Thursday, August 6th: Hello, everyone. I’m Gem, a bi, mentally ill, and multiple disabled woman in desperate need of help, as I need help to pay my bills this month!!

I'm sorry that I have to e-beg again. However, as most of you know from my previous posts, I have been struggling to make ends meet while on welfare. And due to my outstanding bills and ever-increasing debt, it has been difficult for me to make ends meet. With the rising cost of living, I have been relying on my credit cards to pay bills and simply get by on a day-to-day basis.

This has placed a significant financial strain on me, and repaying them is more than I can afford. I have also been supporting my sister through her benefit sanctions, which ended earlier this month, leaving me deeply over my limit.

And after covering rent, utilities, and direct debits, I have nothing left for my credit card bill and I won't receive my welfare until the 31st. 

Again, I know this is a lot to ask, but if anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would mean a lot, and sharing helps just as much.

Actually for some people it does and part of my point was that those people deserve to have their efforts acknowledged and respected when they put in the work needed to treat others right even though it doesn't come easily or naturally to them

As someone with ADHD and undiagnosed tism (though no one I know would be surprised if I tested on the spectrum), who also has a sarcastic streak and deflects and copes with humor, sometimes not being a dick takes effort. I have to laugh at things so they won't be a threat, I have to laugh and joke and push buttons and poke holes in everything to maintain my sanity. One of my former coworkers once asked me "would it kill you to not make a joke for 10 minutes?"

Realistically? No, probably not. But, would being deprived of a core coping mechanism, no matter how unhealthy, put undue stress on my mind and push me closer towards offing myself? Potentially. So in a way, yeah, it might actually kill me to stop it with the jokes.

Learning a better way to cope is a challenge. Learning to stay sane and kind in a world of performative cruelty takes effort. Not being a dick takes effort, because it's soooo easy to throw stones, to jump on the bandwagon and punch down, to make the tasteless comments at people because of who they are or what they look like. No, whoever said "being kind requires zero effort" is wrong. Being cruel requires zero effort

i live with my wife and three other trans women. we've never struggled that badly to make rent, just had to ask for help with food occasionally. four of us are employed but making minimum wage or just above, but we're all disabled.

that all changed fairly recently. one of my roommates, her disability flared up badly. she's trying to figure out what happened but in the meantime she's on a leave of absence from work.

what's worse, my other roommates had back to back vacations (planned well in advance of this), and i had a furlough week due to the fourth of july.

now we're struggling to make rent this month, and likely next month as well until my roommate can figure out what's wrong, and if there's any sort of accommodations she can get.
