This is serious. I had to call the police tonight because I was so worried about my friend. He is 18, gay, living with abusive homophobes, his uncle threatens him, he has to deal with multiple forms of abuse, he has dealt with years of physical abuse, and many days there isn’t even food to eat in the home.

“ Hi, my name is Clear. I am 18 years old gay male, in high school, and from San Antonio, Texas. My living situation keeps me in danger and I need to get out of here. To sum it up quickly: I live with my sister and homophobic grandparents. I fear for my life in this home, police have done nothing, I don’t get food, I am scared to speak, and I cannot be myself. Details below.
My Uncle has been kicked out multiple times and comes back, refusing to leave and threatening me and my family. He has been to jail and been arrested. Recently, he brought a gun over to the house and I was scared for my life. The fighting, threats, banging and violence in this house never seem to end.
Calling the police has done NOTHING when it comes to my uncle. Friends of mine have called the police out of fear for me, but they do not do anything. They don’t get him to leave or help with the abuse in any other ways, instead getting upset with me for calling them when I am scared for my life.
In this home, I can’t do anything without being yelled at and reprimanded for it. I am scared to even open my mouth, knowing that anything I do will just end in me being verbally abused and told how horrible I am.
My father is mentally, verbally, and physically abusive, but has moved out of this house. He still visits on occasion and each time I am terrified for what will happen to me. I remember the beatings he would give me and my sister, and can’t look at him without remembering the fear of having his hand around my neck. My grandparents do not keep him away or seem to care.
This house hardly has food half the time and there are times where we go without, not getting the necessities we need even if we try.
All of my family aside from my step-mother and sister are homophobic. I am not even out to them and get called a “f*g” and have to hear them bash the LGBTQ+ community. I hear about how gay people are horrible and going to hell every day.
I need to get out of here. I plan to go live with my friend up in Canada and go to college there and eventually become a citizen, but it is highly expensive. Her family is trying to help, but it is still costly. I need to purchase a passport to apply to live there and many other things that just add to the price. I can’t even start saving up for that while needing to use the money that I do get on trying to make sure my sister and I have food.
The money donated would be used to help me afford the documents to get me out of here, the move itself, and assure my safety for the future.
