Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 46 Review (Spoilers!)
Sorry for our inconsistency everyone!!!
Honestly probably the best episode of the series yet. The emotional turmoil Shouma is in this episode is palpable. I love how singleminded they are making his focus on this vision is. Theoughout the episode Shouma reminisces on the amazing time he had in the human world, but every time he reminds himself that he is in the granute world for a reason and has to leave everyone behind for this goal. It’s heart wrenching seeing the happy, carefree Shouma become crushed by responsibility in real time.
Onto the fight scene, absolutely insane, aura off the charts. I can tell they put a lot of effort into the effects of this episode too. As for Jaldac, it’s yet another example of making an enemy feel larger than life in their strength. Even with the main three in their final forms, Jaldac’s magnitude of power seems limitless.
Over the course of these last few episodes 1gou and I have been speculating on who the final boss will be, Jaldac, Lango or Jeebh.
-2gou
I think 2gou is right in saying this is probably one of those best episodes of the season. After the last episode, I was really wondering how this was going to resolve and it actually didn't turn out like I expected.
I like that Nyelv's plan actually doesn't work. I think that these last couple episodes have characterized him in a way that is a lot more interesting than just "the smart villain", to say nothing of the sob story I'm assuming he'll get in the next episode. I'm kind of neither here nor there about like 'sad backstory' kind of things when it comes to villains (and definitely in the last like 3 episodes at that) so we'll have to see how they do it.
For the fights, they were obviously very very good once again. I liked the fight inside the castle as our big CGI fight of the episode but I was also very happy to see more practical explosions and stuff in the later part. I think this episode did a good job at actually showing that Jaldac is a formidable villain without just tossing a bunch of accolades at him and calling it a day.

I love how now when it comes to Shouma in the Stomach Inc. handbook there’s no info on how to take him out or anything it’s just: GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE, HE WILL FUCKING KILL YOU!
Kamen Rider Gavv Episodes 41 & 42 Review (Spoilers!)
Sorry for for the brief hiatus everyone! Fourth of July was definitely busy for me but we are back at it with another review!
As Glotta has been vanquished by resident aura farmer Lakia Amalga, Nylev is our next baddie to deal with!
Obviously, the elephant in the room is that Suga is kind of back! The reveal that Nylev has been keeping his body alive this entire time and he only died after the brutal surgery to conjoin him to a Granute corpse is honestly very, very disturbing. Even more, the hypnosis powers that this zombie Suga displays are equally messed up as we see them effect Hanto and innocent civilians. On this note, the idea of autonomy, and the violation of autonomy is a HUGE theme in Kamen Rider Gavv, and honestly this arc has shown me how thick they are laying it on. Therefore, I will be writing an individual post about how this theme is the undercurrent of Gavv, so please look forward to it!
Action wise, the triple henshin was very good, it’s so awesome to see these three final forms all together! It’s a little disappointing to see Nylev get away, but he overall felt very strong and his granute form is appropriately intimidating.
And finally, the grand reveal! I was wondering where they were going with the emphasis on the snack shop Shouma frequents, and honestly this is a good use of it. I’m very excited to see the debth of Shouma’s emotions on the matter!
Anyways, thank you for sticking with us everyone!
-2gou
Since we didn't get time to talk about it, I feel like I should just mention that Vram A La Mode is a really awesome final form. They just keep knocking it out of the park with not only the design of the forms, but also the execution of them as a suit!
2gou's point about zombie Suga mirror's my thoughts but it really did genuinely disturb me. This arc has made Nyelv into a very classical Kamen Rider mad scientist and I'm glad to see that they're not going to shy away from the sorts of things he would need to do to earn that status.
I still think there's more to Suga's story which hasn't been revealed to us but I think it's unlikely we get to actually see it with the limited amount of episodes we have left (Maybe in something like the Lacheisis special for Gotchard?). Nevertheless, I think this is a pretty fitting send-off to his character assuming this really is the end of him. Suffering begets suffering and Suga ends up a victim of the cycle he created.

Hello everyone! We will be reviewing the least two week’s episodes (hopefully) before this Sunday! We will also be talking about Zeztz, our thoughts, our theories, and more! Finally, I plan on writing breakdown on a certain theme in Kamen Rider Gavv that I thought deserved a full post. Exciting things are coming, stay tuned!

hey guys sorry for the inactivity!! my family has been dragging me around from one summer activity to the next. they say its "relaxing" but i think we have different definitions of the word... anyways i havent really had the time to properly sit down at my computer and write a review in a while, we will try our best to get caught back up, thank you for your understanding!!

