[Text]: It was during Prom and she was just like "I need to tell you something" and so I was all "what?" and she was all "I love you, Karen. I love you." And I was like totally fucking dumbstruck and just asked what again and she said it again and then like I sort of just made out with her because I really, really suck at words.
[Text]: Wow. Whatever, man.
Lets show 'em how to dance badly in style.
"I’m better now— better than I was." She responded, finally meeting Karen’s gaze. "I’m sorry, I don’t want to put a downer on everything, I just— wanted you to know. Because you make me really happy, Kare. Really happy.”
Karen immediately wrapped her arms around the blonde in a tight hug. "Baby, no. You weren't a downer. It's... a lot to take in, but it's your story and your life and you are so strong." She pressed a soft kiss to the girl's temple. "I'm always here for you, okay?"
Thank god.

— You… you love me too, right?
Yes!
I love you, Karen.
— I love you, Karen. I love you.
...what?
[ They dance for a bit until Devon leans in to whisper, but really yells over the music, in her ear. ] Where’s Lily? Did you take her tonight?
Yeah! Yeah, she's here somewhere. Did you take Violet?
Lily let out a breath as they turned away, knowing she had to tell Karen. Because she wanted her to know everything about her— she didn’t want anymore secrets. Once they broke free of the crowds, Lily started to talk. “I need to tell you something— about my family.”
"Okay," Karen replied slowly, giving Lily her full attention. Lily's family was something she knew very little about. Karen had never questioned about it, either. She respected Lily's space. Still, her intrigue grew. She wanted to know everything about Lily, and felt grateful she was ready to open up. "What about them?"
— I wanna tell you something.
Shoot.
Lily nodded, offering her girlfriend a grateful smile as they weaved through the crowd; not dropping her hand. The blonde stayed silent as Karen asked if they could leave, feeling the weight of what she was about to tell her. Despite herself, Lily’s smile grew when Karen’s mother said she loved her. She’d never been loved by parents before— Lily was always the ‘bad influence’, someone who should be avoided. Lily’s eye’s flickered across to her grandparents, and her grandfather quickly responded. “Sure thing, Lils. Just be back here pretty soon, okay? Me and you’re Grandma want to take you out to dinner." Lily smiled gratefully, "thanks, Grandpa." She murmured, tugging lightly on Karen’s hand. "We’re just going to go get some air."
Karen gave Lily's grandparents one last warm smile, intertwining her fingers with Lily's and quietly walking out. She kept Lily close to her as she calmly walked out, making sure that it was Lily leading the way and not the other way around. This was all about Lily--and she wanted her to know that. As the people started to become fewer and fewer, she asked calmly, "What's going on, sweetie?"
I’m an awful dancer, by the way— just warning you.
I doubt it, baby. Alright.
