At the cinema ~ Dieter Hellstrom x Fem!Reader
Synopsis: You work at a cinema in Paris as an accountant and today you had the pleasure to meet a handsome major. SFW fic, reader is a bit sassy lol
Kana's note: New fic! This will most likely also have multiple parts, but I'm not sure yet so if you have any requests feel free to send them in and I'll do what I can to work them into this (or I can write a separate fic) :)
Wordcount: 1.2 k
You worked at the cinema owned by the Mimieux family. You were hired as an accountant by the original owners, when they passed away and left the cinema to Emanuelle you kept working there. You only worked a couple hours every day, and didn't interact much with either Emanuelle or Marcel, yours was a cordial work relationship. Every once in a while though, you'd help with putting up posters and rearranging the letters at the cinema's entrance. That was exactly what you were doing today, when a black car pulled up at the side of the road. Two soldiers stepped out of it, you had no idea what to make of it.
"Mademoiselle Mimieux?" The soldier in a black uniform asked.
"Non." you replied. You could see the officer was disappointed by the answer. He said something to the soldier standing next to him.
"Get down please" the other soldier asked you in French. You obeyed and walked to them.
"I can speak German, officers. What do you need mademoiselle Mimieux for?" You asked, dusting off your clothes. The officer, whom you now could read by his insignia was a major, looked both relieved and surprised by you speaking German.
"Do you know where she is?" He asked.
"I know she went out to buy some supplies at the square" You replied nonchalantly.
"Get in the car and point her out if you see her" he ordered. You obviously obeyed, what else could you do?
You were sitting in the back of the vehicle, the major next to you. His presence was imposing but he didn't particularly scare you. You had nothing to hide, and you were used to soldiers.
"What do you need her for?" you asked after a few instances of awkward silence.
"None of your business." the major replied abrasively.
"I'm that woman's accountant, I think it kind of is" you retorted without missing a beat.
"You're her accountant? And you're cleaning display letters?" He gave you a questioning glance.
"Well there's not much to account for in a small cinema, I help out with other tasks when I have time" You folded your arms and gave him a bit of a glare.
"Keep your eyes on the road. I told you to spot help her, Fräulein"
"Sorry, major." You emphasized his title without even meaning to as you turned your gaze back to the outside. After a while you saw Emanuelle as she was about to enter a shop.
"There, the blonde one with the beret" The car immediately stopped.
"You stay here" The major ordered as he and the driver exited the vehicle and went over to your boss. In those few moments that you were alone you wondered what else did they need you for if they just needed help finding Emanuelle. Oh well, officers in an occupied country, you figured. You never know what they're up two. The two soldiers escorted your boss back to the car and seated her next to you, you could see she was quite tense, but she was overcome by surprise when she saw you.
"Y/N?"
"Salut Emanuelle. I have no idea where they're escorting us to. Do you?" You kept your tone relaxed, in an attempt to calm her. The major didn't seem to speak French so you figured that was what intimidated her.
"I don't" She replied quietly, and you all remained quiet for the rest of the ride which turned out to be quite short. Once the car stopped once more everybody got out but just us you were to do the same the major stopped you again.
"You stay here. Make sure she doesn't leave." He told the soldier who drove, he simply nodded. You wanted to protest but the major stormed away quickly, Emanuelle in his track. You got out but made no attempt to leave, you just leaned against the car. The soldier keeping an eye on you didn't seem keen on talking so all you could do was wait. A while later you saw the major return. He told something to the driver as he stepped away from the car and left you two alone.
"Now, Fräulein, tell me why do you know German?"
"Maybe beacause I was born in Vienna"
"Your French sounds like that of a native though"
"I've been learning French since I was a kid, I picked up my teacher's southern accent, and I've lived here many years. I don't think it's that unusual" You explained. The major's gaze was intense, but your voice remained nonchalant and composed, he found no reason to be suspicious.
"Get back into the car, we're going to the cinema for a screening." He said after a sigh. You were getting a lift back, that was nice of him at least. You settled in the back while he got behind the wheel. Once he did he glanced at the backseat for a couple moments.
"Looking for something?" You smirked as you held up a lighter. His lighter.
