gin-ichimaru:
HIS CHEST WOULD RISE AND FALL, lungs expanding with the steady intake of AIR as they pressed against his ribcage, OBSCURING the heart that held no purpose in his chest other than to beat, and to keep him alive. The organ was all but DEAD in the midst of emotion, and vulnerability––– he would no longer allow himself the luxury.
Gin did not bother to look at the zanpakutō spirit as she spoke; instead, his gaze drifted to the water beneath the bridge where she sat, watching the ripples fall to peace beneath the sinking stone previously sent skipping.
❝ She ain’t ever gonna forgive me for this, ❞ he spoke plainly, lips formed into a straight line as he considered their plans. There was no going back, now––– rather, there had been no going back for DECADES, but in this moment, everything felt undoubtedly final, as his own blade had nearly shattered Rangiku’s. He shouldn’t have loved her, as he did all of these years… it was only now, only after seeing that look of anger, and DESPERATION in her eyes, that he knew his eventual betrayal would hurt her MORE than he had ever anticipated.
❝ …Things are only gonna git harder from here. ❞
the serpent could feel her heart beat in the back of her throat, but she knew this unease would dissipate like the ripples in the water. his soul had a vice grip on her heart and every pulse of pain in his chest resonated in her’s-- her spirit echoed his cries. a despondent melody that threatened to bring her to tears if she listened too long. she was an animal. raw and always succumbing to instinct. emotion was a second thought, but in this moment, she felt human. shinso felt fragile, something she was not used to at all. ❝ you’ll just grin and bear it... ❞ --and as he did, she would always trail behind him. following the pieces he had, and would continue to carve from his heart. she would save them for a later date. shinso would preserve his humanity. ❝ this is the road we follow now, gin ichimaru. ❞ shinso was a snake. cold of flesh and devoid of heart, but she would keep his warm as she took the backseat and allow him to lead her this time. they made many promises to each other when he was younger. she taught him many things, but she was now learning from him. learning how to handle pain far greater than any surface wound. oh how agonizing it was to have a human heart too hold onto.
