So Mike was exactly who he was supposed to be. Nothing hidden. Nothing to learn but heartbreak. He wrote the stories and that’s about it. He was “the heart” for one season, never to return.

Mike buys flowers for Will every Valentine’s Day. Along with every holiday, too, but the bouquet is the biggest on Valentine’s.
And Will paints Mike something every Valentine’s Day. If he’s behind schedule or can’t get inspired, he apologizes, but Mike couldn’t care less about deadlines. Will’s art is Will’s art and it takes time.
They get each other’s favorite Valentine’s themed candy, too.
They did this since they were little. It just never stopped and only grew sweeter.
Mike loves making breakfast for Will on Valentine’s Day though he can’t cook for shit so it ends up being a total disaster, but Will loves letting him try and helping him clean up after.
Will’s transitioned from calling Mike “the heart” to “my heart,” and he hams it up a ton for Valentine’s. Mike is smitten every single time.
Mike writes a love letter for Will every year, and soon, Will starts doing it, too. Mike likes to read it aloud to Will, but Will doesn’t like reading his aloud to Mike.
Mike couldn’t handle it, anyway. One year when Will tried to read his letter to Mike, Mike burst into tears after the first line.
Will took up pottery one time and made a vase with a little heart-shaped handle on the side for Mike. That is Mike’s baby, now.
Neither of them like to go out on Valentine’s Day. It’s too busy and crowded everywhere, plus they were heavily closeted from the world for a while, but they really enjoy staying in and being together.
For example, Will likes to buy the newest video game(s) they want to play together so they can play all night.
Or, Mike likes to buy/rent the new movies they want to watch together and snuggle on the couch to marathon all night.
One year, they were kissing on the couch after they ordered pizza and looked so messy that as Mike answered the door, the delivery guy immediately assumed they were going at it, so Mike feverishly explained in detail that they weren’t. Like an idiot. They never ordered out on the day again.
Mike loves rose-scented candles. Will hates them, but he loves Mike, so they sometimes light rose-scented candles.
Mike starts a long-running joke that since their birthdays are so close to Valentine’s Day, they might as well treat it like another birthday and he gets gifts for Will. Will knows that it’s an excuse to buy things for him. He loves it.
Mike becomes a shopaholic because of this, and then it starts becoming a problem on their bank account, but they figure it out soon enough.
Because as clemency, Will ends up causing the most damage on their credit when he books a surprise vacation for him and Mike to Paris.
Even when they weren’t together, they always knew that they were each other’s Valentine. They secretly exchanged candy and made excuses every time Lucas or Dustin caught them and called it weird. It wasn’t, to them.