"You swiped my lighter off of me?!" He gave you an incredulous look.
"I didn't! It slipped from your pocket when you got out to get Emanuelle!" You explained, still way too calmly for the average civilian. He snatched his lighter out of your hand, he still couldn't believe your attitude.
"You've got some nerve, Fräulein"
"It's Y/N mister major" You leaned back against the car seat.
"...Dieter Hellstrom." He finally introduced himself.
"Pretty name, mister. How come the other soldier is not coming?"
"It's just a private screening, only those strictly concerned need to be there." He explained, glossing over your compliment. He glanced at you through the rear view mirror, now that you were alone and he wasn't suspicious of you you noticed he was much less intimidating than what he seemed. He looked a bit tired too, with those bags under his eyes. The whole car ride you studied him quietly, he was charming although he didn't speak much. Once you had arrived back to the cinema you were the only ones there, so Dieter lit himself a cigarette. You could've left his side whenever you would've liked, but you didn't, you kept lingering.
"Have you not anywhere else to be?" he asked after a while.
"I could go home, but you'd get bored all alone, wouldn't you?" you teased.
"That's a bold statement" he blew out some smoke.
"It seems impolite to allow you to stand around alone when I could wait a couple of minutes. There's only one other worker at the cinema and he only speaks French. Trust me, you're better off with me" you grinned cheekily. Dieter was left speechless once more. He rarely expected such attitude from the socialites, much less an accountant he had just met.
"It's not like there could be much to talk about" He huffed after composing himself.
"You could tell me why some officers are suddenly interested in this small cinema" You prompted him.
"One of the soldiers, who happens to be an actor took a liking to it" He answered simply.
"What about you?"
"I haven't even been inside yet, how would I know?" he huffed again.
"You can still like the outside!" You joked lightheartedly. Just then you saw some cars approaching from the end of the road.
"Well, I suppose you'll have your company back soon enough. I will take my leave" You started walking away, intentionally passing in front of the major, so you could glance back at him and add:"I start work at eight tomorrow, but I'll be here at seven" before walking away, the grin from before still on your face.
İ really enjoy my headcanon that hans is dieters adoptive father. Could you draw some sketches about it please? Thanks!!
Yes pookie🎀 hope i did it right🙏

Good taste in books ~ Dieter Hellstrom x Fem!Reader (Part 3)
Part 1 Part 2
Synopsis: Continuation from part 2. SFW, suggestive at the end!
Kana's note: all is not lost that is delayed my dear readers. Forgive the long wait! School is out so expect more activity finally :))
Wordcount: 1.4 k
It had been a couple of days since you last saw your beloved. Work was keeping both of you busy, but he had slipped you a message through another soldier: he had the night off, you could meet at the tavern tonight. You couldn't wait, you were made to deep clean a room top to bottom that day (rumor had it a movie star was going to stay there!), you worked very hard and diligently to finish early. You didn't even feel tired, you were just so excited to be with Dieter again.
You locked the room once you were finally done and quickly went to change out of your work clothes. You threw on a dress you liked and tried to fix your hair: it was a mess after being under a scarf all day, but you didn't have time to style it so you just did what you could. You sprayed some perfume on, hoping it would camouflage the smell of cleaning supplies clinging to your skin. Once you felt ready enough you finally left your board and headed for the tavern.
You were happy like you had been all day at the prospect of seeing Dieter, but as you rushed down the cobblestone stairs, a bad feeling overcame you. A feeling of... danger. But you didn't have time to stop, for you had already reached the bottom of the stairs by the time you registered the feeling. You saw a group of drunken soldiers, and at another table were sitting three officers, a fashionable woman, and your beloved Dieter. You felt some tension in the room, but you didn't really know why, couple that with the bad feeling, it made you incredibly anxious.
"Ah, am I interrupting?" You asked.
"Not at all, Fräulein, are you looking for someone?" One of the officers inquired.
"Yes, for the uh, major... Something urgent came up, you must come immediately" You tried hiding the anxiety in your voice as you quickly thought up a fake scenario to not reveal your identity too soon.
