“Seaweed?” The doctor looks at the boy before looking under the hood and notices the green hair and laughs. “I see, but did you ever tell him your real name?” She watches the boy tossing the fish as Gabe watches the two of them from bellow like a shark. She signs that she be down soon. Just have to clean up his mess which of course gets a eye roll before going after the fish, making her giggle. “Oh?” She sits on the edge. “What is his nickname?” The doctor was curious.
Seeing the boy watch the merman she smiles gently. “Fascinating isn’t he? It’s a shame though, that we can’t see him where he meant to be, in his full glory.” The woman frowns a bit before looking at the boy. “Do you have another fish, he usually likes to have three. Mermen tends to burn more then human men, at least, when they are their natural habitats, that’s why they can eat more then one fish at a time. Did he ever tell you that?”
He had laughed as he showed off his hair, crouched down and just watching Gabe with a smug smile of pure revenge. “He never asked. I just asked for an upgrade from being called the same thing as everyone else” Genji replies, finally looking at the doctor that tended to the dick in the water. “And it’s Genji, by the way. Pleasure to be able to not get kicked out for being a visitor” he grins.
“Tried to call him Sharkbait, and he just asked if that was what I wanted to wind up as, and he just spilled his name. I don’t mind though..” he murmurs, growing quiet as he just stares and watches Gabe feast, pointing to the last fish in the bucket. “He splashed me yesterday. This is payback. Also he did demand three live ones- someone keeps feeding him dead ones.”
“Human?” The doctor asks. She was in the same boat a while back with him. As he says his name and was grateful for not being kicked out she lets out a small laugh. “Mer-people can be tricksters, and mischievous, they can trance and trick humans into doing things, and Gabe quite good at that. If it was anyone else, you would be kicked out, but I will make make an exception for today, since it is Gabe after all, and you seem to know him more than others.”
Tilting her head, she slides her feet into the water. “Sharkbait? Why that nickname?” She was curious. Gabe was a tiger shark like clan of mer-people after all. “Mind what?” Looking at the fish she looks up at the boy before looking down at Gabe as he swims about near the bottom, watching them, waiting. Taking the pail she tips it till the fish pores out. “Opps…” She smiles. “Mer-people, at least his kind, tends to hunt for their food, and likes theirs more fresh. They can taste the difference between what was just alive and what was dead for some time. But most people don’t know a lot about mer-people, only those of us that studied them and interacted with them, properly I should say. He doesn’t talk to many, besides me, I think you are the only one. Since the human language doesn’t really come naturally to his kind, that, and being not from the Japanese area, he is even more to himself than usual. That’s why I taught him sign language, he doesn’t need to speak, and it tends to be more universal. But most of the other treat him like any other rare or endangered species of fish or mammals in this and any other aquarium…Even though he is just as human as he is fish…” She frowns a bit at those words, her eyes meeting with Gabe’s before he takes off for the fish she set free. “I think that gets the better of him.”
