How can you adore Christ's body in the Church with riches when he is outside, cold and naked? How can you say you honor him with gold and silver while neglecting his pleads of hunger? Your cup is golden, saying it is filled with His blood, yet Christ's blood is poured out on the concrete where you simply step over him. You say you like to stare at Christ, but he is bound by cuffs in jail and you don't want to look at him.

If you can not see Christ in the poor then you can't see him in the chalice.

You do not eat meat, yet you devour your brother. You refrain from wine, yet still act drunk. You fast until evening, yet spend your day ignoring the needy.

What then will fasting bring you when your brother is naked and hungry? How can you say you fast when you do not bring proof of it? You still slander and spit at the poor instead of taking pity on them, you still let your eyes stare at a pretty face instead plucking your eyes out, you laugh at those who grieve and weep instead of comforting them, you roll your eyes at the sick instead of serving them.

Fasting will not help you until you become accomplished in love.

In the trenches while everyone around me is thriving 😫

But suffering and giving it up to God literally feels like a cheat code; my suffering will not be in vain; giving it up to God 🙌