"Fräulein, we were in the middle of a game here" Dieter kept a detached look, but given he hadn't called you by name nor made any attempt to approach you, you took it as a cue to keep playing the part.
"It cannot wait, please, come immediately, you must go back to Paris- I don't wish to be scolded in your place sir" you quickly went by his side, urging him with your gaze to get up. Whatever was happening, you wanted to get him out of there as soon as possible.
"It looks like I have to take my leave sooner than expected. Officers, Fräulein von Hammersmark, adieu" he greeted them politely before exiting the tavern.
"It was the colonel that asked of you, we must return to Paris at once" you kept the act up as you walked away quickly. Once you had passed a couple houses he spoke up.
"You can stop now." He pulled you off the main road in the shadow of a house and grabbed you by the shoulders. "What were you thinking interfering?"
"Those officers didn't look exactly thrilled, and I, I'm hearing of more and more attacks from the resistance, and what was a movie start doing here, there usually isn't anyone there, and I didn't want you in there alone...!" You started rambling, barely giving yourself time to catch your breath.
"Stop, stop. Y/N" that snapped you out of your panic, he rarely called you by your name, you were always Liebe or Schatz to him. "I'm not mad, I just want to understand. What made you panic?"
"I don't know! I don't know...I just didn't want you to be in there anymore! I had a bad feeling!" there was still anxiety in your voice.
"...Go home" He commanded, his voice softer.
"I'm not going without you!" you grabbed his arm to emphasize your intention.
"Fine...!" He said after a sigh.
He practically dragged you back to your board. It was late, so he didn't have to worry about anyone seeing him sneaking in. Once the door to your room was shut and locked you glanced at him, finally feeling slightly calmer.
"Did I ruin something important?" You asked worriedly, he nearly laughed.
"Liebe, you saved my life. They were spies."
Your eyes widened. Your jaw dropped.
"What did you just say?" you just stared at him in complete shock.
"I didn't have definitive proof, yet. But I did not know those enlisted men, and I know everybody stationed in France. It's very likely they were outsiders. You extracted me from danger, Liebe. Thank you"
"Well then you should've... You should...what now? Must you really leave for Paris after all?" you asked after a bit of thinking.
"It's late. If they are spies they will have left already. I'll submit a report tomorrow." He explained after reflecting for a short while. "And I think you won't sleep if I leave now, would you?" He added, his voice softer.
"I wouldn't..." you admitted, relaxing in turn.
Neither of you slept much that night. You were worried, while Dieter was replaying the events in his head over and over again, trying to notice as many clues as he could. Only after he had felt you finally falling asleep in his arms did he manage to get some meager hours of shuteye.
***
The next morning Dieter left early. He gazed down at your sleeping form before leaving: you were peaceful, and evermore beautiful to him. He decided he was going to visit you that night, no matter what his day was going to be like. And he would do so every single day. He no longer felt like he could stand being away from you for more than a day.
As he made his way down the streets of Nadine he saw some military cars outside the tavern. So his suspicions were funded. He made his way into the tavern immediately. What he saw was nothing short of a bloodbath: nearly everybody he had seen there the previous night was dead. Colonel Landa was already investigating the scene. He looked up, quite surprised to see Dieter.
"Major? Were you in town too?"
"I was, colonel."
"I had guessed you had been here, your coat and book were in the back. I assumed you had crawled and bled out somewhere and yet, you're unscathed and you've just arrived now. How come?" Landa asked, he looked slightly relieved to see not every German had perished in the shootout.
"I was made to leave before the situation seems to have escalated." Dieter responded simply, still glancing around the crime scene.
"By whom" Landa prompted him further.
"My fiancée insisted I leave." It wasn't completely unknown that he was seeing someone, but this was the first time he had called you his fiancée. "I recognize I should've done something to prevent this. Losing five soldiers for nothing..." He trailed of, Landa just smirked and took a couple steps deeper into the tavern.
"Oh no, not for nothing. We got Stiglitz, two bastards...but yes, that lady might've just saved your life, look in what condition these poor compatriots of ours have been reduced to..." His eyes landed on a spot on the floor. He casually spoke again. "Major, you're free to leave, I'll interrogate you at another time. Keep quiet about this, and don't be late to the movie premier, bring your lovely fiancée as well"
Dieter stood still for a moment, before saluting his superior. "As you wish, colonel. I'll take my leave."
