i think there’s a certain kind of loneliness that comes with always being the person everyone depends on.
you become so good at carrying people, comforting them, checking on them, making sure they’re okay, that nobody ever really stops to ask if you are. and after a while you stop asking too. you convince yourself that being needed is enough, that maybe love just means pouring endlessly into everyone else and never expecting anything back.
then i met you, and somehow you saw straight through me. not the composed version, not the capable version, not the person who always knows what to say just me. and you cared for me so gently that it almost scared me at first. the way you notice when i’m tired before i say anything, the way your presence makes me feel like i can finally put everything down for a second.
i don’t know how to explain how overwhelming it is to be loved softly when you’ve spent your whole life surviving hard. sometimes i go quiet around you because i genuinely don’t have words for what it feels like to finally be cared for too.
Totally forgot about tumblr.💀
Hey R,
I did not expect you to settle into my thoughts this quickly. We are still learning each other in fragments, a story here, a confession there, the small pauses between messages , and yet I already carry you with me through my days.
There is something terrifying about how naturally my mind reaches for you now, how every moment becomes softer when I imagine telling you about it later. I think yearning begins long before love does; it begins in anticipation, in the quiet hope of being seen and chosen by someone who still feels partly unknown.
What aches the most is that I cannot hold onto you yet. We are still becoming real to each other, still standing at the edge of something unnamed, and I find myself wanting more time, more closeness, more proof that this connection is not just living inside my chest alone. I want to know the parts of you that only appear slowly , the fears you hide behind humor, the memories that shaped you, the silence you fall into when you are tired. And maybe that is what yearning truly is: not missing someone you have lost, but missing parts of them you have not even reached yet.

What I didn’t know then
sometimes i look back at being 14 and it hits me how strange that whole friendship really was. she felt like an “older sister,” someone who cared about me so intensely it felt flattering, comforting… safe. and i didn’t question it, because at 14 you think attention is kindness and closeness is always real.
but getting older is weird. you start to see things from a distance you didn’t have back then. and suddenly the memories don’t sit the same. suddenly you understand how uneven the ground really was, how much power she had, how small i still was.
and it leaves this ache , not just for what happened, but for the younger me who didn’t know any better, who thought that kind of closeness was normal.
i carry it quietly now. i don’t need to name it. i just honor the girl i was, and the clarity i have now. and maybe that’s its own kind of healing.

When the past knocks
There are days when the past comes back uninvited, quiet at first, like a faint tapping somewhere behind my back and suddenly it opens the door wide and walks straight in.
Today is one of those days.
I don’t know what triggered it. Maybe the afternoon light that fell on my desk? Or a song that shuffled onto my playlist without a warning. Maybe it was actually nothing at all?
But suddenly, they were there: the people I’ve loved, the people I’ve hurt, the ones that shaped me in ways I recognize now. Their faces come back not as sharp portraits, but as soft flashes. Laughter, conversations turn into argument, silence that said more than words could.
I’d be lying if I said I walk through my past with grace. I don’t. Sometimes memories sting, others warm me from within, like a good cup of coffee on a winter storm, and some leave heaviness I still haven’t learnt to set down.
there are the ones I loved so deeply it scared me. Love like that doesn’t leave quietly. It lingers in unexpected places, old messages, half-forgotten routines, the way my chest tightens seeing a familiar person in a crowd that isn’t actually them.
The older I get, the more I realize that remembering is its own form of reckoning. Not to punish myself, but to acknowledge the truth: I was young, I was flawed, and I was learning how to be human in real time. We all were.
If any of them could hear me now, the friends I drifted from, the lovers I lost, the strangers who crossed my path at exactly the wrong or right moment, I’d hope they found peace. I’d hope life has been kinder to them than I sometimes was. And I’d hope they know that their presence in my story mattered, even if the chapter was short.
I hope tomorrow’s different.
