Hi, welcome to kalosianflames! This is a story-driven askblog, really more of an interactive fanfic in the form of a blog! It follows Alain, a pokemon trainer and researcher in the field of mega evolution, after he finds himself in a Kalos in crisis. What happened here? How did he even get here?
This blog follows the story of a Kalos that fell during Lysandre's attack in XYZ. It's set in a version of the anipoke canon, but will feature elements and characters from the gameverse canon. There will be some canon-divergent elements to both timelines!

Asks that encourage hateful behavior will not be tolerated. Hate speech, usage of slurs, threats to real people (threatening characters in the story is okay), doxxing, etc etc etc are strictly prohibited. Your ask will be deleted from the inbox, and you may be blocked.
Please stick to the ask format for story asks. This is for story consistency! Out of character and non-story related asks may be sent however you like as long as they abide by the other rules. :) All askers will appear as little will-o-wisps/small floating balls of fire in-universe, and only some characters will be able to see them. Don't worry, everyone will be able to hear your asks regardless of if they can see you! I'll make a post going more in-depth on those sorts of boundaries soon, and link it back here!! Keep your eyes open!!
Do not try to force ships/dynamics between characters. You're obviously welcome to push for two characters to interact (though they might need some convincing), but leading asks ("ooooo you wanna kiss them sooo bad" "why don't we give you some alone time" etc etc etc) are very likely to be ignored. If a character is implied or confirmed to have feelings for/be in a relationship, it's more likely to slide. One canon example would be Serena's pining after Ash. There will be noncanon ships on this blog too!! This rule goes doubly for ships on the NoTP list.
Don't be horny on this blog please. While there will be some implications of sexuality/sexual encounters, there will never be an instance of onscreen sex on this blog. Please refrain from sending explicitly sexual asks, as they will be ignored. Something like "godDAMN he's fine" would be okay, but "I want him to [REDACTED] in my [REDACTED] til I [REDACTED]" would be deleted. I'll give warnings (a dm if asked from a blog, or an OOC post along the lines of "hey I'm getting some aggressively horny asks can we please tone it down thanks" if asked anonymously). Repeat offenders may be blocked.
There is a living, breathing human on the other side of this blog. Please treat me as such. As much as I would love to be paid money to write Pokemon fanfic about my number one blorbo of all time, that isn't the world that we live in. I have a job, social life, and other responsibilities on the other side of the screen, and if something comes up, I may have to put this blog on the backburner for a bit. This is not an exhaustive list, just the ones that I see floating around enough that I'd like to make expectations clear. Do keep in mind that a ship not appearing on the list does not mean it will happen. This isn't a romance-forward fic, and while there will be some romantic sideplots, it isn't exactly the main focus. This post goes over the blog's style, types of asks, and addresses how you can still interact with your OC while keeping to the lore of the story!

Blog Style
This is a text-based blog! This means that where other blogs use drawings and comics to interact, this blog will just use lines of dialogue. Actions taken by characters will be written in [brackets] in the tags. To pull an example from before the purge:
That timestamp will jumpscare me til I take my dying breath but you see what I mean!! Actions will always come before character tags, and speaking of!! Characters will be tagged in the order that they appear, and will all have individual unique text colors to help differentiate. Story arcs will also be tagged, the example here would be lumiose destroyed.
Types of Asks
This blog is going to rely on viewers like you to keep it rolling!! In-character, your asks are coming from little wisplike flame things that only certain characters can see. Don't worry, everyone can hear you! Unless you specify whispering to a certain character, it will be assumed that everyone in the vicinity can hear you. If your ask is engaging with the characters, setting, or other story elements directly, it will be assumed that you're asking in character! If your ask is addressing things clearly not part of the story or setting, myself, or you specify it as ooc, it will be answered by me ooc and not treated as a part of the story. As of right now, there is no set time where I'll answer ooc asks, but it's probably just gonna be "whenever I feel like it and am not engaged in story mode."
Individuality In In-Character Asks
I'm not a total fun-hater, I promise!! If you'd still like to participate as an OC or be answered as the same individual, you can "sign" your ask with an emoji! To pull once more from the pre-purge days, a signed ask would look something like this:
Our anonymous asker chose a flower emoji as their sign, so I designated them the tag of blossom! Any other asks with that sign would be treated as coming from the same wisp and having the same voice. Tags are chosen by me when I get the ask, and will correlate with the emoji picked out! I might give someone with a blue heart sign the tag blue, for example. If you ask off anon, your tag will be your blog's url!! Since the reboot of the blog uses wisps, the actual tag would be "#wisp: blossom" instead of spirit!!
Okay, but what if you want to use your OC? There are plenty of ways you could do it! Maybe your OC is dreaming in another dimension, and this is the form they take! Maybe they fell through a portal and wound up like this! Maybe they don't know what happened to them either, but they went from being a human/pokemon/whatever they may have been to being this weird wisp form now! Whatever the case, characters interacting with the story are in wisp form during plot. I might open up noncanon interactions at some point, but those will be infrequent if they happen at all!

So it's been about, uhh... four years? I wish I could tell you exactly why I stopped doing anything with this blog, but I'm honestly not too sure myself. A lot of things have happened in my life since then, and that period was kinda nuts.
Regardless, I'm back now! I'm four years older, and four years wiser (in theory, anyway). I'm funnier, smarter, sexier... but some things never change, do they? I'm still a huge nerd, and Alain is still my all-time favorite pokemon blorbo. All that to say...

I'll elaborate under the cut, but the cliffnotes version of it is that I plan on doing a total overhaul of the blog--including the name, once I decide on something that fits better and sounds good-- and going a different route with the story than I had initially intended. We'll be starting over from scratch entirely, too!
To the people who followed this blog forever ago, I hope you stick around! If this sort of thing isn't your speed anymore, though, I totally get it. But thanks for jumping in when I started this forever ago, it seriously did mean the world to me.

So what exactly do you mean by "total overhaul" anyway?
Basically, I'll be totally redoing the blog! I'm going to be deleting all the old posts, so there isn't any confusion once I get this thing kicked off again. New pinned post, I plan on making a rules post--especially because the format of this is a little different than some other ask blogs I've seen out there--and more!
When will you be starting the story?
I'm not totally sure!! There are some details I still want to get straightened out lore-wise on the backend before I start in earnest, not to mention the overhaul, but I hope to really get the ball rolling soon! I've got a lot in store >:3
What if I have other questions?
