"Oo! ~ So close! ~"
The arrow had just barely missed the mark, resting a few inches below the etched-in target. The boy in the hat frowned a little, calculating what went wrong, before turning to his student-for-a-day with an enthusiatic cheer. "Try drawing the arrow back a little more. You almost had it!"
But the student just felt defeated and tired, especially considering she had been at this for quite some time now. With a frustrated sigh, Wiki dropped her shoulders. Her ears folded down as a flash of mixed anger and disappointment flooded her mind, and she groaned.
"This is hopeless! I'm sorry, Aedus. You tried so hard to teach me, but I'm just not strong enough."
"Hey, c'mon, Wiki-pie, you're so close! Here, maybe what you need is a more ... physical demonstration." The words melted on his breath as he slyly approached the other, being careful to not get too close, but close enough that he could walk around her and guide her body using his own to get the right stance for the perfect shot.
He was built much larger than she was: her arms felt like swaying branches as he moved them into their proper place, and her legs weren't much thicker â but the determination on her face told him not to count her out just yet. She just needed the right push â or, really, the right pull.
"Okay. Let 'er go!"
With a stern nod, the freckled girl let the arrow fly, immediately relieved as the tension left her sore body. Both watched as the arrow hit the mark perfectly, simulateneously letting out cheers of their own. Wiki jumped in the air, punching the sky, unable to contain her excitement:
"I did it! Aedus, I did it!" The pinkette looked up eagerly at her teacher, her wide eyes shining with pride in the sunlight of the woods. He glanced down at her with a lop-sided grin.
"Sure did. That was a smooth release." At that moment, inspiration struck. The golden-eyed boy's grin turned sinful, placing a hand on his hip as his tail swayed lazily behind him. "You know what, I think mine is a little stiff. Could you give me a hand with it? ~"
"Huh? But â Aedus, I just started today! You're the master here, not me. Try shooting â it's gotta just be in your head!"
"..."
Once again, his attempts at flirting with her had failed. He wasn't surprised.
Taking the bow and arrow from his eager company, the male skillfully wielded them and readied himself in no time. It came natural to him â it would for Wiki too if she had been trained under archery for as long as he had. He effortlessly nailed the target, barely needing more than a few seconds.
"See? You didn't need my help at all! That was a perfect shot!"
He chuckled, watching the other with a slightly raised brow. The girl before him was practically radiating admiration and respect for his work â it was written all over her face and body language. He caught himself thinking it wasnât half-bad to be praised like this. He certainly wouldnât mind hearing it again once in a while. "Heh, guess you're right. But you still have a lot to learn yourself, kid."
In more ways than you think, he wanted to add, but this was Wiki he was talking to. Although, in all honesty, he really didn't want her to lose that innocence. Sure, it was fun to tease her, and he swears he will get her to crack one day â but there was something magical, almost precious, about the way she saw the world. Aedus would do anything to keep it that way.
"Well, then it's a good thing I have such a great teacher to help me! Really, thank you so much! I'll have to repay you for this someday!"
He smiled back at her, patting her head with a gentle force. At the touch, the smaller one instinctively closed her eyes, but as he stopped and began to pull away, she peeked at him with a confused look. Aedus turned to gather the arrows out of the tree, buying himself some time to think of a proper response. He smirked her way, gold eyes resting softly on gray ones:
"Just don't ever change, Wiki. That's how you can repay me."
