before a chuckle slipped from his lips. “i’m not making much sense, am i? i’m just trying to wrap my mind around how we got here, s’all.”

because of how much has changed for us alone, you know? If I had never seen you in the park, had I not went with you to the party... It was all butterfly effects that led to this. She took a deep breath and nodded, with a weak smile on her lips as what Leo said, was true. If those things had happened, then last night most likely wouldn’t have happened either. Her feelings for Leo, would still be a secret. It would still be something she would have to keep to herself. I’m not saying I would would it back or anything. Life is just unexpected in every aspect. I’m okay with it, too. She looked at him and then laughed when he said he didn’t make a hell of a lot of sense. “You make sense, Leo, honestly, don’t worry about it, okay? I get it. I really do. It is rather insane to think about, isn’t it? Also, the fact that everything can change again with the snap of two fingers, it’s... Definitely a little intimidating.”

NAOMI’S EYES SCANNED over addie carefully, mostly to ensure that she wasn’t physically hurt. emotionally was a whole other thing, but at least she could do something about the physical on sight. the blonde’s bright eyes flickered down to the other’s hands for a brief moment, only to see them shake which caused her to frown. when they found themselves on the safety of the sidewalk, the pulled back and nodded slowly at addie’s words. “yeah, some assholes around here really don’t know how to drive, huh?” naomi figured initiating in conversation would go to show whether she was really okay or not. “addie, you know if something is going on, you can tell me. right?”

Addie, you know if something is going on, you can tell me. Right? Adelaide turned her head around quickly and looked at Naomi with slightly parted lips. “I...” Maybe telling someone who wasn’t her sister or Leo was a good thing? Maybe she needed a friend she could rely on? “Someone hurt me,” she spoke, her voice gentle and quiet, and you could hear the rumbles of thunder above their heads. Swallowing against the lump in her throat, she looked at the older woman nervously. “And I... I didn’t remember. To begin with. I...”
