It’s not particularly easy for him to remember a time in which his thoughts would clearly allow him to express something akin to genuine joy; he placed all of his time and emotions into helping others, so he could ignore the struggles that tore through his mind, rampantly. He simply allowed himself to drown in silence, not wanting to speak out for fear of driving anyone away.
There were moments that gave way to such happenings; the smallest falter in the way eyes shine, the way tiers twitch with each smirk, hesitant--yet, quickly, they were covered once more, as though such problems were far from his mind, if they ever crossed it at all.
He’ll just keep smiling and being oblivious if it means others’ problems will be fixed.