***
That night, he found himself back in Nadine, back in your arms.
"You look tenser each time I visit" he teased, and yet he stared at you with such a look in his eyes that needn't be accompanied by words. It immediately melted your worries away, leaving only relief and calm in their place.
"I heard what happened... It could've been you lying there dead." you whispered.
"But I'm alive. Because you came along" he said softly. You remained pressed against his chest, refusing to move.
"Y/N" he called your name after a while. Something he rarely did, so you immediately looked up.
"I think it would be best for you to marry me"
You stared at him completely shocked, your cheeks turning red.
"Are you serious?" you managed to say, but it was a silly question, he was always serious.
He opted to not say anything and just lead you to the bed. Once you were laying down and he was over you, he spoke once more.
"So what do you say?"
"Yes" you replied. "a thousand times yes" were your last words before he kissed you deeply as his hands started to undo the buttons of your shirt.

After that first meeting you and Dieter started seeing each other quite regularly. It was usually at the tavern, where you'd sit isolated from the other patrons if there were any. Most of your conversations were about books, Dieter seldom talked about his job to you. Whenever he'd remember anything about it, he opted to keep quiet. His whole day was just about being a major, but on the nights when you two could meet, he felt like he could keep his guard down. He had obviously run a background check on you, and after finding nothing out of the ordinary, he quickly grew to enjoy your company. You didn't put on a show when talking, and your interests were more mundane compared to the people he worked with. Oftentimes, you would just sit beside one another reading. It didn't take long for you to become more intimate than just acquaintances. Sometimes, when he felt it was safe, he'd spend the night at your board, only to leave early in the morning to go back to Paris. You didn't see each other every day, but you tried meeting at least once a week.
Today was a day out of the ordinary: you weren't at the little village of Nadine, you were standing in the french capital. Some guests that had stayed at the venue where you worked asked for a fluent escort to help them reach an address in Paris they weren't familiar with. After escorting them you were just about to go back to the chauffeur that was supposed to take you back home, when you noticed a familiar figure exit a building and get in a car that promptly drove away. You were quick to recognize him. You decided to check out the restaurant he had just left: it was full of soldiers and well dressed women, it had been a while since you had heard so much German in one place. After you took in the scene, you approached a waiter that didn't seem too busy.
"Excuse me garçon, is there an important event here today?"
"The German army and their friends often dine here, miss. It's nothing unusual, today just so happens to be exceptionally busy"
"I just saw two men leave, do you think they'll be back?"
"Who knows. They come, they go. Probably will be back, it's still the middle of lunch after all" the waiter quickly left you as he noticed a table needing assistance. You decided to linger by the reception and wait a couple minutes to see if you could catch a glimpse pf your beloved. You didn't have to wait a long time, for the intimidating major walked through the restaurant's door soon after, walking close to a lady who looked quite tense. If Dieter had seen you, he had promptly ignored you, but you wouldn't have minded, given he was working after all. What caught your attention was how scary and commanding he could look when he wished. You weren't used to this side of him, even if technically it was the first impression you had had of him back at the tavern when you had first met many weeks ago now. You kept lingering near the reception, catching small glimpses and phrases of the conversation some officers were having with the young woman.
Suddenly, a tall, older but still handsome officer walked past you and into the room you were discretely observing. Gradually, the people inside poured out, expect for the older officer and the young woman. Of course, Dieter was amongst those who had exited, he discretely approached you when he saw you.
"Mademoiselle, I believe you have my lighter" he said casually, trying to not make you stand out. You happily obliged to the act, taking out a lighter from your pocket and handing it to him.
"Was that you earlier? You walked in here like you were gonna bite that poor girl's head off!" you asked with a smile, but still minding to keep your voice down.
"Zoller could not shut up about her. I had to go get her and get her quick." he rolled his eyes slightly, as he placed a new cigarette between his lips.
"She only speaks French from what I gather?"
"Ja." He replied while he lit the cigarette.
