My Anthro 404: Self in Culture course has recently inspired me. We have focused a lot on the self and how this can be portrayed in dreams. One type of dream in particular, called self-scape dreams, provides one with a kind of self-evaluation of where they are in life. In the sense of integrating disassociated parts of the self. They tend to be highly emotional and reflect current events happening on one's life. My best friend Abbie has been living in Nevada doing Americacorp. The year before she was in Maryland and didn't enjoy her experience very much, but now she loves Nevada! While there are still some things she does not enjoy, I would love to capture this moment in her life: the positive and the negative aspects. The idea that self-scape dreams capture one's current life situation in an emotional way is what I am going for. I plan on going with Abbie on a lot of hikes, to her apartment, her boss’s house where she is dog sitting, and places with her new friends. I will be using these locations because they are ones she is spending her time in currently, which is the whole idea. My plan is to continuously photograph her, and the emotions, that go on with her current life happenings. So, far it has been really fun capturing how happy she is and how much she loves Lake Tahoe.
