Analysis on this
Jax is facing away, always looking back and never engaging with the viewer, conveying a quiet sense of frustration and fear.
Pomni looks straight ahead, directly addressing the viewer. Though tense, she remains hopeful for escape, with an open door reflected in her eyes.
Jax’s ring hangs loosely on his finger, on the verge of falling off, yet his stubbornness makes it hard for him to let go.
Pomni’s ring isn’t even on her finger, it rests in the palm of her hand, showing she has no attachments.
But the ring is not meant to represent their relationship with each other. It is with the circus.
Jax is holding Ribbit’s bow, an item that symbolizes consequence, affirming his need to maintain his “performance” in the circus just to survive.
Pomni only holds onto herself, her fingers positioned as if she’s taking her pulse, reminding herself that she is still alive and human, no matter what.
Behind Jax is a door belonging to an abstracted character, marked with an X. It’s unclear who it belonged to, possibly someone he knew, or one of the many who abstracted before.
Behind Pomni stands what is presumed to be an NPC, positioned near the glowing door. Like an exit, yet they neither urge her to enter nor block her path, simply standing there, offering Pomni a choice in how she will face her fate.
Jax stands in the shadows, while Pomni stands in the light, one in bitter acceptance, the other holding onto hope and resistance.
This drawing represents two characters who care for each other, but whose differing mindsets, goals, and attachments make it impossible for their relationship to truly last, especially in a world that challenges everything that they are.