"Aw, maybe I can help translate, if-" you were just about to a step towards the room when he stopped you.
"Nein." He gripped your arm firmly. "You're quite alright out here"
You looked back at him with a bit of confusion.
"Colonel Landa speaks French well," He elaborated. "and the most important matters have already been settled."
"Is that so?"
"Yes. And you should finish whatever business brought you to Paris and head back to Nadine as soon as you can" his eyes were keeping tabs on the whole room in front of him, where each soldier was, talking with whom, making sure no one was looking at you.
"But Dieter I just got to see you for barely a minute" you complained a bit.
"Call me Sturmbannführer in public." he said firmly. "I'll see you tonight. Do you have a ride to reach Nadine?"
"Yes, I do...I finish at 6 tonight, see you then" you said quietly, holding back a smile.
"Good day to you, mademoiselle" he said slightly more loudly than he had the other sentences.
***
That night, Dieter was patiently waiting in the alleyway next to the venue where you were working and living. The routine was as follows: if there weren't events being hosted, you would wait for your shift to be over and the hallways to mostly quiet down before you'd sneakily open the locked side entrance, let him in, lock the door again, and make it to your room as quickly as possible. Tonight was odd: you were running late. Once Dieter finally heard the click of the lock and saw your face through the decorative glass of the door he slipped inside the venue, he only spoke when you were safely inside your room.
"Liebe, I believe you told me you'd get off work by 6" He began.
"I know I just-"
"it is 8, Liebeling. What could've possibly been more important?" He stepped quite close to you, as if to playfully intimidate you.
"My workplace...which provides my housing" you replied a bit embarrassed.
"Which provides you with your skin burned off your hands because of the chemicals, Liebe" he reprimanded, even though you knew he did out of a place of care.
"I'm sorry, Dieter"
"Fine, I'll forgive you. Just for tonight" He kissed you softly once, twice, then three times. "I have some duties very early in the morning tomorrow..." he started saying, as his hands slowly lifted your skirt.
"So tonight our time isn't as plentiful as usual" he explained as his hand caressed the skin of your thighs. He turned you around so your back was pressing against his chest, as his fingers stroked you through your panties.
"Hey, too forward..." You trembled at the contact.
"Shut up. You know how I am"
He kept kneading your intimacy through the cotton lace, you tried hard to stay still.
"Come on, you know I don't like dirtying my clothes..." You tried keeping your voice down.
"I can't stay the night tonight, you'll have to endure me this way"
He kept stroking you, his fingers becoming more insistent, almost pushing you into him. You couldn't help but start moving slightly, looking for more friction than what he was already providing. He was quick to move the fabric aside and push a finger in you, which immediately made you sigh in relief, before it turned into pleasure. You covered your mouth in an attempt to muffle the moans that you knew were coming.
"It seems you can be satisfied even with little." He smirked, seeing how quickly you got wet.
"you know that's not t-true...!" You suppressed a moan as he pushed in another finger. He remained still to let you adjust to the feeling, before he started moving his hand again, which made you even more aroused in mere seconds.
"What were you saying, Liebe?"
"Fine, proved your point there, but p-please, if you really have to leave don't leave me with just touches!"
He chuckled. "Doesn't that go without saying?"
He swiftly removed his fingers, and gave you a moment to catch your breath. He took off the outermost layers of his clothing then helped you undress too, his movements rushed now. In an instant you were both on your bed, him laying behind you, his arms caging you against his firm chest. He penetrated you slowly and without warning, your breathing quickened as you tried to remain quiet still. His thrusts were slow at first, before they started getting quicker, more uncoordinated. He didn't move his lower body too much given your position, but he didn't have to to drive you mad with pleasure. He knew you and your sensitive spots all too well. It was ironic you were trying to be silent, because his thrusts didn't even give you enough time to form words. His shaft was stroking your insides so deliciously, constantly drawing gasps from your lips, his arms and chest provided warmth for your whole body, and his scent, goodness it was all around you. You couldn't help but be absolutely intoxicated by it. This moment was just too perfect for you: the closeness after a long day, his breathing right next to your ear, his soft groans barely audible as he focused completely on the intimacy with you. When he reached his climax he didn't stop moving, just merely let out a breath he was holding and kept thrusting until you came as well, you weren't that far behind.
