Part2 of how to draw wasp and bee
(part one will be linked in reply)
(still on ‘LIGHTS’ layer, using ‘mid’ color) add hightlight to the veins on the body and belly, use eraser to fade them at the edges
(still on ‘LIGHTS’ layer) add sparkles on wings and belly
(I just draw them by hand)
sparkles should be concentrated at the wing edges
make new screen layer above ‘LIGHTS’ layer (call it ‘HIGHTLIGHTS’) using ‘mid’ color add shines on the body and gradient on wing edges
not shown here, but make sure that your shines on the body don’t go over the veins, also make the shines fade slightly :o
time for wings transparency
make new normal layer under the ‘LIGHT COLORS’ (call it ‘DARK COLORS’), using ‘dark’ color draw the parts that are behind the wing membrane (and only the membrane):
in bee gene most of the transparency is just solid color, but you can show some details if you want, like here you can see back spikes but not the tail
this kind of transparency is done on one layer (in oposite to multiple layers like in slime/sludge)
draw back wing, erase it to make it fade, and then draw spikes
notice: you can’t see back wing throught the spikes
(still on ‘DARK COLORS’ layer) using ‘dark’ color add gradients on face, shoulder, thigh, tail, and a little bit above belly around the shoulder
my fan breed does not have mane, but if the breed you are working with have it, then here is what to do:
on ‘LIGHT COLORS’ layer, using ‘light’ color add streaks on the mane at the hair ends, make them fade toward the body
on “MID COLORS’ layer, using ‘mid’ color, add gradient at the ends of hair
select your ‘VEINS’ layer (like in step 3a in first part)
go to each layer of your gene (other than ‘VEINS’) and hit delete on each of them. You don’t want to have any gene color above or under the veins
and we are finally done, here how your layers should look like:
(layer 4 is just general dragon shadows, I forgot to rename it)