Kamen Rider Gavv Episodes 37 & 38 Review (Spoilers!)
Finally! Hanto confronts his childhood enemy, the wolf Granute!
1gou and I have been going back and forth on the overall importance of the granute as a whole. Though the wolf Granute kidnapped Hanto’s mom, its Lango that actually killed her. In 1gou’s eyes, who the wolf Granute is isn’t particularly important anymore if he wasn’t the one to actually kill her. Saying this, I’m really glad with what they did with the character, especially that they made him more unique than just a monster of the week! This arc really shows that Granutes are, at the end of the day, people. While the dilemma they had Hanto struggle with in these episodes mostly focused on “is it the right thing to take revenge?” I feel like a unique spin they could have taken was, “Does Hanto truly see Granute as people? And if so, would killing the wolf Granute be murder?”
Obviously, I am super excited to see Jeep continuing to be an intimidating villain, while still falling short in a way that doesn’t necessarily make him look weak. As I said in the last review, he got his modification! 1gou and I agreed that this modification would have been more impactful if some unimportant granute didn’t already become Bitter Gavv earlier in the series. Nonetheless, Jeep as Bitter Gavv is super badass, with a ruthless fighting style that makes him stand out as a real threat this time.
Speaking of Jeep, seeing his relationship with his siblings come crashing down is such an interesting perspective. By seeing it through Jeep’s eyes, having nightmares and being abused by Glotta, we see that Shouma really did ruin his life. It makes his emotions feel so raw, it’s cool to see a villain be pushed to their absolute limits emotionally by their successive losses to the main character.
Anyways, the resolution of this arc was great, and with that we are caught up! Thank you for your patience everyone!

I am not kidding when I tell you that I need the second part of the Gavv soundtrack to come out right this instant. I want to listen to the Over/Master theme so badly, nobody has even uploaded a really crappy sounding rip from the show that I can listen to in the meantime, it's all just the worst fake AI songs you could ever imagine if you try to look it up I feel like I'm actually going crazy.
OK anyway.
Something I've really come to appreciate about this show is that it doesn't waste time like at all. There aren't filler episodes, there's not really any chaff to speak of, it's just all either very deliberate writing and character building or some of the most peak Kamen Rider action in the whole franchise. I know I'm gushing but I love this show lol. Every episode I find myself thinking "wow this shot is incredible" or I catch something I know they've been leaving little clues for.
One thing I picked up on mid-episode this time was that Glotta is now all but confirmed to have been the one to kill Lakia's brother. I thought about it right after the scene where she's talking about hunting down the part-timers who haven't kept up with the demand and I'm sure this scene was there to facilitate that connection being made. Huge huge huge props to the writers on this show.
For something I wasn't huge on, it was the handling of Jeebh's modification but not because there was actually anything wrong in the episode. As 2gou mentioned in her part, I think this would have been way more effective if Maagen hadn't kind of stolen Jeebh's thunder. None of this is to say that I think Bitter Gavv is "wasted potential" like I've been seeing some people say online (I think the show definitely has a plan for Bitter Gavv, it just isn't what people thought they were going to get), I just think Maagen maybe should have been replaced with like a lone straggler Bitter Gavv so the impact of Jeebh getting the surgery would have hit a little harder.
The fights were awesome once again and I just love how they showcase Master mode's speed; it's punchy and distinctly stands out from other super speed powerups like in Kabuto or Faiz. And just to touch on it a bit, I really liked the conclusion to Hanto's revenge arc even if I thought it was a little contrived but I think having Glotta just kill the guy anyway kind of puts a damper on it. I still really enjoyed it and it doesn't sour it for me at all but I think it was a little silly to end it like that.