After the intense but slightly rushed ordeal, you both just laid there catching your breath. His arms wrapped around you even more tightly, not letting you move an inch. You felt a kiss on the back of your head before your eyes drooped, and you fell into a light sleep for a couple minutes. He fell asleep soon too, and stayed that way for at least half an hour.
"I know you're awake, your breathing changed" you muttered after a while. You just heard a scoff from behind you.
"Look how perceptive mein schatz is becoming" he said, you could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Slept well, mein liebe?"
"I always sleep well with you, I just wish I could remain the night"
You turned around slightly in his arms to see his face. "I wish so too"
He sighed when he saw your face. Your cheeks were flushed, your eyes soft and sleepy, and oh so full of love. "There will be other nights...but even so, let me hold you a bit longer" he squeezed you even closer to himself.
"Give me some room to breathe, goodness!" you teased lightheartedly.
"Nein, I don't think I will, schatz" he kept his hold steady. You simply relaxed and enjoyed the couple extra minutes of love he was allowing himself for the night.
for humanitarian purposes I will share my findings with the rest of the world
Good taste in books ~ Dieter Hellstrom x Fem!Reader
Synopsis: Your first meeting with a handsome major in a bar. Fully SFW fanfic
Kana's note: It has come to my attention I probably read every Dieter Hellstrom fic in existence so I felt like I needed to contribute to the fandom. I hope you enjoy! :)) It's my first time writing anything for IB so constructive criticisms are much appreciated! (Also apologies for English mistakes just in case)
Oh and this is (probably) the first of a multiple part series, I'll maybe write two more parts or something :)
Edit: Here is part 2!
Wordcount: 1.3 k
You weren't one to frequent taverns, or bars, or the like. You preferred to stay indoors, reading, taking care of your space, decorating, the little things. You worked as a cleaner with board at a venue that held many events, both for military personnel and civilians. It was tough work, the skin on your hands hardly resembled that of a young woman anymore. Other than the demanding job, the constant soldiers on the street, and the efforts of the resistance on top of that made you uneasy and constantly on edge. You decided to treat yourself to some alcohol to help you relax, but it wasn't doing much. As you sipped your wine you were flipping through a book you had already read before. You liked the fact you knew the ending already, and how the book was so well written it was still engaging regardless.
"Mademoiselle?" An officer came up to your table, interrupting your reading. You looked up, he looked like he was already drunk.
"Oui?" You asked, purposefully not switching to German.
"What are you doing here alone, with no date?"
"I needn't a date to enjoy a drink"
"That's true, but surely you'd want a friend, drinking in company is always better." He sat down at your table uninvited.
"Monsieur, I'm not interested" you tried rejecting him politely.
"Why not? A beautiful lady, alone, surely a little company-"
"Please leave me be Monsieur, I'd like to be alone" you tried rejecting him once more.
You glanced around the tavern. There was a table of soldiers in front of you, the one the drunken man had gotten up from. And there was no one else, well, save for the bartender and waitress. No one to call on to escape the situation. You either fled the tavern now or you endured the drunkard's flirting.
"Sergeant. Troubling a lady is quite improper behavior." A man, wearing a crisp black uniform emerged from a small room in the back of the tavern you hadn't even noticed at first.
"Sturmbannführer...! I'm not troubling her, I'm just-"
"You're drunk and she has repeatedly told you to leave her alone. Can't you read a room, sergeant?"
The man looked embarrassed, but he realized standing up to a seemingly sober officer would bring him more trouble than it's worth. He got up, slowly, and went back to his table, the other soldiers quickly reeled him back into drinking with them.
"And that settles it." The officer that had helped you stated, still keeping an eye on the soldiers. "But now, I really want to know where that accent is from, mademoiselle" the major turned his gaze back to you. He had spoken in German to the soldier and hadn't switched back when he turned to you, except for the emphasized French courtesy.
"I'm... I'm German, sir..." You replied meekly, finally speaking in your native tongue.
