🧿 Welp, my work is basically on hold and I'm back to no income. 🧿
Ask your grandparents if they like their social security. If they say yes and rely on it, then tell them Joe Biden has advocated for cuts and freezes throughout his career.
Then tell them under the Obama administration they almost made major cuts to social security but got heat from the both the GOP and democrats and, at the time, Bernie Sanders was one of the most vocal critics of these proposed cuts.
Finally show them some of Bernie’s plans that benefit seniors including:
Expanding social security
Guaranteeing home and community based long term care services
Expanding on the Older Americans Act
Protecting pensions
Slashing costly drug prices
Expanding the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (which literally keeps low-income seniors from freezing or overheating in their own home. Trump wants to eliminate this completely BTW)
Expanding SNAP and Meals of Wheels programs
Expanding training and the workforce for personal care aides
Ending predatory lending scams targeting seniors
telling me biden is a good candidate bc he’ll continue obama era policies is not as comforting as u think it is and it will most definitely not sway me
reminder that most states haven't even voted yet and u need 1991 delegates to officially win the primaries. as of right now biden is at 401 and bernie is at 325 so can yall PLEASE knock it off w the defeatist posts acting like bidens already won??? this is how u get people not bothering to vote when their states primaries are happening. we won't know until literally JUNE who won. the last states voting are voting on JUNE SECOND. we're nowhere near knowing who's going to be the democrat candidate so don't just hand it to biden, damn
Corporations have paid to brainwash us our whole lives, they’ve bought their way into having more rights than actual human beings, and they have paid in both blood and gold.
Sad how we’ve convinced millions upon millions that it’s more honorable to die of an illness you can’t afford to treat than use taxes for anything but murder.
It’s really daunting how many people align themselves as or with the middle class, and even more alarming how much empathy people have for the wealthy while the wealthy clearly could give a fuck about the poor lmao.
What ppl qualify as “extreme leftism” is so fucking depressing like I’m tired of how right winged politics are, I’m tired of the rich, + to be fucking frank, I’m fucking tired of being told to accept right wing candidates as representative of even the spineless “center left” that the democratic party is attempting to position itself as.
I’m extra pissed at democrats today
i hate when rich people condescend with the whole 'money can't buy happiness' argument like listen. just because buying your fourth car didn't fill the void in your deluded disconnected-from-reality life doesn't mean not having to worry about food/ bills/medicine wouldn't greatly improve the mental health of literally everyone else on the planet
The fact that people have been taught to protect rich people from taxes when just 1% of that rich person’s income is more than most ppl’s entire family would make through their lifetimes (we’ll just say four generations to give a number)... Makes me sick.
🧿🧿🧿Also lmao since I’m rambling on here again, I’m struggling with my identity more than I have in quite a while. I feel like if I even begin to discuss it, I’ll get overwhelmed and frustrated by people attempting to engage with me on my feelings + the root of how they impact my particular struggles with how I feel about my orientation. 🧿🧿🧿
And now I'm thinking about landlords. 🤬
And banks 😷
And now I'm thinking about landlords. 🤬
🧿 I know even I magically won the lottery or became rich somehow (and it's got to be magic bc I'm not ever gonna do "what it takes" (ie exploitation and extortion) to get rich), I literally would not and COULD NOT stay rich. I'm taking care of my loved ones, I'm taking care of the people who floated in my life and gave me a moment of respite, I'm handing it out to service workers, I'm putting it towards water projects, I'm going down tags for gofundmes, I am NOT hoarding it, keeping it, biting at anyone who asks me to help bc I finally have something. I will pay for stability for me and mine and whoever I can and I would not hoard it away because there is NO ethical way to just keep money like that, to have that much outside of your means, like.
There really is no ethical way to BE a billionaire. It is NOT a neutral term or existence. It's crazy to see ppl defending them on the hope to be that, if I somehow magically had even one billion dollars, I simply would not, it would be given to everyone I could to spread stability and to water projects and the shelter products and it makes me sick that there are billionaires in existence at all, that they can have multiple, even hundreds of billions of dollars and continue to let people suffer. 🧿
🧿 Also I don't view this statement as selfless or deserving of praise--I view the way billionaires interact w and keep money as entirely immoral and cruel and I cannot fathom viewing them as justifiable to any stretch of the imagination. 🧿