Gozyuger Episodes 15 & 16 (Spoilers!)
This show continues to be a completely hectic ride start to finish lol. I really like how much characterization for the Bridan we've been getting and it definitely gives me the impression that at least Fire Candle and/or Bouquet will switch sides at some point. I don't think they'll necessarily become Gozyugers but they're definitely setting the groundwork for something here. (There's also the note that the Tega June toy actually has unique light responses to the other Gozyuger rings. This might just be Bandai including more play features but it definitely feels like evidence for at least Garyudo joining the team eventually.)
The Tega June AI reveal honestly wasn't that surprising to me and I have to see where they're going with it to really know what to think about it but I think it's an interesting concept. Mankind creating a machine in 'God's' image isn't really a new idea but it could be fun and I wanna see where they go with it. This is just more evidence to support my (proven) theory that everything, in the end, is just Eva again. And speaking of Evangelion, episode 15 was pretty messed up toward the end!
The presentation of the battle was really cool and Toei's really been showing off how much better their CGI work is getting. I think the tension of the scene overall was great and paid off in a really cool "the heroes lose" ending which is not something you see all the time.
And with that, we finally have our 6th Gozyuger! I think GozyuPolar is cool and I really dig his design but I'm honestly kind of iffy on his actual character so far. I know he's gotta be super duper extra cool so the kids will buy his toy but I usually don't really like characters with his kind of attitude unless they back it up with something more interesting. I like his theme and the opening change was funny, it gives me really heavy early/mid-Heisei opening vibes and I liked it.

Guys…. We are only on episode 15…. AND THE WORLD IS ALREADY OVER?
Seriously though, 1gou is right, the breakneck pace is loosing me yet again… Ahhg! And right when I had a handle on things too! 1gou covered a lot of the main points, so I’m going to focus on bits that popped out to me.
I’m sure everyone has heard at least once that the villains in media often reflect the anxieties of the time. Myths had villains that were natural disasters, post war villains represented the “other” or apocalypses, and now we have the very blatantly represented fears of AI in TegaJune and Kuon. I mean, it can’t get more blatant that a CEO of an AI company piloting a huge AI mech who mocks God (Tegasword) Himself with her own makings.
Let’s address the elephant in the room, the whole “Let’s get married Hoeru!” Thing Kuon says. Obviously it lends to the Batshit Crazy angle they are doing with his character, but also it kind of shows that his perceptions of relationships aren’t really there anymore. He has been utterly, utterly brainwashed.
I agree with 1gou’s opinion of GozyuPolar, his personality is sort of a hard sell for me right now. It’s one thing to have a character who is cocky and thinks they are super cool, and another thing for the narrative to validate that character’s annoying personality by insisting that they are actually that cool. Also, the fact that he was GozyRed kind of feels like a complete out of the blue way to make him feel more connected to the story that I kind of feel like fell flat. The fact that Tegasword had remade the world at one point does imply that there was a GozuWolf before Hoeru, but it wasn’t something I was really wondering about let alone thought about. If they had mentioned that there was a GozuWolf before Hoeru that had won the Universe war, it would have made me perk my ears a little and go “oh this might come back. Maybe I should think / watch out for this.”
I honestly feel like Kumade would work better as a character that was entirely brand new. Like he is the brand new Prince of this world, he is “incomplete” so he has a will of his own and he was literally born yesterday. In this version of him, Kumade would be cocky because of the sway he has around this new world as everything seems to bend around him to his will, but his cockiness is naive because he has yet to face a real challenge, which is what he would find in Hoeru. You can even keep his ambition on becoming a new god, wanting to “complete” himself in a way that TegaJune doesn’t intend. I feel like this direction for the character would be stronger than “I want to become a god because I deserve it for doing this grand feat (all of my hard work was off screen, it was really epic trust me.)”
Either way, Polar has been around for like, one episode, so let’s hope my cold heart will melt..!