"Regensburg" He said quickly, it seemed a single phrase in German was all he needed to hear to pinpoint your origin.
"How'd you know?" you asked, quite startled by his on point guess.
"I've an ear for accents, Fräulein. Now tell me, why lie about that to a soldier?"
"It wasn't lying...just withholding information. I just wished to get rid of that man's attention, I thought speaking French would get him away quicker..."
"Lying to drunken enlisted men, I'll say alright," he moved to stand in front of you. "But with me, you're better off telling the truth"
"What do you wanna know, officer?" You got all too aware of your quickening heartbeat as you spoke.
"The reason to your shaking. What's terrifying you so?"
You looked away from the officer, and realized your hands were trembling like leaves in a windstorm. "I don't like...wartime" you muttered a reply.
"I don't think many people enjoy wartime. That said, you should feel safest around an officer sworn to protect you, a compatriot"
"Yes but..." You tried explaining yourself, but the words stuck in your throat. You kept your gaze low, in an almost ashamed manner.
"I get it." Your heart stopped beating frantically for a moment when you heard that. "If we didn't have this effect on people, we officers would be out of a job. I'll leave you be Fräulein, good evening"
"Actually do you mind staying?" you asked suddenly, quietly. The major stopped in his tracks. "Just until I know they're drunk enough to not follow me, please, sir?" you continued. The officer took a moment to think.
"Very well, let me ask you some more questions then, Fräulein." he took a seat in front of you. "First question: I've never seen you at this tavern before. But your French is good, you're not new in town are you?"
"I've been living in France a couple years now, sir. I don't often go out for drinks"
"Why is that?"
"My job is demanding, I don't have much time to unwind or too much money to spend"
"Why leave Germany if your prospect is a bad job?" he tilted his head slightly
"I didn't know it would be like this...I simply heard of an open position in France as an 'assistant' at a house, I had no idea I would end up worse than a... a scullery maid" you muttered with a tinge of disdain, it was clear it hurt your pride to work such a lowly position, you probably were much better off in your native Regensburg.
He processed your words for a few moments, before noticing the book in front of you.
"What may you be reading?" He inquired.
"Goethe" you closed your book to show him the cover.
"Good taste, Fräulein..." He whispered. He flipped through the pages of your book, as if making sure it truly was just a book of poems and novels typed in tiny letters. He stopped on some verses, skipped through others, and once he was satisfied he pushed the book back towards you. "It is good to read classics, they can offer much insight." as he was speaking you couldn't help but notice his eyes. They were blue, and stood out against the bags around them that made it almost down to his cheeks. He looked so...human. And handsome.
As you were observing him, he turned around briefly to examine the other soldiers. They were still drinking, talking nonsense, some where nodding off already. They were all fully immersed in their own world.
"It seems your botherer and his companions have drank themselves into blissful stupor, Fräulein."
You looked past him and noticed what he had stated what true. As you did, he looked back at the table, and noticed your glass was empty, he took it as a cue that your little impromptu interrogation was over.
"Come. Let me accompany you at least to the main road." He said quietly. As he got up from his chair he wrapped his coat around himself.
"Sir, I'd rather not bother you" you were quick to be modest.
"You do not bother me. I much rather speak with an interesting scullery maid who reads, than a soldier whom is drunk" that shut you up. He had charm, you couldn't deny it. He ushered you out of the tavern and into the street.
"Which direction is your dwelling?" he asked you.
"That way" you pointed down the road. He walked you for a while, when you reached a crossroad, he bid you goodbye.
"Wait..." you stopped him before he could leave. "Do you always go to that tavern?"
"On nights off, yes, Fräulein."
"Then, if I-" he interrupted you before you could finish your sentence.
"Come around more often if you'd like, pay no mind to your earnings. I'll cover the drinks." his words were more than you could've ever hoped for. You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding, and smiled.
"Thank you, Sturmbannführer" As you said that, he suppressed a laugh.
"It's Sturmbannführer Dieter Hellstrom, at your service. Fräulein...?"
"Y/N L/S" you replied. He offered a small smile you barely saw in the faint moonlight, a smile you couldn't help but reciprocate.