Kamen Rider Gavv Episodes 35 & 36 Review (Spoilers!)
Master taste!
We finally have Gavv's final form in its entirety and it's awesome! I'm getting ahead of myself lol. I think these two episodes are some of the best in the show, from Lakia opening up to Shouma and Hanto to the incredible fights with Lango, this arc had me on the edge of my seat.
It's been a long time coming (and we've done a lot of teasing) but Lango's full debut as a combatant didn't disappoint in the slightest. He has probably one of the coolest Granute suits in the series so far and his presence on the screen makes him feel like he is absolutely the villain they have been building up to this whole time. I feel like Kamen Rider has a mixed history with 'final boss' characters, but I feel Lango fits the bill 110% and I hope he returns in a meaningful way.
Before I get onto the obvious main event, I wanted to talk about the scene in episode 36 where Shouma reads the comments on Hanto's site. This is honestly kind of the moment I've been waiting for in this show and it didn't disappoint! It felt like a great prestige to so many of the previous mini-arcs, even calling back to the first episode and got a few tears out of me. I think scenes like this are important to a series like Kamen Rider.
Anyway, I think Master Gavv is one of my new favorite final forms. The way Shouma can barely even control the speed of the form is portrayed perfectly and the switching between Master and Over was so cool (kind of reminded me of watching a DMC combo video lol)! Episode 36's fight with Lango is a genuine spectacle and, in my opinion, sets a new bar for Kamen Rider in the Reiwa era at least.
-1gou
UHG this arc was so so cool. Finally… Lango remembers that he’s a major villain in Gavv…..
Anyways as mentioned by 1gou, he didn’t disappoint! He made up for all of his time slacking off as a villain with the absolute gut punch of a reveal that he disappeared hundreds of people overnight. This isn’t even to mention him literally blowing up a plane… so much aura…
The scene that not only establishes his weight as a villain, but also his weight in the story is when he pins Shouma and tells him he should have never been born. The flashing between Shouma and his younger self and the roar of the plane overhead was so so well executed and such a cool shot, I can’t get it out of my head.
Obviously, we don’t think this is the last we will see of Lango, I mean he’s definitely going to come back with a gnarly scar on his face right?
Anyways, Jeep’s crash out continues, I theorized in the moment that he’d get some modification and I was proven right at the time of writing this review, so that’s pretty cool!
Anyways thats all I have to say since 1gou covered the main event, the epic debut fight! This form is ultra cool and we are stoked to see more of it. Overall this arc was super tight, well written, and every moment hit as intended, from fear to triumph! We are hoping to be caught up but the end of this week, thank you for your patience everyone!

Gozyuger Episodes 13 & 14 Review (Spoilers!)
Red… yellow… green.. black…….. Okay, for sure now, Gozyu Yellow is my favorite!!!! Seriously though, as much as I keep flip flopping I feel like Ryugi the most and this arc certainly sealed the deal for me.
Firstly, it’s awesome to see a female red ranger , I was seeing some people online upset that they hadn’t seen one yet so I’m glad we got one. The way she used her ability was really cool and made for some really funny moments.
Speaking of funny moments, it was hilarious to see the strong willed, disciplined Ryugi run away from his responsibilities. It was also funny seeing him combat the manners No.1 in a fight that felt very fitting for the character. Of course though, this arc goes into overdrive at the end of the first episode, when Shoko presumes a never before seen form of RedRacer! The idea of a Sentai Ring betraying their canon has some interesting implications that I don’t really think will be touched on.
Nevertheless this form was simultaneously intimidating and comical as Shoko presumes a delinquent’s tone of voice and wrecks everything in the name of safety. The fight that ensues between Shoko and Ryugi honestly has to be the best fight in the series so far. The emotions were running high, and seeing the embodiment of Ryugi’s fight to be understood visualized was super awesome. I keep on thinking of Ryugi’s final palm blow, so cool ahgg!!!!!
Aside from the main plot, I love how Kuon is getting personified in the most recent episodes. They introduced him as a manipulative, cold, and ultimately badass character, and all of this is still very very true. But I’m kind of obsessed with how they are also personifying him as literally just crazy. The way he messes with people for fun is a subtle but telling indicator to who he is as a person, he just likes to stir the pot. Anyways that’s about it! I know we just said last arc was the best one in the series yet, but this one might just be No. 1 !
-2gou
Toei once again proves that putting a big coat on any superhero makes the look 10x cooler! I think these couple episodes were a good payoff for the pretty long wait we've had for a proper character arc for Ryugi. Giving Red Racer a brand new form (even if it's just clothes on top of the suit) is awesome and I hope they do something else like this at least one more time.
The comedy's on point as usual. I think some of my favorite jokes were just the team being sort of bewildered at how mean Shoko was being to random people on the street. The part where she stole the guy's bike had me cracking up.
Ryugi's transformation in episode 14 has to be the best one in the show so far. The quick cuts to the flashback with the beat of the claps hit really hard, probably one of my favorite shots of the show. I think the only thing that I'd say could have been expanded on more is just showing more of Ryugi and Shoko interacting in the past. We get the scene of them as little kids which was good but it wasn't a whole lot of go on. Still a very effective scene regardless.
This and our next Gavv review are gonna be our last double reviews as we attempt to get caught back up!

Gozyuger Episodes 11 & 12 Review (Spoilers!)
This arc was honestly kind of my favorite one so far. Seriously the show is defiantly getting better and better as it goes on!
Gaia Todoroki is defiantly a stand out Universe Warrior, I mean wherever he went he was aura farming. This isn’t even to mention his extremely unique power in his “one song for one beast” ability. It was a clever use of the animal theme the Gozyuger has (but Hoeru can’t seem to catch a break…)
Learning of his backstory was really tragic, and the Oni No. One honestly made our jaws drop, it had such a cool design! And the level of mystery about him revealed some important information about the No. Ones. Seeing the way Rikuo approached the final fight as his song soothed the restless spirit within the monster and Gaia’s reunion with his wife was particularly touching and I honestly found tears in my eyes.
It’s always nice to see a show as wacky as Gozyuger handling adult themes, Gaia being complacent in his demise was a very heavy shift in the way we view his character. It reminds me of Kuuga or Faiz, it definitely shows that modern Tokusatsu isn’t afraid to address what it means to lose the will to live .
Overall, SUCH a good arc! Excited to see where the next one takes us!
-2gou
These were some of the most compelling episodes by far in my opinion. I wasn't sure how I felt about Gaia in episode 11 but by the next episode I was really invested in him. The reveal of the Oni No.1 was really cool and the wordplay of it hiding inside of the Tag No.1 was cool.
The emotional beats all hit really hard, especially near the end and the use of the Gaoranger music was perfect. I'm glad we're seeing Rikuo do things but they're obviously still hiding the ball on what exactly he's about.
I've been seeing people complain about certain sentai rings getting "wasted" but I think if it means we'll keep getting amazing focus episodes like these with characters that really get a chance to shine and take advantage of the anniversary theme, I don't mind at all. I mean my favorite (AbaRed) got used once and probably won't show up again so it's not like I can't sympathize lol.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 33 & 34 Review (SPOILERS!)
Hello everyone! Sorry for the absence, this is actually my last week of classes, so I’ve defiantly been in a finals crunch along with moving out of my dorm, whew!
Nevertheless, nothing was going to stop us from reviewing these episodes as the final form finally makes its victorious debut! Over Gavv is a hard hitting powerhouse in his first and second fight, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
So obviously we start this arc with Nylev shenanigans. Some people online seemed VERY divisive about a random character like Magen becoming a rider, but honestly Bitter Gavv has ALWAYS been a grunt rider, this is really just Dark Shouma with a creepy crawly twist.
Either way, the way Shouma, Hanto, and Lakia all worked together these episodes were really satisfying. It’s especially triumphant now that they are all official friends and teammates together. Even Sachika pitched in (and no she doesn’t have to be a rider to be relevant, Twitter!).
And onto Over Gavv. With it being the culmination of Dente atoning for his sins, and the teamwork of Shouma’s friends, Over Gavv’s creation connects with Shouma’s personal journey in a way that I haven’t really seen in other Kamen Riders. This nigh invincible form delivers super powerful blows that knock the opponent away in an epic display of power! While the weak points of this form are very clear, it still feels superpowered and well earned, if anything it makes me even more excited to see what Master Gavv is about!
Thank you again for your patience everyone!
-2gou
I loved this final form debut! I think the debut scene really carried a ton of weight and felt like a well deserved breakout for Over Gavv! Knowing we also have Master Gavv on the horizon makes me super excited as well! Who cares about stats anyway?
I think Over Gavv's use as a final form is really cool and not typical of a final form's usual place in a Rider's toolset. Most of the time, once a Rider gains their final form, it essentially replaces their base form and just becomes an excuse for them to go Dynasty Warriors on the enemies. Here, Over Gavv is obviously a massive powerhouse but isn't suited to every situation. I like how much they show how hard it is for Shouma to even move in this form.
Over Gavv's place in the power dynamic of the show is something I've seen being discussed a lot and I have thoughts on this but I think they'll be best covered in our review of episode 35 so I'll continue my thoughts on the subject there.
One more note I need to touch on; the new music they've been busting out for this arc is SO GOOD! The final form theme and new general background themes are awesome and it's gonna absolutely kill me to wait for Vol. 2 of the Gavv soundtrack to drop!
Anyway, that's all from us for now!
